Chapter 186 Untitled Chapter

Chapter 186 Untitled Chapter
LIZZY MASON

“Lizzy?”

His eyes snapped wide, and he staggered back. “How did you find me? What are you doing here?”

“What do you think I am doing here, baby boy?” I scoffed, stepped inside the room, and shut the door. “I am here to arrest you, Noah. You are a wanted criminal. Who must be returned to the town? And ohh, you want to know how I found you, right? Ohh, well, I tracked you down.”

“You maniac!” He lifted his hand and launched towards me. But before he could drop his hand on me, I grabbed his wrist and twisted his hand, then pushed him back, making him fall flat on his face on the floor. Swiftly, I pulled out the gun from my waist and pointed it towards him.

“What do you take me for? A weakling? Get your head straight and stop trying to attack me. If you try that shit again, I am going to release the bullet into your head.”

He lifted his hands, surrendering to the arrest. Even he knows that he would never slip off my hand at that moment, and he knows I can release the bullet into his head because he had once seen me do that. When it comes to my job, I am a reckless person who doesn't let personal feelings get in my way.

“Can we just talk this over, Lizzy? I'll give you whatever you want. I don't want to end up in prison. I have a reputation to protect, and I know that you will help me do that.”

The audacity! He still has the voice to utter that rubbish. Noah’s audacity level is beyond him. Sighs.

Without wasting much of my time, I opened the door and let the officers get in. “Handcuff him,” I ordered, going inside the room.

While searching, my eyes fell on the backpack that was placed on the bed. It looked so heavy and suspicious, and without hesitating, I stepped closer to the bed and unzipped the bag. A cough escaped my lips when I saw the money inside the bag.

“So, you borrowed money from someone to run away from this country because your accounts are blocked, right?”

“Yes, I did. And how is that any concern of yours? I can't believe you are doing this to me, lazy. I thought no matter what offense I commit, you would always stand by me and do whatever you could to get me out of it, even if you had to drop your job to help me out, you would do it.”

Omg, that is the funniest thing I have ever heard. He expects me to drop my job and help him out of this mess? This dude is out of his mind. If there is anyone I should drop my job to help, then it will be Maureen and Elena.

I would have done that for them, even for the sake of treating me as her own daughter when I was a little girl; however, no one deserves it, not even them.

“Take him away.”

NOAH DOMINIC

This is definitely the worst day of my life. If not for the fact that I was so stupid as to have kicked off exchanging words with Lizzie on the phone yesterday, I would have been on my way, leaving that country right now.

I've got here; I have Chroma sitting inside the car with two officers sitting side by side, blocking me from getting away from the car. I didn't know that one day I would be escorted as a criminal to the headquarters, just the way Lizzy has always done to those whom she has caught before.

My heart sank, and shame overtook me when I saw a group of people running around the streets holding a huge banner with my picture on it. They were chanting merrily as the car drove past them.

I felt like bursting out of the car and yanking off their heads, but when one of the officers said something, I became weak.

“Everyone is so disappointed in you, Mr. Dominic. Nobody knows that you are a green snake hiding inside green grass. I don't really know what your aim was towards Detective Lizzy, but I am so happy that everyone isn't pointing fingers at her. You could have ruined the reputation that she has spent years building.”

Oh, god! This is so embarrassing.

This is what I have become: someone whom they would talk to however they want. They always respected me and said yes to whatever I said. Sighs.

And for the people in the town, I am not in any way surprised by their actions. If they could do that to Mr. Bosca, who had done a lot for them, who else would they spare? The good thing is I didn't do anything for them. All I ever did was invest in the health care system, and even then, I always get my profit in huge amounts.

“And here we are.”

My heart skipped a beat the moment they announced our arrival at the headquarters. Gosh! The last time I came here, I was an important person and was bowed to. And now, as a criminal who is spat on as we pass.

“Wait here; Detective Lizzy will soon be here,” the officer said after sitting me down on the chair.

As soon as he left, I put my head on the desk, and tears started flowing down my face.

Is this my life now? I am not ready for this. Perhaps if I talk to Lizzy, she will pardon me. She has a soft heart, and I can blackmail her with the love we used to share before.

“Quit looking at me that way, punk, and answer my questions.” She smirked at me, “I already know you are Bosca’s boy. I know you are behind the missing women, and I know that Raymond and the ministers are all working together with you. Right now, the only thing I want you to tell me is where the women from ten years ago are, and where the ladies are.”

“If I tell you,” I shifted in the chair. “Will you release me?”

I am a businessperson, and everything to me is a business. If she agrees to release me, I will give her the location of the ladies. But would Lizzy even do that?? I have seen her promise the criminals that she will release them if they tell the truth. And even after they say it, she still sends them to the court to be sentenced.

“Mark my words,” she smiled. A reassuring smile that cools my heart.
