Chapter 11 Fire
Zeev.
In the few days I had been in Teran, I gathered some information that could help us plan our attack against them. Just like last time, my father summoned everyone at the council hall. That's what happened each time I came back from Teran. I had to report every detail to him and the council of elders from there, they shall decide what to do. The meeting usually includes the council of elders and my family.
They knew about Xylos. However, the night after I left where Calix and her friends were, I strode around the city. I tried to ask questions as a normal citizen. Trying to act like one of them. There was this guy I met who told me that, if he had any sort of power in his hands, he would singlehandedly take out the werewolves.
When I asked him why, he told me the same story of the students that were killed at Kyn. I asked if he had a family amongst them, he said no.
So what was his reason then? He said it hurt him to know that a parent would lose their child like that and if he ever had a child, it meant that the werewolves would kill them too. And that's why he wished that he had the power to do it. I proceeded to ask if there was anything he or the government was doing to attack us.
I found out that he worked at Xylos. He worked under the research department and he would do whatever it takes to bring out the best weapon that can be use to eliminate us. He told me about other things they were working on. I didn't hesitate to store that information with me.
When I go back to Teran, I would find him, make friends with him and make him give me any information that he can.
"They have three bases of production. And are planning to build more."
"Weapons are being created. They used swords coated in silver in case they are attacked "
"How come they didn't attack you. Shows us evidence of what you are talking about.”
I continued with what I was saying and didn't spare Lanken a look. He wished that he was the one standing here.
After the meeting,I stepped outside to see how everything was. I missed it here.
Being away from it seemed like I was in hell and I hated it. Being a spy amongst people that hated your kind. Their food was different; they practically ate every kind of meal while here, we mostly fed on vegetables. They lived in tall glass houses while we owned castles. Even their education was different. I couldn't wait for this to be over, so that I could return back home.
"What is the gathering for, father?" Curiosity was the peak of the day as I drew closer to a quorum in the courtyard. My father stood, giving instructions to some of our strongest warriors.
"I want to launch an attack on Teran and it must happen tonight."
I looked around me, thinking that was talking to someone else or he was practically joking.
"What?" I had to ask.
"You heard me right, Fenrir." I knew he meant business whenever he called me by middle name.
"These things don't work like that, father. You have to plan this. It's not an animal camp where you can walk in and attack. The little information I gave back there, wouldn't amount to anything. "
He ignored me and looked at the guards. He used his fingers to count them.
"We need two more and yes..." He turned to me. "You would have to join them." He wasn't asking me. I had never told him no, but today was the day I did.
"No, father. I can't. This is dangerous. Teran is still widely awake after what happened last time. It hasn't been up to a month yet. They have a group of people that hunt werewolves and ..."
"When did you become such a weakling that gave such excuses?"
"He has always been a weakling, father. Let me go instead of him and prove just how much I can do this."
Laken joined us. A sinister smile pulled on his lips. "You are better off staying back." Father commented after urging the guards to leave.
"It's always him, waits until he dies from the curse that is hunting at him and that would not be too long from now."
I lurched towards him, my hold tight around his neck. He was playing with fire. I have been trying to stay quiet all this time. If he tried that one more time, I was going to forget that he was my brother and reaped his guts out.
"Say that one more time and watch me kill you with my own bare hands. " I was cutting up his air passage, but he wouldn’t stop talking.
"Yeah, go ahead and kill me just like you did your mother."
The environment turned red, the moment those words left his mouth. My beasts growled inside from the anger swelling within me.
A fist collided with his right eye and he landed on the ground, his head missing a rock that was directly behind him.
"That beast is going to kill my son. Someone should pull him away." I heard his mother's voice, but I made no attempt to stop.
I reached for his neck, but I couldn't when I heard voices calling my name and arms dragging me off his body.
"Z, leave alone. You will kill him.” Xanthe
"You should stop fighting now, Zeev."
I wasn't fighting. I wanted to give him what he has been asking for.
"Let go of my son, you cursed wolf."
I stood up, his mother, Xanthe and Fenrir. My father wasn't present; he never cared about these fights. He had once said that we could kill ourselves for all he cared about. He has never cared about me.
I stomped in my room and locked the door behind me. I didn't want anyone disturbing me.
Ten warriors in total. Since I knew the places, I led the way. Yeah, my father ordered that I take the lead and he wanted results.
I didn't even know how we were going to do this, given how secured the place was. The entire building was enclosed in tall white gates with barbed wire all over it.
We should have planned this, but he wouldn’t listen. He only listened when what was being said was in his favor. Just like today.
"We have to burn it down." Sukro, the head warrior said. I did not take part in unplanned actions. So, I gave them the go ahead and stood in the corner to watch them.
"Okay. You go to that side." I pointed to a side of the gate that seemed to have a door that looked like it had never been used.
They spread out and poured gasoline on the walls and the floor. I bet this wouldn't go far. The fire would not burn past these gates.
A few minutes later, we stood a far distance and in hiding, watching as the flame took over. Thick smoke thick and dark in the air.
We heard a bell ring in the distance. Screams and shouts. We needed to leave immediately.
"Let’s go.”
