Chapter 28

CLAIRE'S POV

You did what?? My dad screamed and I jolted, out of fear. “I-I touched it and I felt really weird, I could feel something like an energy or power flowing from my body into its body and its wounds started closing up-”

“Dammit, Claire!, what have you done?!” My Father slammed his hands on the table and shouted at the top of his voice.

“I-I- just wanted to help the poor thing-”

“I warned you- didn't I?” Erica interrupted on the other side of the table.

“Follow me!” Dad ordered and we both followed him immediately. He drew the curtains behind his wardrobe and a brown, huge metal door with metal lock appeared in sight. He then clicked on a button at the side of the lock and the enormous gate opened noisily showing a dark passage. My Father led and we followed him hesitantly, one after the other. I muttered some magical words and a light appeared on my fingers, helping us to get a clear view of the passage.

It was old, muddy and smells musty, like a century old stacked clothes. From the view of the passage I was able to guess that we were underground. My Father led the way and we followed suit. He stopped at the entrance of a small blue door, entered and we followed him, hesitantly.

On entering, I discovered that it was a mini library. Full of old books on old, cracked shelves. We watched as my Father scurried over to one of the old shelves, scattered the shelves impatiently as he looked for whatever.

“Found it” he muttered, breathing heavily as he held an old , tattered book. Without wasting time, he began searching the book for a particular page while we looked on, curiosity written on our faces.

“Found it” my dad said for the upteenth time and we quickly moved closer to him. On the page written: “The cursed wolf- THE ORIGIN

“Read it out!” My father ordered and I obeyed immediately. “ Behold, the cursed wolf is one of a kind, a one in a million mystical creature, in whose origin nothing was found and has possibly gone extinct -”

“Read the next paragraph!” My father ordered impatiently and I read out loud: “APPEARANCE - The cursed wolf is not only mysterious in looks but also scary- a horn in the middle of its head, three eyes and a black scaly skin-” I read out loud, trying to connect the dots.

“Pause, and move to the next paragraph!” My father ordered again and I read out the next paragraph which says: “SIDE EFFECTS OF MEETING A CURSED WOLF - Hear me, he who meets or touches the cursed wolf shall be cursed too- there shall be transferrence of energy and the victim would become weak and die within few days-”

“That’s fine”, he interrupted.

“Now tell me how he looks and where you met him at once!” He ordered and although I and Erica were confused, I had to comply.

“It was brown in colour, very huge, two horns on both sides of its head, two eyes, furry and fluffy hair, blue eyes -” I tried explaining but he cut me off again.

“What happened when you touched it?”

“The same thing I read in this book happened Father - I felt something shook my entire being and entered the monster” I said, still confused.

“What happened Father?” I asked.

“Its not a cursed wolf is it?” Erica asked for the first time.

“It isn't” he sighed, looking relieved.”

Afterwards he promised to help me to find out and warned me against touching such creatures if I ever come across one again.

The day went by in a jiffy but that same night, I had a dream.. In my dream I saw myself in a small strange room and while I was still wondering where I was, an handsome young man approached me I vould have called him a fallen angel if he had wings. He's tall, has black wavy hair that cascaded down his shoulders and we'll carved eye brows. He was so handsome that I gawked at him shamelessly but either handsome or not he gave off a deadly aura that I couldn't help but notice immediately.

“Who do we have here?,My beautiful bold girl of course” he approached me smiling and I moved back.

“Don't come closer!” I warned, pointing a finger at him.

“And if I do?” He asked, tilting his head to a side while still approaching me.

I kept moving back until I felt my back touching the wall and I covered my face and cowered in fear, still wondering why the young man never stopped approaching me.

“What do you want from me?!” I screamed out.

He moved closer to me and I could feel his breath slowly brushing against my skin, a mixture of lemon and mint. He removed my hands from my face and looked deep into my eyes. “Nothing” he said. “I want nothing from you, just came to say a big thank you for the help you rendered to me” he said as I tried to remember if we've met anywhere.

“Sorry but I don't think I've met you anywhere at all!” I screamed out, trying not to make him notice how much he's affecting me because of our closeness.

“Well… the monster you healed in the forests” he said and I shouted, remembering the events that unfolded in the forest.

“N-no-” I muttered, not able to form my words as I looked at him from head to toe unbelievably.

“I had thought it would end there but I ended up discovering that you are more than just an helper to me, we are gonna be long-time business partners” he said and smiled, the most beautiful smile I've ever seen and I spaced out, just looking at his smile and he coughed, jolting me back to my senses.

“I'm not your business partner!, I only helped you and-and please just let me go back to my family-”

He simply looked at me like I have gone out of my mind “says who?” I wonder what you would do if you find out that we are me…”
