Chapter 24 Tie them up
Naomi
The footsteps were heavy inside the grass, and my heart was drumming heavily in my chest. This would be the second werewolf attack, if this was them at all.
"You can, don't hesitate to get one. We need to teach them a lesson."
Calix said, and just then, the bush behind me split open and a huge black animal jumped over us to the other side.
A werewolf. It was furry, as if all the furs in the world had been given to it.
It moved forward to attack, but Calix lunged forward with her sword to no avail. The animal jumped towards the students with its long teeth ready to bite into someone's flesh, but the students were quick enough to dodge.
"Form a strong defense line. Use whatever you can use. Your swords, needles. Just anything."
While my other hand held the sword firmly, I reached into my back to bring out my silver needle, which was of great help.
This time was longer than the previous one. Mr. Rex thought he got me when he threw the other ones, but I was always one step ahead. I had bought a second needle, in case the other one went missing, and I'm glad I had this one. I held the needle firmly in my hand.
I felt an unsettling presence behind me. I did not turn to see who or what it was. My needle stood firmly between my fingers. Just then, a shadow zoomed past my ear without hesitation. My hand swung to the side, and I let go of the needle. Something fell with a loud thud to the ground next to me.
My eyes moved to the floor next to me. They went wide at what they saw. A big, brown, furry werewolf lay down next to me, with slow breath leaving its throat.
I stood frozen for a moment just watching it, since I had never seen something up close.
Was it going to turn into a human after being in this form? Or was it going to remain like that?
"How dare you run?"
That took my attention away from the werewolf. The other one sprinted away into the bush.
A breath of relief left my lungs. I placed a hand on my chest as I pushed myself back. Was this how it was going to be?
"Good job, Naomi, and everyone who fought bravely today."
"So, Naomi. You should tie that up and let's leave this place."
My eyes shot up to Calix, hands tight around the sheath of my sword.
"Come on, tie the damn thing up, and let's leave before it becomes even more dangerous. I will call the school to send a car to come and pick it up."
"I can't do that." She did not expect me to go close to that animal, did she?
A sigh left her lips as she walked to stand in front of me. "It's like you haven't learned anything yet, like how much I hate repeating myself." Before I could even open my mouth to defend myself, a hard slap landed on my cheek, making me stumble backward. My hand reached up to my cheek. It burned like it had been held close to a furnace.
My lips quivered, my hands itched to retaliate, but nothing moved. I remained rooted.
"You would obey me. And you will do it with no hesitation or complaints."
I closed my eyes, took in a deep breath. She had the power right now, and any decision she took would be final. She could even order the students to get rid of me, and they would do it with no hesitation. No one would be able to find me here. One day, she was going to tell me why she hated me this much when I didn't do anything to her.
My feet, which had started to feel heavy, moved closer to the animal, which looked to be taking its final breath.
My hands reached out to touch it, but I stepped back, scared it might wake up and harm me.
"Be quick, we don't have that much time to waste." I felt a kick at my butt, sending my body falling to the front.
Something shook within me. My teeth gritted, my hands balled into fists. I felt my fingers getting longer, and an itch at the corners of my eyes. I didn't want to look at them. I tried to stop it, but it kept going. Not wanting any of the students to know what was happening, I hid my hand under the grass. I wanted it to go away. I didn't know what would happen if I let what was happening to me take control over my emotions. It could kill someone. This was like the third time this had happened. It did when I was being provoked.
I tried to take a deep breath to calm down, but it wasn't working. I started feeling itchy all over my body. I needed help, or I was going to lose it, and it would be the end of me if I did.
Then something shook in the grass ahead of me. I lifted my head in that direction. I didn't understand if I was the only one who saw that because none of the students were looking in that direction.
I craned my neck, trying to see clearly, but then, it hit me. Strong. Alluring. Petrichor. That one scent that I could never get wrong.
Just like the scent was my redemption, my nerves were calm. I was finally able to breathe properly.
Then something happened when I looked back at the tall grass. I almost screamed when I saw those familiar bright blue eyes, like a light bulb.
They waved at me and then disappeared. Who was that? And why was he always wherever I was?
"Come on, let's go. They are coming!"
Someone shouted. And we saw what she was talking about.
We had been surrounded by werewolves.
"I'm not sure we can fight this. Let's just go home."
"We have to run."
"By the count of five, you all must have been prepared to ru—"
But that was cut short as they marched forward.
I didn't know what happened, but I felt strong hands around my waist, taking me backward.
I tried to scream, but their hand reached out to my mouth, covering it.
In less than no time, I saw myself in a dark place that looked like a forest.
But there was no one around. I quickly stood up from where I was sitting.
"Who are you? Why did you bring me here?"
I waited for an answer, but no one answered.
"I'm someone you don't want to know." Then why bother me?
