Chapter 24 I Want To Know Everything About Her!
Chapter Twenty-Four
He had been so determined back then.
He’d gone ahead and gotten the serum within twenty four hours.
The serum contained neuro suppressants that the doctor administered soon after Lucian’s surgery under the guise of stabilizing his condition.
It has worked perfectly.
Or so he’d thought.
Lucian had never woken up and he thought his plans had worked.
He laid off the stronger dose of the serum so the fucker would not die too early.
He wanted Lucian to be looked upon as the useless, paralyzed and comatose eldest son of the Graves family.
It was a brutal punishment he gave to the entire family.
He always scoffed in derision whenever he sees Madam Graves go into Lucian’s room to cry.
“Serves you right for always treating him like he was your world,” he’d mutter maliciously, “I deserve to be someone’s world too!”
Whenever he came to the headquarters and the Chairman went over his reports, he would sneer at the old man’s dissatisfaction.
It seemed that everything he did would never please the old man.
Nathan would be furious for a bit but then he’d remember that Lucian was still a vegetable and his heart would lighten.
He would mock the Chairman secretly, “I know you think your precious golden son is going to wake up someday and take over everything once more.” He’d think, “But what to do? His life is in my hands. I will decide his fate.”
And that’s exactly what he thought was going on.
Many times, he went into Lucian’s room to stand over his bed and mock him for lying like a vegetable, while he took over everything that ever belonged to him.
“They said you’re the golden son, the one who can do everything.” He’d say, laughing mockingly, “Let’s see you rise from the bed then.”
He’d been in Lucian’s room just that morning when the house was as quiet as the dead, and everyone was yet to arise.
This was his ritual.
Going into Lucian’s room everyday to mock him. He found great pleasure in doing so, and it seemed to give him some kind of particular boost during the day.
They had heard the day before that Lucian was getting married to a country bumpkin, and Nathan had been so tickled, he’d to go and mock Lucian that morning.
“What a perfect combination,” he’d laughed, “A country bumpkin and a vegetable. Hahaha!”
He tucked his hands in his pockets and stared down at Lucian’s unconscious firm, “Oh Lucian, how the mighty had fallen,” he said in a gentle voice, pretending to be overcome with pity, “You were once Crestmont’s most eligible bachelor, but now even the ladies are rejecting you. Well, it’s expected, given your condition.”
He had laughed and then leaned down to say in Lucian’s face, “Who’d want to be saddled up with a vegetable like you?” He said with a devilish smile, which suddenly grew hard, “I hope you lie there for the rest of your life. No. I will make it so. I will take the Graves Empire for myself and my children will rule it after me. You will die a vegetable. Hahaha!”
He’d left the room feeling very pleased with himself, and also thinking happily of the fact that he was the only one who can choose when Lucian would died
Since he can increase the dosage anytime he wanted.
That was just this morning.
He’d felt such extreme power just this morning.
How then did everything crumble to dust like this?
He groaned in anguish , rubbing the space between his eyes with the heel of his hand.
How then did all his plans get ruined one by one? What has changed between that morning and now?
His eyes flew open as he thought about this.
The only thing that had changed in the Graves household was the arrival of Aria Beaumont.
Yes.
That was it.
Aria Beaumont had arrived and she had been the one to throw that spoke into his wheel of success.
“The little bitch!” He muttered viciously, the veins popping up on his forehead from anger, “How dare she appear and ruin everything?!”
“So it was definitely her!” Monica uttered, her eyes narrowed in shock and deep thought, “But how?! It’s not like she has some knowledge in medicine! Or… does she?”
They were all silent for a bit, thinking off that possibility.
What if Aria had some kind of medical skills up her sleeve?
It sounded absurd but it was clear that Aria Beaumont was no ordinary country bumpkin.
They recalled how she’d discovered that fake painting in the living room earlier day.
A country bumpkin would not have such knowledge of art, no matter how much art magazines she read.
“Is she really a miracle doctor?” They wondered amongst themselves.
The doctor, however, snorted in disbelief and jealousy.
“Miracle doctor, my foot!” He muttered under his breath, “I can assure you she is nothing, sir. Just a country bumpkin who grew up with pigs.”
Nathan arched his brow at the doctor, his eyes and tone cold, “Then how was she able to wake Lucian up?!” He growled, “Did the pigs teach her?!”
The Doctor recoiled at Nathan’s outburst at Nathan’s outburst, bowing his head in a contrite manner, “I’m sorry, Master Nathan.”
Nathan shook his head in disgust, “You can’t even do anything right and then you stay there and look down on other people,”
“You should be ashamed of yourself,” Monica pat at him, “A country bumpkin doing something that huge to ruin what you’ve been doing for years. Shame on you!”
Doctor Adams hit his lips in anger, his fists clenching before him.
First, it was the fact that Aria Beaumont was being called a miracle doctor, and even assigned to help Lucian with his rehabilitation activities.
Now she was being compared to him.
It made him furious, but unfortunately there was nothing he could do at that moment.
Nathan had had enough.
He whipped out his cellphone and dialed a number, then placed it to his ears.
Soon the call went through.
“Yes sir. Please speak.” A voice said on the other end.
“I want you to find out every information that you can on that woman called Aria Beaumont!” Nathan uttered grimly, “Right now!”
