Chapter 14

As I slowly turned towards the source of the voice, I was filled with a mix of emotions. Fear, worry, and relief all filled me at once. Fear of the person because of what they did to me. Worry FOR the person. And relief that the person was generally unharmed.

“How did you get here Christian?” Jackson practically snarled.

“I walked.” He responded with his hands up in surrender.

“And what exactly are you doing here?” Jackson asked, trying not to lose his patience.

“I just wanted to make sure Leana is okay, and to apologize. My behavior was despicable, and I truly have no idea what came over me.” Christian said with his head hung down in shame for his actions.

All of a sudden, a doctor walked up to Christian, gaining his attention. “Excuse me sir, we have your test results. Would you like to discuss them in private?”

“No thank you. Whatever it is they can hear it as well.” He answered by gesturing to us with one hand.

The doctor nodded before opening his file. “Well, when we ran your blood, we found some foreign chemicals, and when we tested to see what it was it came back that it was Scopolamine, which is called The Mind Control Drug. Meaning that unless you decided to partake in it recreationally, we have reason to believe that you were drugged. Which could explain any strange behavior.”

“I was drugged?” he asked, shock clear in his voice.

“We believe so yes. The Alpha and his warriors are on their way as this is very serious. This could be from a rogue, another pack, or even one of our own. We need to take every precaution to keep everyone safe.” After the doctor finished, he bowed in respect to Jackson before leaving to check on his other patients.

Once we were alone again, Christian turned back to me causing Jackson to tighten his grip.

“Leana I-” he started.

“I forgive you.” I interrupted, causing his shoulders to sag in relief.

“How can you forgive him!?” Jackson all but yelled as he turned me to face him.

“You heard the doctor, it wasn’t actually him! Someone drugged him and made him do those things!” I signed back. “Besides he’s my best friend.”

Jackson took a few deep breaths in an attempt to calm himself. His reaction is completely understandable, his mate was kidnapped and almost forced to do something.

“And things with Christian will never be the same again, but if he was drugged and forced to do it, he deserves to at least be forgiven.” I continued once Jackson looked at me again.

“Okay, I’ll accept it, but I won’t be happy about it,” he all but grumbled.

“Thank you.” I signed, before turning to Christian, who was now on the other bed, still keeping his distance. “Now can you think of anyone who would want to do something like this to you?”

“No,” he responded shaking his head.

“We also have to consider that whoever did this was actually targeting you Leana.” Jackson said suddenly.

“Or both of us.”

“But Christian was the only person I interacted with. Everyone else left me alone and I did the same, the only person I ever had conflict with was Aaron. I highly doubt he would go this far either.”

“That’s true and Aaron isn’t that sophisticated, he’s more likely to throw a little tantrum until something else catches his attention.”

“When you were under the drug you kept saying that you had rejected your mate for me, is that true?” I asked.

“No, I haven’t met my mate yet,” he answered.

“Did you reject anyone recently?” Jackson asked, seeing where my mind had gone.

Christian went quiet almost as if he was in deep thought. “It wasn’t recently, but a couple of years ago this girl in my science class had confessed to me a few times. No matter how many times I said I wasn’t interested, she wouldn’t give up, so I told her I already had a girlfriend. I didn’t specify who but after that she left me alone.”

“With how much you’re with Leana, she could have assumed you meant that Leana was your girlfriend, and when she met me it could have set that girl off.”

“Do you remember that girl's name?” I asked.

“It was something like Brittney I think.”

Not long after we came up with our theory, the Alpha showed up. We immediately told him what we had come up with and he agreed that it was possible, and that they would look into it, but until they felt it was safe he thought it best that Christian and I stayed with a different pack. Jackson offered up a spare room for Christian, I think just so he can keep an eye on him. But nonetheless, the Alpha allowed it, the next day we were off. All our stuff was packed up and ready to be moved.

As I stood in front of Miss Mary, I couldn’t help but cry, and neither could she.

“I can’t believe you’re moving packs already. I am so proud of you Leana. If you ever need to get away or just want to visit, you are always welcome here.”

I simply nodded and hugged her one last time.

“Leana,” Jackson called out, “It’s time to go. Are you ready?”
