Chapter 29

Doctors and nurses were trying to revive his father’s life. I was shocked and I can’t move and just cover up my mouth while crying at those times.

I can’t believe it's happening and I can accept it. I know it was just a dream. It’s impossible to happen.

But I saw the doctor shaking his head while facing his nurses.

I looked at my mother-in-law who was crying and shouting in pain.

I immediately hugged her so tight while crying.

“I’m sorry, Mrs. Crosby. We did everything to save your husband’s life. But we have nothing to do anymore, “he said sadly.

Suddenly my mother-in-law lose consciousness and fortunately, I catch her. They bring her to the other room and I really don’t know what to do. My mind was totally confused and shocked.

I saw Ransom still hugging his father’s lifeless body while crying.

I can’t help but cry while remembering all the kindness his father showed me.

“Dad, please wake up. Please don’t leave me, “he begged while his tears fell from his eyes.

“R..Ransom your mom,” I stammered.

He looked at me badly and confused. I just took a deep breath and told her that her mom lose consciousness.

“Your mother loses consciousness. Nurses brought her to the other room,”I told him.

“What?! Why are you here?!”He raised his voice toward me.

I don’t know what to say at those times. I just looked at him without thinking of any words to say.

“Stupid!” he shouted and run outside.

They left me alone inside his father’s room. And I was so very upset while looking at his father’s lifeless body.

“Dad, Why did this happen?” I asked him while my tears fell down.

I can’t imagine what our life will be like in the next following days without him. I know how painful it is for my husband.

After a while, two men get inside and get him out of the room. They will bring him to the Morgue and all I did was look at him from afar.

Suddenly my phone rang and I saw my mother calling me. I took a deep breath to calm myself before answering her call.

“Hello, mom, ”I uttered.

“How’s Mr.Crosby now? How is he?” she asked me.

“He’s gone, mom” I answered.

A few seconds before she spoke and obviously shocked at what I said. She didn’t believe me but I insisted that it was true. My father-in-law was gone.

“No, are you kidding? “She asked me emphatically.

“It’s true, mom. I still can’t believe what happened,” I cried.

“Wait for me there, Camilla,” Mom replied and dropped the call.

I can’t help myself but cry at those times. He doesn’t deserve to die early. He was so a very kind person and a loving father. What happened?

But I don’t have the right to question God.

Days passed by, and Many visitors come to his Night Vigil. They still can’t believe and accept what happened to him. Many are crying in grief like us. I always remember his kindness to me and it really gives me anxiety.

I can’t help but cried while holding baby Yumi in my arms. I always remember dad every time I looked at her. She reminds me how daddy accepts and loves us as his own family.

A few moments later, I saw mommy in front of my father-in-law’s Casket. I approached her to comfort her during those painful moments of her life.

“Mom, I know how painful it is. But I’m sure Dad didn’t want to see you like that,” I said gently to her.

“I can’t accept it, Camilla. I hate him for leaving me, “she cried while she looks at me.

“Please don’t say that Mom” I responded.

“Look at your granddaughter. She doesn’t want to see you cry,” I smiled sparingly and tried to hold my tears from falling down.

I saw she smiled at baby Yumi and kissed her forehead.

She apologized and tried to smile in front of her Granddaughter.

I felt how she love my daughter like how my father-in-law loves baby Yumi too.

“She already loses her Grandfather. Please be strong for her, mom” I said emotionally.

She just nodded and smiled sparingly. It is not easy to accept everything that happens. But I will do everything to ease the pain she felt right now. We both lose the man we love and it’s not easy to move on in just one blink of an eye. But we need to be strong for Baby Yumi because she needs a family.

“Life must go on. Maybe not now but I know someday we can overcome all of this,” I told her.

“Just take care of my son and granddaughter, Camilla. “she replied.

“We take care of them together, Mom” I smiled at her.

We smiled at each other and I told her to take a rest. But she refused because she wanted to stay beside my father-in-law’s casket.

“I don’t want to leave him. Just let me stay here, Camilla” she said emotionally.

“Okay, I understand but please stop crying, mom,” I said when I saw her tears start to fall again.

“I’m sorry I just can’t “she apologized emotionally.

I just sighed at what she said to me. I know I can’t force her to forget the pain and to be okay.

“Okay, it's okay, mom” I smiled sparingly at her.

After a while, I said goodbye and go to our room to put baby Yumi in the Crib. Beth volunteer to take care of my daughter and I didn’t refuse anymore.

“Ma’am Lydia needs you more, Ma’am. Let me take care of baby Yumi here “Beth said.

“Okay Thank you, Beth,” I smiled at her.

When I went down the stairs, I saw Ransom in the distance while looking at the Garden. I take the courage to approach him and took a deep breath.

“Are you okay?” I asked gently.

“Are you blind or just a fool?!”He said and frowned.

“I just care about you,” I said.

I felt so much pain from what I heard from him. He pushed me away like a dog.

“Go away! Leave me alone! “he raised his voice.

“Ransom please…”I respond calmly.

“Do you hear me? Get out!” he shouted.

I just took a deep breath to keep myself calm. I slowly walked away from her while holding back my tears. But suddenly I heard him speak from behind.
