Chapter 168 Untitled Chapter

Chapter 168 Untitled Chapter
I turned the door handle and barged inside the room, startling Noah.

“You know what? I will call you later to discuss how things must go. Please, do not make any mistake with those goods; my company’s money is all in it.”

Oh, he was talking about his company? No, I can't let what he said fool me.

I folded my arms, staring at him suspiciously as he spoke on the phone. His eyes were fixed on mine too, brows raised in curiosity.

“What is it? ” He asked as soon as he dropped the phone, “Why are you looking at me that way? Am I in trouble? ”

Trouble is an understatement. He is in peril.

“Before you start, Lizzy, allow me to say this first. Why did you leave the hospital and go lock yourself up in your office? Didn't I tell you that the doctor said you need a lot of rest and…”

“Cut the crap, Noah. You are not the boss of me! ”

I scoffed, shutting the door behind me.

“Excuse me? ” He lifted a brow, confused. “Okay, yes. I am not your boss, you. Sorry, dear. But what is happening? Is it still about Sophia? I told you we will find her; do not worry.”

Yeah, why should I worry when the person who took her is him? I am not worried anymore.

“That aside. My leg and hand aren't getting any better, Lizzy. It always itched me, and I have already informed the doctor that I would be leaving the hospital tomorrow.”

So it is true after all. No problem. We shall see how he will leave this hospital.

“You aren't going anywhere, Noah. The doctors here are experts, and they can fix whatever is wrong with your hand and leg.”

“I know. I just don't want to stay here any longer. They said I would be discharged in three days when I was brought here, but it has been a week already, and I am not improving.

Are you saying I shouldn't leave because you will miss me? ” He winked, nibbling on his lower lip.

That would have turned me on before, but not anymore.

“Please, Lizzy, do not think otherwise. I will just be gone for a week and return. My doctor over there has already gotten things ready for the surgery. As soon as I arrive there tomorrow, I will be taken into the surgery room.”

Surgery? Is it that serious?

Shouldn't I ask the doctor first to be sure Noah isn't lying to me so I can allow him to go out of the city?

What if he is trying to run away?

“Give me a few minutes, and I will be back.”

I said and left the room. I went to the doctor's office with different thoughts running through my mind.

Unfortunately, he wasn't in the office. “Doctor Felix is in the surgery room, Detective Lizzy. Can you wait for him in his office? ” The nurse at the reception said that when I stepped out of the office.

“Oh, yes, I will.”

I am not in a rush anyway.

A few minutes after I was seated in the office, I received a call from the downtown division.

“We've found the guy, Detective. Shall we send him to the headquarters? Or will you come down to the station to interrogate him there? ”

Let's see.

“Send him to the headquarters. Do not have him locked in prison or the interrogation room. Take him to the guest room to wait for me.”

As I was still speaking on the phone, Doctor Felix returned.

“Detective Lizzy? Where have you been? For a week now, we haven't seen you in the hospital, and Mr. Noah doesn't know where you are either.”

“Is that what he told you? “The liar, pffft.

“Anyways, that isn't what brought me here. Noah said you guys agreed that he would travel out of the country to seek medical attention somewhere else. Is that true? ”

He adjusted his glasses and sighed deeply. “Yes, Detective Lizzy. Mr. Dominic needs to get surgery done on his leg so the injury won't deteriorate. He will be leaving tomorrow.”

He pulled out a file from the drawer and passed it to me. “That is his file; you can go through it.”

And yes, I did go through the file, and everything he said was true. There was even an X-ray result in there.

“Would you be going with him? ” he asked, taking back the file.

“No, Doctor Felix. Have you forgotten that my daughter is still missing? And I am still searching for her? ”

“Oh, that. I thought you'd already found her. So sorry, Lizzy. She will be found soon.”

Of course, she will. Because the person who has her in his custody will soon leave, and his secret will be revealed.

“Thank you, Doctor Felix. I will take my leave now.”

I left the office and returned to the room where Noah was. However, he wasn't inside the room when I entered, but his phones were on the bed.

Did he deliberately leave them there so he would catch me red-handed? Oh, he left them there, thinking I wouldn't go through them?

Whatever it is, I must go through those phones and check if I can find anything suspicious in them.

I looked around, checking if there was any hidden camera, but there wasn't, so I called out to him to be sure he wasn't in the bathroom.

“Are you in there? I've just returned from the doctor’s office.”

I didn't hear a word, so I assumed he wasn't in the bathroom either, and I quickly picked up the phone.

Unfortunately, the new one I haven't seen him with before was on a password, and fortunately, this other one wasn't on a password.

I clicked on his contact list and navigated through his call logs, and there were a lot of numbers he spoke with today that weren't saved.

I pulled out my phone and took a screenshot of his call logs and the message list, including his emails. Suddenly, another message popped up the moment I put down the phone, and before I could pick it up again, the door was pushed and Noah stepped in.
