Chapter 42 Forty two

Chapter 42 Forty two
BRENDA'S POV
The steam from the natural spring was easing up my tense muscles when I suddenly felt someone's eyes on me than the water nudging up a bit.
This was followed by rushing footsteps when I turned my head I saw a sharp familiar face drenched with worry.
 "Tho-"
He placed his hand on my lips with a slight but sharp hissing sound, "Brenda, please don't make a sound some vampires are going here at any minute,"
My eyes widened and if his hand had not been on my lips I would have yelled.
"There are far all many of them, I've barely recovered from my wound, and you...well let's just say you are not in a condition for battle,"
It was then I realized that I was having this conversation with my mate looking as bare as the day that I came into this world, but as my cheeks reddened up to my ears they were still able to catch the sound of rushing footsteps.
They were almost here, what would we do?
Thomas then looked me in the eyes and asked; Brenda, I've thought of something it's a little crazy so I need to ask you..."He paused"...Brenda do you trust me?"
To this question, I didn't waste any time in nodding while our relationship was exactly quite normal like most mates I knew that whenever I was in a tough pinch that I couldn't escape he was always there.
As soon as I said this he let go of my lips and said; Now take a deep breath.
It was only after gulping up a generous mouthful of air that I then realized what he was planning but by then it was far too late to back out as he dragged me into this spring water.
As soon as he did this the vampires finally burst in, we couldn't see them clearly because of the mist that the spring was giving off and our scent was cloaked in the water.
The only problem was that we were quickly running out of breath as the vampires were inspecting.
"Are you sure you saw him?"One said.
"Didn't you see the footprints? And look at the ripples in the water? He must have been here."
"Then he must be getting away, let's get that bastard!"
 Then there was a pause.
"Then why do his footprints end at this towards the rocks of the springs?"
The question caused silence among the vampires for a while and they began to talk more quietly while I hoped they would just go already, just then the sound of their footsteps faded, I would have sighed if that wouldn't cause water to rush into my lungs and kill me.
Thank goodness for the training we had at Marge island for controlling our breathing for the swimming practice.
Suddenly their nasty face of Jessica flashed through my mind and I waved it off before it would make me lose focus.
I looked at Thomas, he looked back at me, I pulled him so that he could come up to the surface but instead the weight of his body fell on my hand as I could see that he was losing control of his breathing.
I swam down-gosh this spring was quite deep- grabbed his face and without another thought planted my lips on his to share my breath with him.
And at that moment his eyelashes that had looked so heavy jumped open and he followed me till we burst out gasping for breath.
 "Brenda, are you okay?"
He called for me and I looked at him.
"Why are you worried for me?!"I scolded him "you're the only one who almost ran out of breath...you shouldn't have done something so reckless what if..."
I paused breathing hard as he threw his shirt over me.
"You can scold me all you want later, but now we have to go...I'm sorry you'll have to manage my shirt, finding and wearing your own clothes will be a waste of time now."
I agreed with him, but now I had a full view of his bare chest and my cheek reddened again with embarrassment.
We rushed out of the spring and arrived at the cabin to change into warmer clothes and I could see that Thomas was so unsettled.
The vampires already had silver ammunition, how they got something so rare was another source of headache on its own.
"Thomas please talk to me, what do we do? these vampires..."
"I know, Brenda," He said settling on the couch with me clasping his fingers together.
"We can't wait for them to round up more numbers-or get more silver bullets-I don't think we can keep this to ourselves, we will have to inform the packs and see what ideas they have,"
I nodded, we couldn't do this alone, anyone who could pitch in and lend a hand should.
"I'll tell my men to send out the information ASAP..."
He said then he turned to me,"...how about you? How are you doing?"
 "Me?"I asked.
"Well this is my first time on a battlefield, so I'll do what I can not go fall behind-"
"That wasn't what I was asking you, "He said cutting in.
"I mean, how are you feeling? If this is too much for you then I won't judge if you want to back out,"
 I looked at him.
"It's fine, really...besides I can't just back down after all my training-"
"When you do training, you fail and you get a chance to do better...guess what?in battle a simple mistake may cost you your life...are you prepared for that?"
I tilted my head, "I'll answer that question, but first I need to know who it's coming from..."I began"...my mate or the royal Lycan prince?"
His look instantly softened after I said that and he got up raking his hair.
"I was just so helpless today, you had to be the one to save me! I wouldn't be able to bear it if something happened to you in battle...how would my mother even react..."
"What are you saying, Thomas?"I asked my heart in my throat.
"I'm saying that you should redraw from this battle,"
