Chapter 54 Clash of Destiny
Chapter 54 Clash of Destiny
The cave erupted into chaos, Morgana’s power slammed into the chamber as a storm unleashed—dark mist coiling, twisting, alive with malice. The silver barrier embedded in the cave walls flickered violently, struggling to hold against the surge of opposing force. Zoe stood at the centre of it all, unmoving and unshaken.
Her silver eyes burned brighter than ever. “You will not take him,” she said, her voice steady, layered with both her own strength and something far older. Morgana laughed, the sound echoing unnaturally. “You think this is about taking him?” she sneered. “This is about ending everything.” Zack stepped beside Zoe, his aura flaring as Zeus pushed forward. “Then you’ll have to go through us.”
Jacob and Lucas moved into formation behind them, warriors instinctively falling into place. The tension snapped like a drawn bowstring. The hybrid—silent until now—shifted slightly, his gaze locked onto Morgana with something that looked dangerously close to hatred. “She’s been searching for me for centuries,” he said quietly. Zoe glanced at him. “And you didn’t think to mention that earlier?”
He gave a faint, almost amused smile. “You didn’t ask,” Zack growled. “Not the time.” Morgana lifted her hand, and the ground split. Dark tendrils shot forward, aiming for Zoe and the hybrid. Zoe reacted instantly—her power surging outward in a burst of silver light. The tendrils shattered on impact, dissolving into nothing. The force of it pushed everyone back slightly. Zack steadied himself. “Okay… that’s new.”
Lucas whistled under his breath. “I’m not even going to pretend I understand what just happened.” Jacob’s eyes stayed locked on Morgana “Focus.” Morgana’s smile faded slightly. “You’ve grown stronger than I expected,” she admitted. Zoe didn’t respond; instead, she stepped forward, and each step made the cave tremble. “You’ve been hiding behind others,” Zoe said. “Manipulating them. Using them.” Morgana tilted her head. “And it worked.”
Zoe’s gaze hardened. “Not anymore.” Morgana’s eyes darkened. “Enough.” She moved, faster than before, her form blurred as she lunged directly for the hybrid. Zack reacted instantly, “No, you don’t!” He shifted mid-run, Zeus taking over as a massive black wolf crashed into Morgana’s mist form, disrupting her attack. The cave shook. Morgana hissed, reforming a few feet away. “Pathetic wolf,” she spat. Zack snarled, stepping in front of Zoe again. “Try me again.”
Lucas and Jacob moved in sync. “Flank her,” Jacob ordered. Lucas nodded. The two of them attacked from opposite sides, forcing Morgana to split her focus. For a moment— It worked. But Morgana wasn’t just any enemy; she adapted quickly. A wave of dark energy exploded outward, knocking both Jacob and Lucas back violently. They hit the ground hard. “Shit,” Lucas groaned, pushing himself up. Jacob wiped blood from his lip. “She’s stronger than any witch I’ve ever seen.”
Zoe’s eyes flashed. “Because she’s not just a witch.” The realisation settled heavily. Half-witch, something else, something ancient. The hybrid stepped forward, “I’ll handle her.” Zoe grabbed his arm. “No.” He looked down at her, surprised. “I’m the reason she’s here.” “And I’m the reason you’re alive,” Zoe shot back. “So don’t make decisions without me.”
For a moment, He looked almost impressed. Morgana laughed again “Still protecting him?” she mocked. “How noble.” Zoe turned toward her. “Still hiding behind power, you don’t fully control?” Morgana’s smile dropped. “Careful, Zoe.” Zoe didn’t hesitate. “Or what?” The air snapped, Morgana’s power surged violently, and the cave walls cracked further “OR I END YOU.” She launched forward again—this time not as mist, but fully solid, her claws aimed directly for Zoe’s throat.
Everything slowed; Zack moved, but he wasn’t fast enough. Then the hybrid moved, but Zoe was faster. She caught Morgana’s wrist mid-air. The impact sent a shockwave through the cave. Silver and dark energy collided violently. Zoe’s eyes glowed blindingly bright. “You don’t get to decide that.” Her grip tightened. Morgana gasped slightly. For the first time, she was being overpowered. Zack froze, watching because this— This wasn’t just Zoe anymore.
This was something else, something… terrifying. Zoe twisted her hand, and Morgana’s arm bent unnaturally; a crack echoed. Morgana screamed; the sound was raw and real. Then Zoe leaned closer. “You’ve hurt too many people,” she said quietly. “You’ve taken too much.” Morgana’s eyes burned with fury. “And you’ve hidden what belongs to me!” Zoe’s expression darkened. “He doesn’t belong to you.” Morgana laughed through the pain. “He belongs to power.”
Zoe shook her head, “No.” Her voice dropped. “He belongs to himself.” With a final surge, Zoe threw Morgana across the cave. She crashed into the wall, the impact shaking the entire chamber, and dust and debris fell around them. Silence followed. Lucas blinked, “…Remind me never to piss her off.” Jacob nodded slowly. “Agreed.” Morgana slowly pushed herself up, and blood dripped from her mouth, but she was still smiling “You’re still holding back.”
Zoe didn’t deny it. “Because I’m not like you.” Morgana’s smile widened. “That’s why you’ll lose.” The cave trembled again, stronger this time, more violent. The barrier flickered dangerously, and the hybrid looked up. “…She’s breaking it.” Zoe’s eyes snapped toward the walls. “No.” Morgana laughed. “I don’t need him anymore.” Zack stiffened. “What?” Morgana’s eyes gleamed. “I just needed your power to weaken the barrier.” Zoe’s heart dropped. “She used me…” The realisation hit hard.
The barrier cracked, light shattered, and darkness seeped in. The cave began collapsing. “Everyone out!” Jacob shouted. Lucas grabbed James. “Move!” Zack grabbed Zoe’s arm. “We need to go!” Zoe didn’t move. Her eyes were locked on Morgana. “No.” Zack frowned. “Zoe—”
“She’s not leaving.” Morgana smiled. “Smart girl.” Zoe stepped forward. Power building again, stronger, more controlled. “You wanted me?” Her voice echoed dangerously. “Then you deal with me.” Zack’s chest tightened. He didn’t like this, not one bit. But he could feel it— This was something Zoe had to do. The hybrid stepped beside her. “I’m not leaving you,” Zack growled. “Back off.” The hybrid didn’t even look at him. Zoe sighed.
“Both of you… stop.” they did immediately. Zoe faced Morgana, the cave crumbling around them, time was running out “You’re not winning this.” Morgana tilted her head. “Then show me.” Zoe closed her eyes. For a moment, everything stilled, her power, her thoughts, her fear, then she let go…not of control, but of doubt. Her eyes snapped open, blinding silver, and the ground exploded beneath her. Power surged outward, not chaotic or wild, but it was precise and focused.
Morgana’s smile finally faltered. “…What are you—” The light hit her, and this time, she didn’t laugh. The cave erupted, and the outcome was no longer certain.
