Chapter 51: Why Are You Angry If I'm Looking for a Boyfriend?
Chapter 51: Why Are You Angry If I'm Looking for a Boyfriend?
Ever since Sophia had memories, her father was a slightly plump middle-aged man with a particularly kind smile. Her mother, on the other hand, was more dominant, creating a dynamic of the strong wife and the weaker husband. However, in public, her mother would act very virtuous and dignified, making her father appear as a dignified head of the household.
They had a 12-year age gap; her mother was a head nurse, and they met at the hospital. Her father was already considered elderly, being 61 years old, but his regular exercise made him look like a man in his fifties.
Sophia always thought her father was young and robust, free from illness or injury, until she discovered he dyed his hair black because he was bothered by the white hairs. It was then that Sophia realized her father was getting old.
Thus, when she heard her father say he had seen her when she was young, Sophia's first reaction was not anything else but the excitement that she could now see her father in his youth!
However, after the surprise, Sophia was left with more doubts: how did her father know William, and what exactly did she do after she traveled back in time?
These were answers Sophia desperately wanted to know!
Yet, before Sophia could ask in detail, her father spoke with a smile, "You don't actually believe that, do you?"
Sophia almost gasped for air, clenching her fists and gritting her teeth, "Dad, I'm being serious with you."
"Why are you reacting like this? You should think I'm talking nonsense. I didn't even have you when I was young," her father said matter-of-factly, as if she was the one in the wrong, not him.
"Dad, I just want to confirm, when you were young, you did see someone who looked exactly like me, right?" Sophia only wanted to confirm this one thing with him.
Her father nodded, "Yes, I did."
There was no mistake; Sophia could basically confirm that the person her father saw when he was young was her.
But she probably didn't explain at the time, so her father didn't know.
Her father added at this moment, "You've been wondering why I know William, right? It's because of the person who looked like you."
"That person was me," Sophia didn't hide it and directly revealed herself.
Her father, however, had a strange expression, feeling her forehead and muttering, "You don't have a fever."
"Dad, I'm not joking with you," Sophia was very serious.
Her father didn't seem to care at all, instead, he smoothly changed the subject, "As for William, I've only seen him a few times, but it's been too long, and I've forgotten what exactly happened."
"Forgot? Dad, think harder," Sophia frowned, how could such an important matter be forgotten so easily?
Her father yawned and said perfunctorily, "It's getting late, let's talk another day. As for you being bait, follow the arrangements, your dad has no objections."
With that, her father got up and went to the bathroom.
This left Sophia feeling very frustrated; he either shouldn't say anything or should say it all. How could he leave after saying only half of it?
"This isn't right!"
Sophia wasn't stupid; she could sense that her father was hiding something from her.
But Sophia didn't understand; this matter was related to her life and safety, how could he still conceal things from her?
In the bathroom, her father stood in front of the mirror, looking at his aging face in the mirror, and he sighed slightly, "Time spares no one..."
Sophia had too many mysteries in her heart, and she couldn't sleep without doing anything.
So, she called Raven Mason to make sure he wasn't asleep, and Sophia told him that she was coming to find him right away.
After hanging up the phone, Sophia grabbed her car keys and went out.
The security guard at the entrance of the community was very familiar with Sophia. Seeing her car approaching from afar, he opened the door in advance.
"Comrade police officer, are you going out so late?" Seeing her going out so late, the old man greeted her with a smile.
Sophia rolled down the car window and smiled at him, "Yes, I have something to go out for."
"Don't work too hard. Young people should play more. Go, go, have fun." The old man waved his hand.
Sophia's expression showed a bit of strangeness. Was there a grammatical error in what the old man just said? There was only her in the car; how could he use the word "all"?
Sophia didn't think much about it and drove away.
The old man walked into the guard room with his hands behind his back and said to another colleague on duty, "That young man is really good-looking."
The colleague who was monitoring the surveillance sipped tea from a thermos cup and smacked his lips, "Who are you talking about?"
"The young man who left with Sophia, sitting in the passenger seat, is very handsome, more handsome than the male stars on TV now. He also nodded and smiled at me." The old man was very happy.
But his colleague's expression was very strange. He said, "No, I only saw Officer Sophia alone. If you don't believe it, look at the surveillance."
"You're not joking, right?"
The old man said and leaned over to see. As a result, he found that there was indeed only Sophia on the surveillance.
The old man was dumbfounded. Could the young man in the car just now, was he not human?!
In the car, Sophia was bored, looking at the long line of cars waiting for the traffic light ahead. She connected to Bluetooth, played a song, tapped her fingers on the steering wheel, and hummed along.
Suddenly, she felt a gaze on her. Sophia turned her head and glanced at the empty passenger seat.
For some reason, Sophia suddenly thought of William.
Although she didn't drive much during the time she traveled back in time, whenever she did, William was always in the passenger seat.
He would calmly give her directions and remind her of things that needed attention, never letting her have any worries, which made her feel very secure.
Thinking of this, Sophia looked at the empty passenger seat, suddenly sighed, and muttered, "It seems I really should consider finding a boyfriend."
Squeeeeeeeee—
Just as Sophia finished speaking, the speaker suddenly made a harsh noise, as if the radio frequency was unstable or interfered with some signal. Sophia covered her ears and quickly turned off the music.
"What's wrong with you? I'm looking for a boyfriend, why are you angry?"
Sophia put her hands on her hips and criticized the player very dramatically.
As a result of being too focused on the act, she didn't notice that the car in front had left until the driver behind honked, and Sophia reacted.
Just after passing the traffic light, her phone rang. Sophia took a look, and the call did not display a number or a contact.
Seeing this special call, Sophia's expression became serious instantly.
She put on the Bluetooth earphones and answered the phone, only to find out it was Shawn Scott.
Before Sophia could speak, she heard Shawn Scott say anxiously, "Officer Sophia! There's an emergency. We have been monitoring you and just found out that you have been followed! The people following you are the wanted fugitives!"
"They are armed with firearms and are after you!"
"You must not stop the car, keep driving and wait for our support!"
