Chapter 15: Missing

Chapter 15: Missing

The following morning, when Myra went downstairs, she found her parents already there. They had prepared themselves and were ready to leave. After having breakfast with Myra and reminding her of several things, they were ready to leave.
"Honey, we'll be calling you once we land, okay?" Her mother said as she caressed her head lovingly.
"Okay. Make sure you call." Myra poured and glared at the two of them. Her father couldn't help but chuckle. His daughter was so cute.
Myra watched as the car disappeared before she retracted her gaze and carried her stuff to go to school. She didn't like going to school in their car, she preferred using a cab so she called for one. Thirty minutes later, she arrived at school. People still gave the same look like the day before. Myra was unfazed. She had seen all kinds of looks to the extent that she was numb to them. She didn't care what people thought of her as long as she had a clear conscience. In fact, what Myra was always thankful for was the fact that Lana, her cousin, was not in the same university as her. Intellectually, Lana wasn't very sharp, so she could only join a second tier university. Myra knew that if Lana was in the same school as her, she would never have a moment of peace. After all, Lana and spreading rumors were like best friends. Myra didn't know if she would have had the energy to quell the rumors and deal with Lana at the same time. Thankfully, fate decided to help her have a moment of peace. That way, she could concentrate fully on her studies, especially the research and experiments. Only her parents knew how much obsessed with research she was. They supported her fully. If they didn't, who would? That was their only precious daughter. Myra went to class amidst the gazes of people. She knew why she was in school, so she couldn't be bothered by what people thought of her. Myra placed the books on the table and zoned out. She was already missing her parents. She never knew she was clingy until she started missing her parents as soon as they left the country.

Myra went to the cafeteria to get herself a drink. She didn't like food there, so she'd rather have a drink and wait until she went home to eat. She was already used to that lifestyle. As she drank her energy drink, she watched as people munched on the delicacies that she found bland. She didn't know why people enjoyed the food while she couldn't. Did it have something to do with her taste buds? Myra had no idea because she had already visited several doctors to no avail. She could only give up and try things she found edible. She didn't want to worry her parents too. They had a lot to tackle, and she didn't want to be among the problems. She was envious when she saw how easy it was for people to eat in the cafeteria while she struggled to finish her drink. She felt that it was unfair, but what could she do? The problem had been there ever since she was young, and Myra believed it was there to stay. She couldn't force herself to do things she didn't like, could she? So, after taking a few more glances at the people, she focused on the drink in her hand. One of the principles she had was never to throw away food. She knew that there were some people who lacked even water to drink. How could she bear to throw food away? So, when she bought that drink, even though her taste buds were not cooperating, she knew she had to finish it. Her next lecture would be in an hour's time, so she still had time.

The TV in the cafeteria was airing news. The first news that caught the attention of Myra was the news of the airplane that had gone missing. The worst part? Her parents went missing in the same plane. Her father was the alpha, and he was well known by everyone, so it was only natural that everyone would be drawn to such news. The extremely noisy cafeteria had turned quiet all of a sudden, so when Myra dropped the can of drink in her hand, everyone turned to look at her. They knew her parents. And they understood why she looked so shocked and pale. She stared at the news blankly and she didn't even notice that the drink had soaked her clothes and shoes. Her eyes were only glued to the TV. People cast sympathetic glances her way, but Myra didn't see any of that. Her ears and mind were buzzing with the news she'd just heard. The shock was too much for her, and she was slow to register what was happening. Even when everyone left the cafeteria, Myra remained seated. She didn't even notice when the people left. She was still staring at the TV blankly. The news had stopped airing, but Myra's mind had yet to register anything, and that's why she still sat in the same position. News about her parents' disappearance circulated throughout the school, and there were mixed reactions. They were people who felt bad for her, others felt happy while others didn't have much of a reaction. They never liked being nosy.

"What did you say?" As soon as the dark lycan heard the news from his beta, he stood up abruptly. The chair made screeching sounds as he did so, but he couldn't care less. This was the first time the beta had seen him overreact. It was an eye opener.
"The alpha of crescent moon pack and his wife went missing together with an airplane. " The beta still reiterated. He had no idea why the man before him was reacting so strongly to that.
"Clear my schedule. " As he said this, the dark lycan left the office in a hurry. With the chauffeur on stand by, he quickly instructed him to head to the university.
He tried calling Myra several times, but no one picked up the call. This only made him furrow his brows even more. He wondered how she was doing. He believed she'd already seen the news. The chauffeur felt his back break out into cold sweat. He was driving at a supersonic speed that even he himself felt that they could die at any time in case of an accident. But would he dare defy the orders from his boss? Of course not!
All the while, the dark lycan kept on calling her phone, but she didn't pick up. The more he did this, the more he suspected that something must have happened to her. He just hoped she was okay.
As soon as the car came to a halt, the man got out as fast as possible and headed for the school. With his dangerous aura, no one dared to stop him at the gates. In fact, people made their way for him out of reverence. He went around in search of her.
