What now?
Has this girl lost her mind? She had better not provoke me this instance. How could she even say something as stupid as this all of a sudden? This Matilda is getting on my nerves, and I pray she doesn't cross the line because if she does, I will not care that I was the one who brought her back to this pack.
“Are you kidding me?” I dropped the phone, glaring at her. When she realized how angry I was, she quickly apologized, bowing her head. “I am so sorry, Alpha Amelia, I didn't mean it that way. Please forgive me.”
“You better not repeat that, Matilda. Do not talk about men that way, especially Alpha Hans. You know, he belongs to me, and I don't like it when other girls compliment his body structure.”
Others will have kept quiet and allowed the jealousy to hurt their hearts, but not me. I am not like that. I should stop something from happening as soon as I see the signs instead of keeping quiet about it and letting it disturb me.
I pointed towards the sofa and told her to go sit on it. Matilda nodded her head, strolled towards the sofa, and sat down. Immediately, she was seated. The door opened slowly, and Hans appeared.
Unlike other days, Hans looks more handsome today. It is as if he was dipped into crystal water and was pulled out of it. His skin was glowing in the sunshine that was illuminating through the glass windows. Maltida kept smiling at him affectionately. My heart leapt, and I sprang up, glaring at Hans.
“What brought you here? Hans, shouldn't you be attending to some important things in your office? ” His brows lifted in confusion. “Were you not the one who told Thane to get me into your office? ”
Ohh, yes, that was correct. But seeing him dressed this way and Matilda staring at him makes me jealous. And I want him to just leave so she wouldn't look at him again.
“Yes, but…”
“ Alpha Hans?” Matilda interrupted me, getting up from the sofa, bowing her head to Hans. “Good morning, Alpha Hans. It is so nice to meet you. I have heard a lot of things about you, and I am so happy to finally be meeting you, Alpha Hans. Among all the alphas in this kingdom, you are the only one that I like the most because you don't meddle in others’ affairs. You are perfect and you are…”
She paused, glanced at me, and giggled softly. “I mean, among the male alphas.”
Seriously? Was Matilda a blabbermouth, or did it get activated when she saw Hans? “That is enough, Matilda. Now sit down.” My tone was sharp and authoritative. And luckily for her, she heeded my words and sat down quietly.
“Who is she? ” Hans asks, walking towards the desk. “She is the girl I was telling you about yesterday. The lady I brought back from the dark shadow sect.”
I scoffed, sat down on the chair, and folded my arms. “There are a lot of things I would like to ask you, Hans, but first I would like to introduce Matilda to you.”
Before I could start speaking, the knock came on the door, and General Lykon walked in. His appearance at that moment was perfect because I wouldn't have to explain to him what I would tell Hans about Matilda.
“Skip the greeting and have a seat.” I pointed at the chairs in front of the desk. The general nodded his head and sat down.
“As you all know, I haven’t chosen a beta yet because I haven't found anyone capable of that position. Right now, I am pleased to inform you guys that I have found someone whom I trust a lot, and I know that she will hold this position as it should be.”
The general exchanged glances with Hans. “I don't know if my ears are playing tricks on me, Amelia, but did you just say she? meaning the beta is going to be a lady? ” Hans asked confusedly.
“You heard that perfectly. My beta is going to be a female, not a man. I have tasted the man, and I had a bad experience with him. Also, it isn't wrong to make a lady my beta. Have you forgotten that I am an alpha and I am a woman? ”
“But…” I waved my fingers, interrupting him from saying anything. I knew that the general and Hans would be against me choosing a woman as my beta, but their opinion isn't needed. I decide what I want in this pack, and I decide who will be in a certain position.
“Matilda over there is the beta I have chosen, and I expect you to welcome her and guide her towards everything she needs to know.” I turned to General Lykon, who didn't welcome the idea but had no choice but to keep quiet because he knew that I was going to snap him shut if he dared to say anything.
“Take Matilda around and show her the things she is expected to do as a beta. I also want you to train her in the training ground; make sure she masters all the skills needed for a beta to fight. Matilda is already a fierce wolf. But I need her to be braver than she is now. Okay?”
He nodded his head, got up from his chair, and gestured to Matilda to follow him. Matilda got up, walked towards the desk, and bowed her head.
“Thank you so much, Alpha Amelia, for giving me this great opportunity in my life, and I promise you that you won't be disappointed in giving me this position. I will make you proud and protect this pack with all that I have gotten.”
That's my girl, but I hate the way she was smiling and glancing at Hans.
“You are welcome, Matilda. Make sure you keep to your promise and make me proud. Do not do anything stupid that will make me hate you, okay? ”
“You won't hate me, Alpha Amelia, I promise you that. You will keep admiring me the way you are doing now, because I will never cross the limit.”
“Are you sure you are not making a mistake? Amelia, this Matilda of a girl doesn't seem right to me,” Hans said as soon as Matilda and the general were out of the office.
“There is nothing wrong with her, Hans. Just leave her alone and stop talking about her, okay? I have already made my decision, and she has too. Will be my beta.”
“ Stop talking about her? You know that it's impossible as long as she is your beta. There is no way I won't talk about her in front of you, especially when she does something good or something bad.”
