Chapter 47

Daisy's POV

I opened my eyes to see bright lights. My eyes looked around, trying to see where I was. It looked like the pack clinic. I noticed a large IV in my arm. The fight came back to me. My arm had been shredded badly on top of being broken. I must have lost a lot of blood to have passed out. I tried to see if I could see Callum, but I saw no one. I was alone. "Callum," I called out through the link. "Stay in the clinic." What was happening? There was no response. I mind-linked to Zelda. "Zelda, what is going on."

"You need to stay in the clinic, Luna." That was it. No one was answering me because something was going on. I ripped the IV out of my arm. And stood. I felt a little weird, but it was nothing I could not deal with. I walked out of the room and found the whole clinic running around. They were preparing for something. Someone noticed me. "Luna, you need to get back to bed." "I command you to tell me what is going on." "We are under attack." "Who is attacking us. Tell me." "A huge army of rogues." Fuck. "You need to get back into bed." I turned away from her and ran out of the clinic.

What the hell was happening? Had they been scouts, we had just killed off a few rogues the other day. As soon as my feet reached the outside, I shifted. Summer took over. Smelling the area. We were overrun. There were rogues everywhere. There was no way they came from one side. It was every side. I didn't know what day it was, but my first thought was the children might be at school. Summer raced there, ripping through anyone who had smelt wrong. She was a force of nature.

When we got to elementary school first. These kids had no wolf. They were all still too young. I found that the teachers had shifted and were fighting. They were outnumbered, and I am surprised they had held them off this long. Summer joined in. She didn't want to play she was there to kill. She slashed and ripped. In the corner of her eye, she saw one brown wolf slip into the building. I had never felt her run so fast. The wolf was smelling the air. He was going after the kids. She launched herself. Bitting into the back of his neck. He started thrashing, wanting to get her off. Throwing Summer around the hallway. Summer refused to let go. She used her front paws to dig into his side. As her mouth remained clamped down on the wolf's neck.

Another wolf entered the hallway. How did we get attacked by so many rogues? This was unreal. I didn't even know this many came together. It was like a whole pack of rogues; they wanted everyone dead. Why else would they be targeting children. I needed to kill this one to get to the other one. I let go of his neck. I need to get to his throat. The other rogue bit into my leg, but I lunged again at the other. I felt his teeth ripping into the muscle. Summer paused, pulled her legs up as she could, and kicked hard out of his grasp.

She was fast biting his throat out. The others looked scared, but as they wanted all of us dead, they would all die. Summer ripped the other one. "Luna goes help others. We got it." It was one of the teachers. "The children are safe. We have them on lockdown underground. A few teachers are with them. We got this." I took out of the building. I ran to see who else needed help. Just then, I caught a massive fire. I ran toward it. Back to the way I came. It was the clinic. It was on fire. People were screaming inside. How the hell were there people inside still. My wolf didn't hesitate. I had to shift back, though. The flames kept liking Summer's fur.

I followed the screams. There was a room where I tried to open the door, but my hand was severely burnt. Shit. I stepped back and ran, half-shifting my body, ramming the door. It budged. I kept my arms shifted and ripped the wood apart. I saw the room. It was filled with doctors and nurses. "Come on. Get out." I heard another scream and headed toward it. This was of a woman. She was wailing. I knew what that sound was. I had been working all summer with a woman yelling like that. She was in labor, and based on the screams, she was minutes away from crowing. She was alone in a burning building. I followed the screams. Why had she not gotten out? I walked as fast as I could. The whole structure was going to come down soon. I reached the door, and I found the woman. She was covered in blood. There was a dead body next to her.

She had fought in labor, so she was still here. "Come on, I got you." "I can't, Luna. She is coming now." "You can't have her here. We need to leave. The building will come down and kill all of us." She screamed again. I didn't know what to do. I grabbed the woman. She screamed the baby was coming out, whether I liked it or not. I ran as fast as I could with her. It seemed like an eternity until we were in front of the clinic. I sat her down, and a nurse ran to her. Good, she was taken care of. "Is there anyone else?" "I don't know. I think everyone got out." Everyone looked at the building engulfed in flames as we heard a growl.

I didn't know if there was someone else in there. Without thinking, I went back in. The Pack telling me to come back out. When I came to the second floor, I saw a huge man. I could barely smell him over the smoke. But the smell of decay was still there. He was a rogue, and he was here. I saw the bodies that littered the floor. He had killed them. He probably set the fire. And one thing I knew was he was going to die. Neither of us could shift. The walls were flaming, and fur would be too risky. "Why are you here?" I shouted. He didn't respond. He was huge, much bigger than me. I couldn't afford for this fight to last long. The building was going to come down any minute.

I made a last-minute decision: I would have to shift. Otherwise, I ran the risk of killing myself fighting so long. He ran towards me. As I made my move, launching myself at him, he thought I wouldn't shift, but as soon as I did, I bit right into his head, ripping it clean off. I shifted again. I needed to make it out of here. When I got to the stairs, they were completely covered in flames. I couldn't run through them. I would fry. I checked the other staircase and the same thing. I was trapped. My skin was on fire in the sheer heat.

I found a window. Fuck, this was stupid, but it was my best bet. I backed up as I ran. I shifted, breaking through the window. Summer fell, and I knew she landed okay. "Daisy." I heard Callum in my head. "Callum, is it over?" "I think so." "You need to get water to the clinic. The building is gone, but the fire will spread." "On it, are you hurt." "I am not good, but I will live. I will help here." "Okay, love." I shifted. My leg was shattered. From the wolf at the school, the running on it, the jump, the bones were a mess. But I needed to help.
