Chapter 97 Untitled Chapter
My knees wobbled, and I fell on the floor. Matilda cannot die, not now, not this way. What did she do to the demon to deserve this kind of brutal death?
Was it her after all along? Was that why it came and left earlier?
“Alpha Amelia?”
Wait, that is Matilda’s voice.
I lifted my head quickly, tears flowing down like a waterfall.
“Matilda,” I dragged my knees towards her, trembling. Fortunately, she lifted her head. And the moment her eyes fell on me, she burst into tears, sprang up, and ran towards me.
“What was that, Alpha Amelia? It was so scary, and…it…has two long horns, sharp, long teeth and…” She looked at the opened window, quivering. “Please help me; I don’t want to be eaten by it.”
This is serious. Could the demons be haunting Matilda? Who is she? What connection does she have with them? She looks ordinary, and I doubt if she has anything to do with the demons.
Although there is blood all over the place. On the curtains, the bedsheet, the floor, the glass window, and the wall. But surprisingly, Matilda isn't injured anywhere. How is that possible? Isn't the blood hers?
“Are you hurt anywhere?” I turned her around, but nothing. Where then did the blood come from? It looks as if the demon brutally tore her into pieces.
“I am fine, but scared.” She sniffled, clutching my hand as if the demon would return and take her away.
“Do not worry, I am here.”
The moment I wrapped my arms around her, hugging her to myself, Hans barged inside, looking so shocked.
“What happened here? Who is hurt?”
“Nobody is hurt, but there is a huge problem.”
“What problem? And why is there blood all over the place when no one among you is hurt?”
Same thing running through my mind, but I will definitely get a hold of whatever happened in the room, causing all the blood.
“Hans, come with me.”
I gestured to him after handing Matilda over to the servants to keep an eye on her.
“Why is there a demon now, Amelia? Don’t you think we should go see the healer?”
“I know, right? And we shall go see him tomorrow. But something is off. We have never encountered demons in this pack until I brought Matilda here. The day it first came, the strong scent was all over the packhouse, and then it withered. Today again, it made its way inside the packhouse and went into Matilda’s room to attack her. I have this strong feeling that Matilda is related to the demons.”
“Why did you say that? Have you seen her acting weird?”
Hans doesn't know how these things work. Mattilda doesn't need to act weird before we know she must be related to them. Being related to them doesn't mean she must be a demon too; perhaps they are after her life.
“Not at all, she acts normal. However, I think they are after her life. And the earlier I get a hang of this, the better.”
If I don't bring an end to this now, my pack members will be the ones to be hurt more by the demons.
“Alpha Amelia?” General Lykon called, hurrying towards us as soon as Hans and I came down the stairs. “They said the demon attacked the packhouse, too. There are no injured victims outside.”
Has the news already gotten out? Whoa!
And did he just say ‘too’? Was anyone apart from Matilda attacked?
“What do you mean, too? General Lykon?” Hans took the words from my mouth, stepping forward.
“The nightclub was attacked, and a lot of the members present were injured.”
Omg!
And here I was, thinking the attack was only for Matilda. This is definitely getting out of hand. The demons are after my pack members, not Matilda alone.
“Where are the victims?” I asked the general as Hans and I hurried out of the apartment with him.
“They have been transferred to the hospital for emergency treatment, Alpha.”
Jeez! This isn't good at all. I hope we don't lose any of them.
“Amelia? Shouldn't we go see the healer now? Perhaps leaving it until tomorrow isn't a good thing. What if the demon returned? What if it doesn't come alone this time?”
Crap! That is never going to happen. How could he say something as creepy as that?? The demons must not return to my pack. And if they do, this time, I will be the one to send them back to wherever they came from.
And where is that dumb wolf? She hasn't uttered a word since.
“You cannot tell me that you don’t know what is happening.” I mindlinked Amy, trying as much as I could not to sound harsh on her.
“You blocked our connection, dude. How do you expect me to communicate with you?”
This is like the fifth time Amy is scoffing at me and speaking disrespectfully. What in the name of the moon goddess is wrong with this wolf?
Amy didn't used to be like this. She has really changed, and it bothers me. Although she is my wolf who is also my best friend, Amy respected me a lot. She gave me the respect I deserve as the Alpha. And the only time she tried to be rude to me, she returned to her senses after I punished her.
What really is wrong with her now? She started acting this way since we returned from the Dark Shadows sect.
“Alpha Amelia? We are here.”
I was so lost in thought that I didn't even know that we had arrived at the hospital.
“Alpha Amelia? There is a huge problem,” the chief healer in the hospital said in concern. “The demon passed a lot of toxins into their bodies, and i am afraid it is deteriorating their organs.”
What da!
“Also, we don’t have the antidote to heal them, and I am afraid we are going to lose them one after the other.”
Oh no! There are dozens of them battling for their lives on the beds. We can't lose them; I must do something as fast as possible.
“Allow them to die, Amelia. After all, this isn't the first time our pack members would be dying. Have you forgotten you also killed and injured many of them earlier?”
“What in the name of the moon goddess is wrong with you, Amy? Are you possessed?”
