Chapter 80─Planning to kidnap Mishka and Bruce

Jean and Theresa were on top of the mountain, looking down at the houses below.

“Are you sure that it’s only the humans who will be affected by this powder? What if you misunderstood what your aunt was saying?” Theresa asked, staring at Jean while she twisted her hands nervously.

“I overheard her give instructions to this lady and it’s clear that it only affects humans and not wolves. The only difference is that this woman was going to blow it over one human, whereas I have enough to blow over this entire neighborhood below,” Jean responded with a smile and a mischievous grin on her face.

“What if it backfires and something goes wrong? Wolves will get sick and even the two of us could be affected. What if it blows back on top of us and it’s the wrong mixture?”

“I clearly heard my aunt say that it can’t have an effect on wolves, so stop being so scared,” Jean responded with an impatient grunt.

She then opened the cloth bag and began to blow the powder in the direction of the village. It did not move far, though. There was no breeze in the air.

“I think you should wait until a strong wind blows in that direction,” Theresa commented as she dusted herself off.

“There’s nothing on you. Stop dusting yourself off. The wind is not strong enough, but at least it’s not blowing in our direction,” Jean responded with a sneer as she looked into the distance, trying to spot the dust particles of the herbs that her aunt had ground into a powder.

“I think it fell only a short distance away from us,” Theresa commented with a dismal grimace on her face.

“Well, I don’t think it’s going to rain, so there can still be a good, strong gust of wind which can blow the dust over the houses and in through their windows,” Jean responded with a tight grin as she turned her gaze away from the village and began to walk away from the cliff edge slowly.

“I hope it doesn’t contaminate the water,” Theresa remarked as she fell into step next to Jean.

“Why do you care about the water? It can only affect the humans,” Jean asked with an impatient frown between her brows. Her auburn hair was blowing in the wind, making her look even fiercer than she felt on the inside.

“What about animals?” Theresa asked. “The clan doesn’t want us to endanger animal life,” she added with a sideways glance at Jean.

“The animals can only get a little bit sick, that’s all, the same as the humans,” Jean responded with a toss of her head.

“Let’s hope so,” Theresa responded.

“Don’t be so stressed. You will ruin everything if you start worrying about small things,” Jean responded in an impatient tone of voice.

“Okay then, so you’re just testing everything now. You’re just going to wait and later find out if anyone got sick or fell unconscious?” Theresa asked, glancing at Jean’s face briefly.

“Yes and if it worked now then I know how much to use to make everyone unconscious. Then I can kidnap Mishka and take her far away from here. Far from Bruce’s reach,” Jean replied with a sweet smile on her face.

“It’s always easier said than done. Remember how they outsmarted me when I went into the woods after stalking Mishka’s house?” Theresa asked with a nervous note in her voice.

“Yes, but that was a mere coincidence. It doesn’t happen all the time,” Jean responded as she opened her car door.

“But, if it does we can find ourselves in a sticky situation. The guy who was with Mishka and her friend was carrying a gun. When we are in our wolf form we cannot defend ourselves against guns,” Theresa commented in a serious tone of voice.

“Most people who go into the woods carry guns. It doesn’t mean that he was gonna shoot you. Remember, you told me yourself that they were all surprised to see you and your friends there. That means that they weren’t out to shoot you specifically,” Jean responded as she got into the vehicle and began to start the engine.

“I don’t understand why you want to tackle an entire town when you could just make Mishka unconscious on her own,” Theresa responded, shaking her head.

“I want to make it look like there was only a bug in the air, then it’s not so suspicious. They will not only be focusing on Mishka,” Jean replied.

“Alright, I hope it works somehow. I just don’t know what you’re gonna say to your Aunt Mable when she notices that all her powder is gone. Vanished into thin air,” Theresa remarked, shaking her head as she began to walk to her own vehicle.

“I will think of an excuse,” Jean responded with a chuckle.

“She can always make some more. See you next time,” she added before she drove onto the narrow road which led down the mountain.

“Now all I still have to do is find out who’s sending me gifts. Twice a day is a bit serious. First chocolates and then flowers? Very strange. It’s so long since I had an admirer like that,” Jean told herself as she drove.

The gifts which had suddenly begun to appear at her aunt’s house, addressed to Jean were unexpected, but a pleasant surprise to her.

“Maybe the guy will introduce himself soon. That will be very interesting. I wonder if he’s a wolf,” Jean commented to herself as she drove back to her aunt’s house.

Myrtle checked her crystal ball again as soon as she arrived back at home, after her visit to the fortune-teller’s meeting house.

“That werewolf girl is after Mishka because Mishka is somehow involved with this man.

I wonder how they’re involved exactly and what kind of a person is he?” she asked anxiously as she waited, hoping to see the man in the crystal ball again.

“I have to find out who the guy is so that I can get him out of the way. He’s going to drive Mishka away from the family business and on top of that, he’s a werewolf. Her father shouldn’t find out about this. It will make him sick,” Myrtle mumbled as she stared into the crystal ball.

“Ah, there they all are. Him and the two ladies. Why doesn’t this Jean girl attract him? Can’t her aunt just teach her how to use her charm? Why does she need witchcraft? No, this can cause problems for us all.

Oh, look. He’s clearly against her. He’s not just being indifferent. He looks like her rival instead of her love interest.

He looks very important, though. Maybe he’s too powerful to resist,” Myrtle told herself further.

Myrtle studied the scenes a little further.

“This girl seems crazy. She can harm Mishka as well as us. I should make a plan to make this man disappear from Mishka’s life. It won’t help to try and distract her with someone else,” Myrtle muttered to herself as she stared into the crystal ball with an intense frown between her brows.

“I have to get all the assistance I need to find out where he lives and then get him away from here, no matter who his is,” Myrtle mumbled as she stared at the group in the crystal ball.

There was a knock on the door then.

“Who is it?” Myrtle asked, frowning. She was not expecting anyone at this time of the day.

“It’s me,” Milla responded in her small voice.

“What does she want now? Was I talking out loud? I wonder if she heard what I was saying? She’s so sneaky, always creeping up on a person,” Myrtle thought to herself before responding.
