Lunar Ball - Part III
She was baffled after reading the letter's contents. She flipped the letter back and forth to see if anything was written in the back, but it was empty. If the letter only contained that much knowledge, how will she know the truth? She sighed and knelt to retrieve the envelope. Something sharp tore through her skin as soon as her fingers touched the edges of the envelope, and bright red drops of blood gushed through her finger, coloring the envelope red. As soon as her blood touched the paper, a bright light ripped through it, almost blinding her and throwing her to the stone floor. Her palm came over her eyes, attempting to shield them from the bright light. Soon after, the light went out, and she opened her eyes to see that the envelope and letter had also vanished.
Her brow furrowed in befuddlement as she searched for any traces of the letter or the light, but nothing appeared to have happened. She sighed and rose to her feet. Her steps stumbled as soon as she extended her leg toward the balcony, as an audible hitch was heard in her breath. As her eyes widened and a gasp erupted from within her chest, a sharp pain shot through her ribcage. Her fingers clutched the clothing material sitting right over her heart as she fell on her knees, memories from that night flooding in like a rapid flood drowning her with the overflowing water. Tears gushed down her cheeks as the pain grew sharper and sharper. That Alpha! That Alpha she had assassinated all those years ago! Those eyes haunted her, the eyes through which she had seen glimmers of hope and abortion for her.
She wept silently as the reality drowned her in its truth. They'd used her to assassinate her own soulmate, and she didn't feel a thing, not a single remorse. What kind of monster had she turned into! It was evident that they had concealed everything from her, but she was still responsible for following through with their plans. As her silent cries became louder, tears streamed down her cheeks like a never-ending waterfall. She cried and cried for the male she never got to know, for that male whose name she doesn't know, for the part of her soul she murdered in cold blood and never felt a thing. For the other half of her soul, she will never be able to hold close.

In this massive room filled with people, she was alone. Been an hour since the ball had commenced, Aiden was by her side when she had stepped into the huge ballroom filled with people she doesn't recognize. The Alpha Couples from around the world had come to introduce themselves and curtsied her after her introduction to the people. She had hoped to see her previous pack's Alpha, but they were nowhere to be found. Aiden had left her quite a moment ago to mingle with the wolves and she was left alone in the sea of elegant people she doesn't know. She had hoped to have Hilda but, she didn't join the ball as she had claimed to be unwell. She stood at a corner of the room as her eyes silently searched for Aiden. Her gaze was drawn to him among a group of elderly supernaturals dressed in tuxedos. He was only standing among them, holding a glass of whisky, while everyone else was chatting and laughing. There was a gloomy shadow over his face, an unfathomable pain that he was attempting to conceal but she could see. He felt her gaze on him and turned his eyes towards her, giving her a blooming smile that she returned before returning his gaze to the group of men.
"Luna!" Faye was taken aback when a female curtsied in front of her. As the female stood up straight, Faye composed herself and smiled at her.
"My name is Victoria, My Lady. Aiden's childhood friend. It's a pleasure to meet you." She introduced herself, and Faye gave her a wide-eyed look.
"Lady Victoria, it's a pleasure to meet you."
They chatted as time passed and the night grew dark. For once in the evening, she was grateful for the company she'd received. Victoria had brought them two glasses of champagne and led her to the balcony for some fresh air.
"You are a great company Victoria. Will you be here tomorrow? I would love to have your company again." Victoria looked at her, surprised, as she said this with a kind smile.
"I have to leave tonight after the ball, Luna. You are very kind, unlike her." She whispered the last part, even though it was her intention that Faye would hear her.
"Unlike who?" Faye asked and Victoria's eyes widened as she hurriedly said,
"I meant unlike many others, My Luna." Faye's brows frowned,
"But you specifically said unlike her. Is there something I don't know about?"
"Please forgive me, Luna but I cannot tell." Victoria lowered her head and Faye grabbed her palm in her hands,
"Please tell me what is that everyone is hiding? I can feel there is something everyone is trying to conceal from me. You seem to be a kind female so please!" Her voice was desperate and Victoria lifted her head a smirk building up in the cover of her sweet smile. This is the chance she has been waiting for all evening.

Armaita kept staring at her as time passed. Seraphina's head was bowed as Armaita peered at her, trying to figure her out. Seraphina had been in her private chamber for nearly half an hour. Her eyes were red, and dried tear stains adorned her cheeks.
"You wish to know something, sweetheart?" After a few moments, Armaita inquired, and Seraphina raised her head.
"Ask me anything!" Armaita assured her with a smile
"I wish to know the truth," Seraphina spoke slowly, her voice trembling.
"The truth of me. The truth of the other half of my soul. I wish to conquer the memories that have been concealed from me." Seraphina said staring right into her eyes. It was already the early hours of the morning, even though it was still dark outside. She had been crying for hours before summoning the courage to stand up and face the truth. She wished to know and feel everything. And for that, she needed the memories that had been concealed away. She had no recollection of the faces of those she'd killed, no remorse for their deaths, and no idea if she'd killed beasts she knew. Every time she felt something for someone, their memories were taken away and she was forced to remove them from her path. Those feelings and memories were only an impediment in her path they had claimed.
Armaita nodded and walked closer to Seraphina. She brought Seraphina closer by her neck and pressed her forehead against hers. Armaita had the ability to discern the truth, unravel the twisted lies, and unveil the hidden memory. Seraphina gasped and Armaita trembled on her feet as their foreheads touched and Armaita chanted something under her breath. Seraphina fell to her knees as they stared at each other, bewildered. Her memories were altered, the truth was twisted with dark magic, and everything came crashing down around her. Armaita quivered as she consumed all the dark magic used to conceal the memories of Seraphina. Seraphina was on her knees at the sudden weight of remorse, but not a single tear was shed. It was time for retaliation. They shall receive everything they had thrown her way. But first, she needed to see her other half, whom she had lost only because he was unfortunate enough to be paired with her.
