CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT

We continued the journey as I waited to listen intently to the tale he was telling, as we rounded a corner, suddenly, from the shadows, a pack of werewolves stopped in our tracks and attacked us. He was forced to stop the car as their feral intensity glowed in their eyes. I panicked a lot but he remained calm and he stepped out of the car and asked, “who are you guys?” one of them stepped forward and said “you don’t have to know that we have been sent here for a reason and we came to fulfil it.”

I could feel my legs and arms shaking because of how husky their voice felt it was as if there was a thunder strike as rage filled the air and the intent to kill was imminent. Before he could react, several of them pounced on him tearing into his flesh with their claws, and some took me hostage and put me in another car waiting for the others to finish their damage on Sebastian. It was clear they were not from Sebastian’s pack, as their mark wasn’t on them. Everything felt crazy and he fought bravely to protect me but he was taken down. There were just too many of them, and they attacked him at once.

I sat in the car crying my eyes out. Everything felt like a dream and in a split second I didn’t know what had hit me. tears flowed and his blood stained the ground. It was an ungodly sight that made me feel crazy, I felt annoyed that I couldn’t react nor help him. I was too weak and what would a weak wolf like me do? Everything was like a dream. Sebastian was down and I was left in the car sitting there looking at him on the floor in despair but I could do nothing. Why? Why should this happen to me? Today was the day he had made me so happy and he was just recovering. Several thoughts flowed through my mind but they weren’t enough to save him. I looked around only to find a masked woman approaching Sebastian. Who was she? She looked familiar but with a mask I couldn’t really know who she was. I looked at her for any hint of where I knew her from but it was in vain, she stood near Sebastian and kicked him in the gut. I couldn’t bear the sacrilege. Why would she do this to him? Sebastian does not deserve this but I had no say. I was just there shedding tears, looking and hoping that someone would appear from the shadows and save him from the claws of the evil woman that stood in front of him

“I told you to leave that weak and useless girl alone, but you refused. Now see where you are. You have no choice now, you'll have to do what I want.” I heard her say while she looked at me intently with an intent gaze filled with hatred and dissatisfaction. I knew it was Ayesha from her words but why would she do this to him. Why? I was busy questioning myself with tears in my eyes when I heard her say “bring that crazy bitch here right now.” And I was dragged out of the car and I was dragged to her and brought to my knees. I looked at him and tears kept on dropping from my eyes. I really don’t understand what’s going on anymore. Why would everything end today?

Sebastian looked up and stared into her face “if you lay a finger on her I would kill you I swear on the blood of my ancestors I would desecrate you.” he said with determination in his face. But she looked and kicked him in the stomach again while he growled in horror. And she looked at me and kicked me in the stomach too. I groaned in pain. I didn't really know she was capable of doing something so crazy.

“I have a quest for you, and this is a test, in three days we would get married, and I would release her, but if you disagree I would leave you in your despair and it would mean the end of her. This isn’t a challenge. You’ve always found a way to save her. Let's see how you do that this time from the coffin of your home and her own prison. This is a game and I would like to see how you fix this puzzle this time around.” She said laughing viciously.

“You know what I hate about you? you talk too much and I hate it. I would rather die than get married to you. If you really think this is the best you can come to then get ready to die for it. I would fulfil my promise of killing you and those around you without sparing anyone. I would desecrate you and hang your dead body in front of the palace gate while your friend and other family members would be hanging upside down in the courtyard. How fun is that for a celebration of victory.” He said while laughing his laughter echoing through the void left by the air in the surroundings.

I looked at his face and stared into his eyes. They held deep conviction, one that meant a lot to me. My fear was lifted and my burden left me. I smiled a bit at his words. I knew he would never forsake me or leave me. I knew he would stay with me always and forever I knew he would come for me I was ready for anything she wanted to bring forth be it death, maim or punishment I knew nothing would happen to me under Sebastian’s watch he was my hero one that would always be there for me when I wanted him to I loved him so much and I was ready for anything at all.
