From a distance I saw Nora in her white shirt and black skirt, who looked like an elegant fairy. With a cup of yogurt in her hand, she angrily pouted and strode toward me, huffing, "Jayden, you're late again."
I paused a beat and looked at my watch. "No. You give me one hour, remember?"
She said coldly, Douchebag, I've been waiting for you for five minutes. No one dares to let me wait for him."
I rolled my eyes. I was a douchebag, only because I let her wait for me?"
She was brainwashed by the lousy romance novels.
I said under my breath, "By the way, why did you meet me here?" "Look!" She showed me two tickets of the theme park and said in pride, "What do you say? It's my treat today."
I was flabbergasted. "Can I say 'no'?"
She shook her head and said seriously, "Of course not. Come on!"
Then she grabbed me by my arm and rushed into the park. I hesitated before following her.
Although I didn't take her yesterday, I did do something to her body. And I wanted to pay for it by hanging out with her in the park.
Then I would tell her to keep a distance with me.
After entering the park, we took the roller coaster first.
To be honest, I kind of terrified of heights. So, when I was on it, looking at the view below, I was scared in a sweat. I glimpsed at Nora who was excited and looking around. She seemed like a caged bird escaping from her cage.
She twisted her head to find me nervous and appalled, "Are you terrified?" I nodded and painfully asked, "You've got so many men having a crush on you. Why do you want me to ride it with you?"
She pouted. "Those cowards won't make it, because Hector's hitmen would kill them. However, you're a an invincible badass."
Although Nora was pathetic, Hector's behavior did amuse me a lot.
His overbearing love may be welcomed in TV dramas by young lassies, but honestly, his love was selfish as he regarded Nora as his personal belongings.
I snapped out of my thoughts by a shrill whistle. When the roller coaster started to move slowly, I closed my eyes anxiously, scared to look around.
In the following process, I didn't open my eyes. It wasn't that I was too timid. I was just terrified of heights. If I opened my eyes, I'd pass out due to the thrilling visual effect.
But Nora seemed to be happy all the way, shouting and screaming to her heart's content,
After a few minutes, the train slowed down to pull off. Finally, I could let out a sigh of relief and open my eyes, a sheet of sweat on my forehead.
She said in distain as she took off the gear, "How could a coward like you beat Hector up last night?"
I whined with my pale shocked face, "Come on. I'm not the mighty God."
Nobody's perfect, but I did think there existed a perfectly flawless one. And that would be my Emelia.
Most of the projects were for thrill. While I was too terrified to experience them all, Nora was interested in them. When I smoked under the high facilities, hearing those terrifying screams, I wondered why would people get themselves engaged into activities they feared.
Maybe they just enjoyed the thrilling process, addicted to the overwhelming sensation.
It was 7 p. m. as we sauntered in the park.
I looked at my watch and said, "Let's go home. It's kind of late."
I had to go home early or Emelia would be angry with me again.
But Nora dragged me toward the haunting house. "One last fun, please."
I hesitated as it wouldn't take too long. So, I didn't reject.
Other players were too terrified to lead the team, but Nora was willing to walk ahead of others, and she grabbed me with her.
It turned out she was afraid of haunting ghosts, while I have no feelings for those stuff as I had been through bloody hell.
In the end, those working staff who played ghosts were confused about my calmness.
After leaving the haunting house, Nora's face was pale enough to show she was shocked to death. She patted herself on her chest and comforted herself, "Those ghosts were fake. Nora, dear, don't be scared. You're the most beautiful girl in the world fearing nothing…"
Ha! Women are dumb.
She was talking nonsense.
Nora rubbed her belly and proposed, "Let's go to dinner! I know a place which has grilled fish."
I shook my head. "You promised that I could go home after leaving the theme park."
She nodded. "Yeah, but you have to have dinner with me first."
I felt I was fooled by her, but I had to please her. I had no choice but to follow her lead.
It was already 8 p. m., I thought we could finish the dinner in one hour as I had nothing to chat with her. So, I texted to Emelia, "Sorry, Emelia, but I'm going to have dinner outside."
"Whatever you like." She texted back so quickly that I wondered if she was waiting for my text. Her jealous fury filled the text.
I felt guilty as if I was a dandy selfish idiot who had a thoughtful wife wait for him to come home for dinner.
Which upset me a lot.
Nora and I found the grilled fish restaurant. She seemed to frequent this restaurant as she knew the menu too well. After ordering the dish, I said seriously to her, "Can you stay out of life, please?"
She was discontent. "Why?" I said coldly, "I've got my true love."
She sneered, "I didn't know you are a Tik Tok fan. You want me to ask you who is your true love, so you can answer that it's me, right?" I was dumbfounded and asked, "What is Tik Tok?"
"Oh my gosh!" She was surprised. "You don't know Tik Tok? The popular short-video app. You're so out of date, man."
I didn't know all the popular apps because I used to live in Burma where people liked to go to underground casinos and rings for fun. Sometimes I would join a battle in the rings as a player.
She clicked open the app on her cellphone and, with her screen in front of us, she moved to me, waving at her screen. "Hello, guys, this is my best friend."
I hastily covered my face with my hands. She scoffed, "Don't be shy."
I growled, "Delete the video!"
She huffed, "Why?"
"Delete it!" I abruptly roared, a punitive coldness radiating off of him in waves. My overbearing voice rang in the restaurant.
The air in the restaurant felt colder and more intense as my eyes were blood-red, which scared Nora.
I didn't mean to lose my temper, but I was afraid that my video uploaded might go viral online and expose my location.
Then Nora might be involved in danger due to me.
So, I did this for our sake.
With tearful eyes, she deleted the video as she pouted. Lucky me it only got less than five hits.
Then the manager of the restaurant gave us a gift dish to calm us down.
Many people in the restaurant glared at me as they thought I wasn't a gentleman to yell at a lady in public.
I could indulge her with any dramas but this one, because it was too dangerous for both of us.
Before long, here came our grilled fish. I thought Nora would be too upset to have it, but she transferred her anger into desire for food. She gulped while she was glaring at me as if she was eating me.
I also calmed down, looking at her have the fish.
She was too exasperated to talk to me, which was what I desired, as I've got nothing to say to her.
She got full after half an hour and hiccupped without manners, lying in the couch languidly. After calling the manager to pay the bill, we were about to leave.
However, there came sound of footsteps. I got a bad feeling.
I twisted my head, and what I saw shocked me.
It was Hector who broke in with his suit-and-tie lackeys.
