Chapter 144

Chapter 144
ONE YEAR LATER

SUN CREST PACK

“Ben, I don't have anything to say to you.” Beck yelled at him as he tried to say something.

“Please calm down, your sister says she needs some—”

“I don't want to hear it! If it's about Blue, I don't want to hear anything. She is old enough to take care of herself.” He snapped, cutting Ben off.

Ben hesitated for a moment and began to speak again. “Your parents are here to—”

“Ben!” Beck yelled, looking up from the documents he was going through. “What part of ‘I don't want to say anything about them’ don't you understand?” He asked, angrily.

“I don't want to lose my temper, please. If you have nothing better to say. Just leave my sight.” Beck dismissed him immediately.

“I'm sorry.” Ben bowed, and left the room.

As he stepped out, he met Beck's family members, waiting in anticipation. And as soon as they saw Ben, they rushed to him, but he shook his head.

“He doesn't want to see anyone. I tried to tell him that you all wanted to see him, but he refused.” Ben reported to them.

“Until when is he going to keep sulking?” Blue, Beck's sister said, rudely and their heads snapped in her direction.

“Will you shut that trash you call a mouth!” Her mother yelled at her. “You're also at fault here.” She hissed.

“But it's obvious she doesn't want to see him, or why else would she disappear all of a sudden without a trace?” Blue stated, shrugging. “Well, I think her parents will know where she is but they don't want to say anything because she told them not to, if you ask me.”

“No one is asking you, Blue. Just shut your mouth.” Her father growled at her and she immediately went mute.

They then turned back to Ben. “Is there any update on the search yet? Have you found anything? Any clue on her whereabouts?”

“Not yet. Our men are still out there, searching desperately for her.” Ben answered smartly.

“I hope we are able to find her soon though, because Beck is getting worse everyday. He has completely become a shadow of himself. He doesn't even want to have anything to do with anyone and he literally cries every night, calling her name. I really don't know what to do or how I can help.” He added and Beck's parents sighed.

While they were still talking, Ben's phone buzzed.

“Please excuse me. I need to take this.” Ben said, and stepped aside to take his call.

“Hello. Yes, is there any—”

“Really?” His eyes widened in surprise.

“Send it to me immediately.” He quickly said and as he ended the call, his phone buzzed, notifying him of a message he had just gotten.

Seeing the image sent to him, his eyes widened with joy, and he immediately dashed back into Beck's office.

“What is it, Ben? I thought I told you I didn't want to see anyone or talk to anyone today.” Beck stated.

“We… we… found her.” Ben stuttered, his voice breaking as he spoke.

Beck immediately dropped his pen. “You did what?”

“We found her. Veronica. She has been found.” Ben repeated, and Beck sprung to his feet.

“Really? Where?” Beck asked impatiently.

“Sources say she is in the Blood Moon Pack.” Ben revealed and before he could say anything else, Beck dashed out, disappearing like the wind.

Ben immediately ran out, following him.

BLOOD MOON PACK

“These babies look so cute.” Luna Isabella said to her husband. “I can't believe they've grown so big.”

“Exactly. Wasn't it just like yesterday when they were born? And now they are already a year old.” Alpha Charles said in support.

“They look exactly like their parents, don't you think?” Luna Isabella added, staring at the twins, one in her arm, and the other in the King's arms.

“Exactly. They are a replica of their mum and dad.” Alpha Charles nodded, and Veronica rolled her eyes.

“You've done a great job raising them so far.” Luna Isabella commended her daughter. “Who would have thought you would be a mother to two beautiful children at once? Twins.”

“I mean, I didn't even believe it when the doctor told me.” Veronica mentioned, “I thought I was going to pass out.” She joked, as she watched her kids playing with their toys in her parent's arms.

“I remember you called us immediately, panicking,” Luna Isabella reminded her, and they laughed. “But look at you now, doing well at it. I'm so proud of you.” She smiled, proudly.

Her parents exchanged glances, and Alpha Charles nodded, giving his wife the go ahead.

“Veronica,” Her mum called her. “Don't you think their father should know about their existence?” She asked.

“Yes, the young man doesn't even know that he has kids, and I'm sure it will hurt him to know that he has kids who he isn't there for because their mother decided to hide them away from him.” Her father said in support.

“Please, don't you think it's time to forgive him and leave the past in the past?”

“Please don't let your anger deprive your kids of the love of their father. You can't keep living like this.” She said further.

“But I'm not complaining.” Veronica interrupted her. “I can cater for them on my own.”

“I know you're not complaining, but please don't be the reason why these beautiful kids are being referred to as “born out of wedlock”. They deserve their father's love too. Don’t you think so?” Luna Isabella continued.

“Think about the love you shared on the night you made them. Even though you always say it was a drunken night, I know deep down that you know you still love him very much.”

“Please just forgive him, and start anew. On a new and clean slate.” They pleaded on Beck's behalf.

“Do you know how bad we felt when you gave birth and we couldn't tell their father that you had given birth to his first offsprings?” Her mother asked, her tone carrying so much emotion that Veronica began to sob silently.

“We felt bad, because we know how happy a good father usually is to watch his child grow. And in your case, it's not just one child, but two.” She said again.

“It's also stressful to keep sneaking here, because we know he is on the lookout and has been searching for you everywhere.” Her father added, tiredly.

“Can you please find a place in your heart to forgive him and forget what he has done. He has been through a lot too emotionally and mentally. You have been through so much too. Please set yourselves free, and be happy again.” Her mother pleaded with her.

“We know he is definitely going to be a great father, and husband to you.” Her father chipped in.

“You think so?” Veronica asked, with tears in her eyes.

“Yes, I know so. We know you would also want that, so please don't stall anymore.” Her mother responded, wiping her tears.

At that moment, there was a knock on the door.

“Are you expecting anyone?” They asked Veronica.

“No. I'm not expecting anyone. In fact, I hardly leave the house and I hardly ever have visitors.”

“Well, are you going to check?” Her mother asked, unsure.

“Yeah, I will be right back.” Veronica responded, and left the room.

She headed into the living room to check who was at the door.

“Who is it?” She asked, opening the door to see the last person she ever expected would be at her door.

Shocked and dumbfounded, she stepped back, giving him enough room to enter the house.

“Be…Beck…” She said, shakily. “What are you doing here?” She asked, visibly shaken.

“Please, hear me out.” He immediately fell on his knees.

“I've been miserable without you. My life has no meaning. It makes no sense without you in it.” He began to cry. “I searched everywhere for you, but I couldn't find you. I thought I had lost you forever.”

“After that night together, I woke up the next morning and you were gone. I tried to ask about you, but I was told you didn't want to see me anymore. I kept coming to the palace, hoping that you'd give me a chance to one day prove myself, but suddenly I was told that you traveled far away.” He wept bitterly as he spoke.

“Please, forgive me for all the pain I caused you. My heart is aching so badly. I feel like I might die if I stay one more week without you. Please, I beg you with everything you hold so dear. Forgive me.” He pleaded wholeheartedly.

He wiped his tears which poured uncontrollably. “And if after now, you still don't want me in your life, I promise not to bother you anymore, but I can't promise you what I would do to myself if I lose you.”

Veronica could no longer hold her tears in anymore. She could no longer act strong or nonchalant anymore. The dam broke, and she cried as hugged him, falling on her knees too.

“I'm sorry it took this long to forgive you.” She said, as they both cried.

“It’s okay. Please don't cry anymore.” Beck tried to wipe her tears, but he himself was still crying.

“You're still crying too.” She teased him, as she wiped his tears and they got up.

“I promise to never hurt you again.” He assured her. “I've learned my lesson the hard way. Never again.” He added, and they both burst into laughter with tears in their eyes.

“Oh, what a great sight to behold.” Alpha Charles said, startling the couple, who immediately turned in his direction.

Seeing the child in his arms, Beck's brows furrowed in surprise.

“I didn't know you were here, Alpha. Good day, sir.” Beck greeted him with a bow.

“I'm glad we finally get to see the end of this seemingly unending turmoil. It's been a rollercoaster.” Luna Isabella said, walking into the living room, with the second child in her arms.

Beck's face twisted in further confusion. He wasn't sure if he wanted to ask about the babies, but he felt the urge to, seeing as they looked exactly like him and Veronica.

“Uhm…” he was about to ask when Veronica interrupted him.

“You don't have to ask. They are ours.” Veronica said out loud. She then leaned in, and whispered into his ear, “They are the result of that single night of passion on my birthday.”

Beck's eyes widened in shock and amusement.

“Exactly.” Alpha Charles and his Luna chorused, and they all burst into laughter.

“Here…” They both handed the children over to him, and his joy knew no bounds.

“Oh my goodness. I can't believe this. I can't believe I'm a father. It feels like I'm dreaming. This is exactly the best day of my life. I have never had any day better than this.” He screamed with excitement, holding his children in his arms.

“Thank you for making me father, Vee.” She said, his eyes welling up with tears again.

“I'm sure you know what you have to do now.” Alpha Charles said, his hands intertwined behind his back.

“Yes, I do.” Beck replied, knowing that he was talking about his marriage to Veronica.

“Preparation will begin immediately.”
