Chapter 81

Alec

“FUCK!” I roared out. Like a flash of light she was gone. And I was still on the floor looking up to where she was before.

“Daddy? Are you okay? Did you fall? I fall sometimes too, but like you always say you have to just get back up and dust yourself off and try again. Hey where did Princess Savenia go? I wanted to ask her about the demons.” James said with a pout.

“James, baby go back inside and ask Uncle Antony to watch you for me, Okay?” I asked him. I had a mate to go and deal with.

“Okay. Can I hang out in Uncle Antony’s fort?” James asked.

“Ask him buddy.” I said standing up dusting off my pants and straightening myself.

Watching James scurry back into the Dining Hall. I prepared to walk to my room but walked straight into Prince Adrik and Celeste.

“Sorry. Excuse me.” I stated attempting to step around him.

“Alec, I can see that something occured here and do not want to know. She is my daughter after all. But I swear if you hurt her your ass will be in a sling, catch my drift?” He said as a statement, as he stalked towards me.

“Adrik!” Celeste chastised. “Alec, go after her but remember that you need to talk calmly. If she needs space. Give it to her.”

“No offense Celeste but that is not happening here. I did mess up” I said, turning from looking at Celeste to looking at Prince Adrik. “I got upset about something that I shouldn’t have. My son’s mother was an angel, and James and I have idolized her since her death. But, I asked Savenia to be a part of our lives. I just got scared that James so wrapped up in Savenia, would forget his mother. Amber sacrificed everything for me and our kind. When Savenia implied that she was James' mother now I snapped for a second. It won’t happen again. I know I have a lot of graveling to do and I plan to start tonight.” I explained.

“Alec, I met your wife once in my lifetime. She was an amazing woman. But Savenia is nothing like your wife. Your wife was shy, timid and docile. Savenia is wild, loud, and very opinionated. She only allows people to fuck her over once. Your time with her may just be done and over with. I am sorry. But Savenia is very cautious with her heart. She would rather cut you out of her life than attempt to fight and make it work. It's her greatest weakness. But also her greatest strength. She can move on, like she just snapped her fingers….” He paused and looked around.

“She hates to flash, did you know that? The half of her that isn’t fully Demonic, cannot stand the force that comes with flashing. Not only that but because she is not fully demonic, it takes a great deal more energy. Oftentimes draining her for days. Another of many reasons she doesn’t like flashing. She would rather portal places but that takes more time. Do you understand why I am telling you this?” Prince Adrik asked.

“Noo.. I don’t know. Maybe?” I said more as a question than an answer.

“I am telling you this because for one, you made her mad enough to use a power that she doesn’t have full control over. Two, she is vulnerable and if I attempt to coddle her she would most likely try to fight me only weakening herself more. With the upcoming mission that I am not exactly thrilled she agreed to but understand the reasoning she agreed to it. She is going to be too weak to fend off the attacks coming to her. She also will not be able to access her magick. And three, because she is weakened she is kind of limited on places to go.”

“What can I do for her to regain some strength? There has to be a way. I once heard that your people could harness energy from other supernaturals and humans although they had weaker energies.” I asked determined to help my mate in any way that I could.

“Allow her to take from you. She knows how. It’s another part of her that she hates. And she will fight you as she does not like to use that power at all. Even when her life is in peril.” He replied.

“So where would she go?”

“Her room. She would need to lay down and rest in order to regain some strength. If you are ready I could flash you there. But I warn you it will hurt like a son of a bitch.”

“Stop it Adrik. You know damn well the boy will take you up on that offer. You just want to further punish him.” Celeste said, slapping Prince Adrik on his chest. Prince Adrik grinned a salacious grin.

“Anddd.. Call it retribution.” He said grinning like the Cheshire cat.

“I will portal you to the hallway of her floor. Adrik give him the master key.” She ordered.

“You seriously take the fun out of everything.” He said taking out a large key ring from his pocket.

Lucy

Leaving the meeting room I walked with Levi as we steered towards his room. Without Roman though I was unsure if I wanted to stay with him or go back to my room with my mother. But seeing her talking and laughing with Gabriel had me wanting to give them their space.

Once back in our room Levi went towards the bedroom as I sat down on the small couch in the small sitting area. Nervously Ii began to twist my hands as Levi came back out of the bedroom in a pair of dark gray sweatpants that hung low on his hips. While running a towel across his wet hair. His bare chest was a spectacle to see with his rippling muscles that begged for my hands to dance across.

“What's wrong Luce? I would have thought that you would have at least changed clothes.” Levi stated as he continued to dry his hair while walking across the room to sit beside me on the couch.

“I want to go see Roman. I want to make sure that he is okay.” I said.

“I am starting to think that I am not your favorite.” He said jokingly. But I could tell that it was hurting him that I always wanted to go see Roman when he was not around.

“It is not that Levi. I would say the same thing if you were not here and locked inside the cells. I don’t know. I guess I just need both of you to feel safe and secure.” I said sadly. I was becoming too dependent on them and it scared the hell out of me.

“Okay. Okay. When you look at me like that Luce you make me want to rip out my own heart and give it to you. Give me a minute to get some clothes on and we can go down to the cells and see if he is awake.” He said as he patted me on the leg before getting up and walking back towards the bedroom. Coming back out a minute later with a T-shirt on and carrying a sweatshirt in his arm he reached out his hand for me to take.

Reaching out I grabbed his hand as he helped pull me up to a standing position and pulled me after him as we exited the room. It didn’t take us long to reach the entrance of the cells. Taking a deep breath, I followed after Levi as he walked towards the cell that would be holding Roman.

Within seconds we were standing outside the cell of Roman. He looked peaceful as he slept and I knew that the spell that Celeste and Amethyst casted would have him sleeping for til morning but I thought that possibly I could wake him. Reaching inwards I attempted to touch his foot that was closest to us. I need to feel him. Needed to know that he was still alive. I knew that no one would actually harm him but seeing him lifeless on the bed had me worrying that he may actually be dead.

“Wait here. I will go get Thaddeus.” Levi said as he walked towards the back office.

Staring down at Roman I attempted to coax him awake.

“Rome. Roman. Please wake up. I don’t think that I can do this without you. I couldn’t keep living. Please Roman. I lost Zoey. Don’t make me lose you too.” I said, still attempting to reach his foot.

After a few moments Levi returned with Thaddeus chuckling with the keys.

“So we're going to wake sleeping beauty are we?” Thaddeus giggled. “Oh I so wished that I had the tiara to put on him. Then I could get a picture of you kissing him Lucy. It would make for a nice newsletter headliner. Wouldn’t it?” Thaddeus laughed at his own joke.

“You know he's going to slaughter you right?” Levi said.

“Gotta catch me first.”

“Remind me again. Who is the fastest runner in your pack on two legs?” Levi asked quizzically.

“Ahhhh… Roman?” Thaddeus said worriedly.

“And on four legs?” Levi questioned.

“Roman.” The look of horror on Thaddeus’s face as he remembered that Roman could over power him in almost every sense had both Levi and I snickering.

“Hmmmm, Yeah that is what I thought.” Levi said with a smile.

“You're not going to tell him right? Lucy?” Thaddeus asked as he looked back and forth between Levi and I.

“I won't,” I said, smiling at him sweetly.

“Levi, buddy old pal.” Thaddeus said, draping an arm over his shoulder.

“I’ll give you a head start.” Levi smirked as I leaned down over him and began to whisper into Roman’s ear.

“It's time to wake up beautiful. Your mates need you.” I whispered. Only receiving a small grunt as he rolled over onto his back. Looking up I had to laugh as Thaddeus took off running like the hounds of hell were on his tail.

“Roman, if you don’t wake up I am going to reject the both of you and strom the Dens alone.” I stated loudly enough that Levi flinched and growled at me. Giving him a wink, I leaned back towards Roman’s ear.

“I Lucy…” I began and was cut off when Roman reached up and smashed my lips to his.

“Never trust a woman’s scorn.”
