Lunar Ball - Part II

Hilda noticed Faye nervously fiddling with her fingers.

"Nervous?" She inquired as she straightened her wavey brown hair.

"I've never been to a ball before, and the thought of people makes me nervous." She gave a nervous smile.

"Better prepare yourself, because there will be a lot of people." Even though Hilda expected her to be absolutely petrified, Faye's eyes shone brightly.

"Will Princess Sarina be there as well?" she asked, her eyes twinkling. Hilda was flummoxed by her question.

"Sarina?"

"That Princess with the stunning red hair. Will she be there as well?" Hilda's eyes glistened up with pain as she realized who she was questioning. She shifted her gaze away from Faye and began working on her hair.

"You mean Princess Seraphina." She curtly said

"Yes, I have mistaken her name! So, will she also be there?" Faye shook her head, dissatisfied with herself.

"No, she will not," Hilda replied curtly, and Faye's gleeful eyes fell with sadness.

"Why?" In hushed tones, she inquired.

"I don't know."

"I wished I could meet her." As Hilda continued to do her hair, she expressed her remorse.

"Why are you bothering asking about her?" Hilda inquired, and Faye raised her head.

Faye fiddled with her fingers nervously as she began speaking softly.

"I lived in the Vidurnakčio Pack these past years. But before that, I was kidnapped by vampires from my old Pack, where I lived with my parents. I was taken away to be sold as a slave with other she-wolves. For days, they had tortured, beaten, and raped us. When all hope seemed lost for us, a female in black armor wielding two mighty swords appeared slaughtered all the Vampires and set us free. Regardless of the fact that I couldn't see her face, her scarlet red hair and those fierce hazel eyes stayed with me for the last five years. I only prayed for a chance to thank her and see her again, and Goddess answered my prayers; I saw her that day in the infirmary but couldn't express my gratitude." She sighed, and Hilda stared at her, bewildered and traumatized to learn her story.

"I had hoped to see her after he had brought her to this castle. I had looked for her quietly but couldn't find her. I tried to ask Lady Megan, but she cut me off." Hilda looked at her as she sighed. Megan had grown close to Seraphina, treating her as her own, and the events of her departure and Aiden's having a second mate had an impact on her. She became ferocious toward Faye.

"Princess Seraphina is the Heir of Drinealia. So, I don't think you'll get another chance to see her." Hilda said curtly, and Faye's face fell. As she worked on her hair and makeup, a question lingered on her mind.

Faye nervously ran her hand over the soft material of her dress as she took one last look in the mirror and exhaled deeply. She was dressed in an emerald A-line dress with an off-the-shoulder neckline. Lace tails onto the shoulder and comes back up at the wrist. The back bodice is a lovely illusion made of lace that opens and closes with buttons and loops. The lace trails back onto the skirt. The hem is finished with a dramatic lace border. Her hair was styled in a simple sweet hive updo. Her look was completed with a simple necklace and diamond studs.

"You look stunning!" Hilda said and Faye smiled nervously and looked back at herself in the mirror.

"Lady Faye?" Hilda summoned her attention, and she turned around.

"How did you end up in this pack?" Faye frowned as Hilda inquired solemnly.

"I'm not sure. I can't recall anything." Faye shook her head as she lowered her gaze.

"I only remember walking out of my small cottage to get some food and I felt a sharp pain in my head. Then I was awakened by his presence and scent!"

A broad and starlit sky deepens to a midnight blue. Wands of rising branches became dancing silhouettes in the moonlight as they sway with the light breeze. 'Every end is a beginning and midnight is just the same.' She recalls her mother saying those words to her when she was afraid of the darkness that came with the night. Even though slowly her fright of the darkness vanished, she still couldn't grasp the new begging at end of everything.

„Jūsų Didenybė“! A female voice drew her attention, followed by a knock on her door. Though she didn't bother answering or opening the door.

(Your Highness)

„Jūsų Didenybe, jūsų vardu yra raidė“. The voice said it again, and the mention of the letter piqued her interest.

(Your Highness, there is a letter in your name.)

„Palik viduje“! She ordered and heard the door gently open and close. She walked inside and saw an envelope. The envelope was immaculate as if it had passed through a steam press rather than the hands of the letter carrier. She picked it up and turned through it, trying to figure out who had sent it, but it only had her name written in old cursive handwriting.

(Leave it inside!)

She ripped open the envelope, revealing a neatly folded letter inside. The envelope slipped through her hand and fell to the floor as she opened the letter.

*My dearest Seraphina,*

*Even though I'm in no place to seek your forgiveness after all the turmoil you went through, but I hope this letter finds you well.

It was never my intention to see you or my dearest Aiden suffer, but I never expected Faye to come between you two. I only wished to see you and my Aiden happy but never thought it would push you both to suffer even more. I am writing to you today so that you could know the truth and the truth shall bring forth peace for you. And once you are in peace, so shall Aiden. Even though I hold you dear, Aiden's happiness is far more crucial to me.*

*Yours Ever,*
