Chapter 78 Untitled Chapter

Chapter 78 Untitled Chapter
One-two, I cracked my fingers, and the statue shattered into pieces. First, the wings were lost to sight, then the horns uprooted, then the dragon's tail vanished, and lastly, his wolf-dragon's head disappeared.

Casper let out a shriek, hands on his ears, and he fell with a thud, and his head shattered into pieces.

I sighed in relief, getting down on my knees. “Thank you, Moon Goddess!” I whispered, and before me, the cloud cleared up, and the sun came up, lighting everywhere.

My eyes became blurry, and my body became weak, but I didn't pass out. I just released myself on the floor to ease my heart pounding in my chest.

The moment my head touched the floor, an enormous energy gushed inside me, and I sprang up.

The way I felt at that moment, I have never felt it before. Even when I first awakened the magic, it wasn't as strong as what I was feeling at that moment.

“Congratulations, Alpha Amelia Brook of Lunskye Pack, you have successfully reached a new echelon of magical power gifted to you by the moon goddess.”

The what! This magical thing has levels, too? Wow!

“Thank you, the voice in my head that never answers my question. Now tell me, what does the new power mean?”

It was silent, the way it always was whenever I asked a question. And when I was about to give up getting an answer, it spoke.

“Now you can command demons, fight them, and control them.”

Wow! That's great. But hell no! I don't pray to encounter any demon in this kingdom; I saw worse here.

“Thank you, the voice in my head; you helped a lot, and I owe you one.” I winked as if it was hearing me.

“You are welcome, Alpha Amelia. And now that my job here is done, I shall take my leave. Although you are stubborn, it was great staying in your head for a few days.”

“I am not stubborn!” I snapped, my face creasing in a frown. “Of course you are, Amelia, but you are sweet.”

Pfft. Whatever!

But if it leaves, who is going to give me suggestions? If I can now summon and control demons, then I need their help.

“You do not need help anymore; you have all it takes. And if there is anyone who will help you in the future, then that will be the moon goddess herself.”

As soon as it said that, a cold breeze swished past me, so refreshing that I had to shut my eyes. I didn't hear a word again, nor feel anything in my head like I used to. It has left.

“Hello?” Amy stamped her paw on my mind. “Do not forget I helped too.”

“Of course you did, Amy. How will I ever forget my beautiful, smart wolf?” I chuckled, jumping down from the stage.

Amy giggled too, and together, we sighed in relief.

“Now we can go back to our mates. I've missed Kael a lot!” She howled excitedly. “I missed Hans, too, but I am still upset with him because he didn't support me when I told him about what I did to those fools at the Harmony pack.”

“Ignore him; he was only afraid you might get into trouble. When we return home, you will see the way he will gush over you.” She giggled.

One will think my wolf is a relationship expert, but she is only a fool in love. Hahahahaha.

Carefully, I moved steps, cautious not to step on any of the bodies lying around. The air has started reeking of their dirty blood, and some of them have started to decay: the vampires.

As I kept walking forward, I saw a familiar face lying among the corpses: only the head. And when I paused to analyze it, it was Draco’s, the stupid vampire who was hitting on me three days ago.

His mouth was opened wide, fangs sprouted, and like the other vampires, he was so pale and already decaying because of the sun.

“Our job here is done.” Amy reminded me, and I bobbed my head. “What is left now is to go back to the Lunskye pack and live with a free mind.”

Across all the streets, corpses were scattered everywhere, houses were burning, and others were already burnt down.

I traced the laundry shop, and luckily, nothing happened to it; it was the only building that wasn't touched by the war.

Matilda must have done what I told her to do. What a good girl.

Yesterday, before leaving with Mr. Wood, I gave her my hairpin and told her to leave it on her head and not take it off. That way, my power will recognize the hairpin and won't touch anywhere it feels it.

I kicked away Mr. Wood’s corpse, which was lying in front of the laundry shop, pushed the door backward and exhaled.

“Matilda?” I called, heading towards the inner room. “Matilda?” I called again, but got no response.

“Where in the name of the moon goddess did she wander to?”

She wasn't in the inner room, nor was she in the bathroom.

I didn't panic because I knew that she wouldn't be dead. That hairpin would shield her from getting hit by the magic.

I stepped out, looking around, but there wasn't any house that wasn't destroyed, so where was Matilda? Where did she go?

When my eyes darted to the floor where Mr. Wood lay, something flickered in his hand. I lowered myself, stretched out my hand, and saw Matilda’s necklace in his hand.

My heart skipped a beat, and a ball of sweat gathered on my forehead instantly.

What did he do to Matilda? And what was he doing here in the first place? Did he take advantage of her or what?!

“Matilda!” I screamed, running back to the shop.

I ran inside the kitchen, but she wasn't there, and nothing showed that she had gone in there. I dashed to the backyard but couldn't find her there either.

“I can't scent her,” Amy sniffed worriedly. “All I can smell is smoke.”

All I could smell was smoke, not lavender scent. “Keep sniffing; we must find her.” I returned to the shop, went back to the room, and searched every day. From the closet to under the bed, but she wasn't there.

However, my instinct drew my attention to the bathroom again, and this time, I pushed the door back, stepped inside, and right there inside the bathtub, she floated on the blood-soaked water.
