Chapter 115 An Ally
Chapter One Hundred And Thirteen
That night, the Graves family sat round for dinner.
The news of the days activities had already gotten to them, and while they were very shocked at what Selena and Vera had done, it still did not dampen Aria’s achievement for that day.
The Chairman was very much impressed with what Aria had done.
“I can’t believe she was able to make such a move within such a short time,” Madam Graves uttered excitedly, “I told you she was a hidden gem!”
“That’s right,” the Chairman uttered, nodding his head thoughtfully at Aria, “Your father judged you wrongly, Aria.”
“Exactly,” Madam Graves retorted excitedly, “How can he hold that Selena Beaumont in high regard instead? Thank goodness, she is not the one who married into our family! She would have disgraced us all continuously.”
Aria hid a little smile at that statement.
The Graves family were indeed lucky to not have Selena marry into their family.
It must be so embarrassing to have a daughter in law who goes about framing people and teaming up with other malicious people to bring others down.
Aria was sure that George must have heard about Selena’s act of that night.
He must have even bailed her out already, and Selena would be in deep shit by now.
Aria smirked to herself, “This is only just the beginning, Selena.” She thought.
Her target was not just Selena alone but the entire Beaumont family. If she can get George to be extremely disappointed with Selena while also proving to be better, she could do whatever the hell she wanted with the Beaumont family.
Like taking back the Beaumont Empire which had originally belonged to Isabella Beaumont, Aria’s mother.
The bid she had won that night was only the first of many more feats she would be achieving in the Graves Empire.
And if things go according to her plans, she would be able to achieve her goals within a short time.
That’s taking back the Vaughn Empire, as well as the Beaumont Empire.
“Well, with tonight’s event, your father would definitely see that you’re better than your sister,” Madam Graves uttered, patting Aria’s shoulder.
Aria shook her head, smiling humbly, “It’s nothing really.” She replied, “I did not do it so I can surpass Selena or anything. I just wanted to do everything I can to help the Graves Empire and that’s how things turned out this way.”
The Chairman and Madam Graves were pleased at her humbleness, and Lucian smiled at her as well, but by the others at the table could almost not hide their grudges.
Monica and Nathan sat eating their dinner silently, while occasionally throwing disdainful looks at the others at the table.
Nathan could not understand why such a fuss was being made just because of what Aria had won.
The project was obviously a bust, and he felt the Chairman was definitely supposed to know that it would fall through.
Instead, they sat round at dinner table, praising her to the skies, as if she’d just done the world’s greatest wonder.
Nathan chewed his gum and could not help but say, “It’s wonderful she won the bid and all but Chairman, don’t you think she took too much of a risk right there?”
Everyone stopped to look at him, and he cleared his throat, his tone bitter as he continued, “The Nexus logistics company is one which is already done for and she spent that much amount of money on it. If it fails, then we are losing that much!”
“It’s mere luck that she was even able to get the bid,” Monica uttered with an arrogant sniff, “but I wonder if that luck can see her through to make it successful.”
Madam Graves threw her napkin on the table, “Why do you all have to make things so uncomfortable, saying negative things?!”
“Can’t you just be happy for her?!” The Chairman uttered in an exasperated tone.
“If you don’t have anything useful to say, it’s better you remain quiet.” Lucian uttered coldly, giving Monica a withering glare.
Monica flushed with fear, then quickly regained her composure once more, “I’m only saying the truth, which I think everyone is overlooking at the moment,” she said hurriedly, “I think you all must be delusional to think she will be successful with this project.”
“We don’t need you jinxing it!” Madam Graves uttered, eyeing Monica with frustration.
However, the Chairman seemed thoughtful and Nathan was pleased, thinking that he was able to get to the mind of the Chairman.
He was about to say something more when Aria placed her fork down, the gesture seeming to pull everyone’s attention to her.
“Nathan, why don’t we wait and see if I will succeed or not?”Aria uttered, arching an eyebrow at Nathan. She gave him a cruel smile, “Or are you just saying this to draw attention away from you and your project which is already doomed?”
Nathan slammed his hand down on the table before him, “My project is far more better than yours. And you know it,” he inhaled deeply trying to keep his temper under control, “I guess we will just have to wait and see.”
Aria scoffed, “Yes, we will have to wait and see.”
Monica glared at Aria, her dark eyes filled with hatred as she carefully ate her steak.
She could almost not contain her anger but she managed to console herself with the news which Nathan had given to her earlier.
They had gotten someone powerful on their side. Kurt Eugene would prove to be extremely valuable when they eventually start working together.
Aria had only met them just that day, and she’d already caused Vera Hale to be taken in for questioning by the police.
Kurt Eugene would undoubtedly be livid and would be out for blood. And Aria had also taken the project which he was eyeing, right from under his nose.
How wonderful it was to come in contact with someone else with the same goal and mindset like theirs.
