Chapter 44: Weight of Decision
Amelia's POV
I and Williams got to his new home. When we got there, I loved the place. He fixed a quick meal.
“Thank you." I said, taking it from his hand.
"Yeah.” Williams said. His eyes crinkled at the corners. “You like this place huh?"
" Yeah.” I nodded, taking a bit of the food. " Wow, you're really good, I like this.” I said, he could see how surprised I was at his cooking skill.
Williams, on the other hand, was looking pleased with himself. “You will get to eat more of my food."
I sat at the table, I was eating in a comfortable silence, something that can never happen when I'm at home. I felt so comfortable around Williams.
“Should I get you some dessert?" He asked as I finished my meal.
“Sure." I said.
He got up from the chair, cleared the table and walked into the kitchen. His enthusiasm was infectious, I suddenly started smiling.
I took a good look at the surroundings as he walked into the kitchen. His home was so inviting and cozy with a very nice Atmosphere which made me feel at ease.
He had added a little touch in the house to make the house feel like his own. He added some framed photos on the wall and very colorful artwork on the walls.
After some time Williams returned with a big smile on his face. He held two plates of dessert in his hand.
While I looked at the cake he held, “Don't tell me you made this yourself." I asked, surprised, but impressed.
With the look on Williams face, he was looking pleased with himself again. "You should test it first and I hope you would like it.”
I signed. Then I took a bite. To my surprise, it was delicious and moist. It was very nice with the right amount of sweetness. “You're really good.”
As I took a bite of the cake, I felt a sense of Wonder.
I couldn't help but feel a sense of Wonder as I took the last bite of the cake. I had no idea that Williams had hidden talent. “It tastes so good.”
I fixed my gays on him and for a moment our housemates a moment of shared amusement.
“Yeah, I'm so full of surprises he will get to know more soon.” he said, his eyes sparkling with excitement.
Still looking at him I felt a sense of ease which I couldn't explain. Maybe it was the only way he seemed to enjoy my company or I thought he was the only person in the world that could make me feel happy. We had this connection that I can't just explain.
I noticed a very strange look on William's face as I looked at him closely. At that point I felt we have something to say to me but you don't know how to open up.
Just then, he spoke up. “I left home because my mom actually wanted me to get married to Cindy. I'm sure I haven't told you this. My father's will was read by his lawyer a few days back. And in that will, my father stated clearly that the only way I can take over the company is when I am officially married to Cindy.”
He paused for a while expecting me to say something but I didn't.
“I left home because my mom threatened that was the only way I was going to take over the company. I just want you to know that I feel nothing for Cindy and I have more pain to do it Cindy. You're the only one I love and I am ready to risk everything just to be with you.” He stopped talking, drew his chair closer to me and held my hands.
“You left home?" I asked, my voice was barely above a whisper.
This time William's expression was sober. “So I left, I thought it was the best thing to do.” he said with a mysterious and low voice.
“You, not getting married to Cindy, I'm in support of that but what about the company? Who will it be given to then?"
"My step brother.”
" You do have a step brother?” I asked, surprised. He has never mentioned anything like that.
“I was also surprised. We just got to know about it when the lawyer came to read the will.” He said.
“So the company will be given to him if you don't do as the will stated?" I asked, scared for him already.
I was beginning to think if he should just go ahead and get married to Cindy.
“You can't let him take it, you know that right?" I said.
"Yeah, at the same time I can't get married to Cindy, I don't know what to do.” Williams said, I could see the pain in his eyes.
I actually didn't know how to console him. I couldn't tell him to get married to Cindy because I was really in love with him and I also didn't want him to lose the company.
“We are going to get past this, we need to stand together.” I said.
Williams said. " Promise me you'll be strong for this. It won't be easy for me either.”
I was silent for a while, still unsure if I should believe what I have heard. I felt bad that Williams was struggling with the idea of getting married to Cindy and saving his company. “I can't bear the thought of you being with someone else, especially Cindy."
" I won't let you down.” He assured me.
I felt Williams could see through me as he fixed his gaze on me for sometime. “I'm with you in this." I said, assuring him.
I was determined to stand and was determined to be strong for him. “We can get through this, you know right?" I said with a confident tone.
There was a little smile on William's face as he turned to face me. “I trust you will."
As we sat there there was tension between us. It was palpable and I knew things were definitely going to get complicated but still I was ready to take the risk to be with him.
I was lost in thoughts for a while. Thinking if things were ever going to work out between me and Williams. I only hoped for the best. Just when Williams was about to say something, I heard a sound outside, not quite long the doorbell rang.
Williams and I stared at each other wondering who it was.
“You're expecting anyone?" I asked.
" Nah, nobody knows I'm here yet.” He said, surprised.
