CHAPTER THIRTY FIVE

John lifted his head up slightly and his face became a mix of surprise and shame, he was blushing fiercely, I gulped down my fear and slowly turned my body to face the waiting audience. As they came into view, Grandma was sitting up, watching us with a smug smile on her face, I looked beside me to see Lisa, eyes half closed, she was still groggy from waking up, she must of woke up to the sound of Grandma, I gulped once more, I suddenly felt the need to hide myself, I quickly got up from the floor, saying a quick, "good morning", and make a beeline to the hatch with my head down, walking down the stairs as fast as possble with out hurting my tail bone. My feet carried me to the stables before I could stop them, I climbed up the hay steps and perched myself on top of the roof. I began rubbing my face roughly, hoping to remove the shame that appeared to redden my face, my heart racing, "how will I ever face Grandma again", I sigh to myself, "well, you never will if you don't come down", came Grandma's, pleasant voice from below, I look down the hay stairs to see grandma standing at the bottom with a gentle smile on her slightly wrinkled face, her long, silver hair, braided neatly down her back, it was glistening in the suns glow. I slowly came down to meet Grandma and sat on the bail on the bottom hay bail, Grandma sighed as she sat down beside me. "I was young and willful once to, you know", she said, in an amused tone, "I once found the love of my life too", I looked up at grandma, her Green eyes glistened with memories untold, "was it grandpa", I asked, "yes dear", she said, "it was indeed grandpa". Grandma let out another sigh and stared at the trees in front of us, " I was only thirteen when we met", she smiled, recalling the happy memory, "your grandpa, my Henry, was fourteen at the time", Grandma continued, "I was visiting a town called Bala in Gwynedd, Wales, with my parents, to introduce me to my future fiance', we were strolling down the banks of Llyn Tegid, we stopped to watch some ducks playing and when I looked up, I see a seemingly lonely boy, with his shoulder length black hair tied back", I listen intently as Grandma speaks, "he was standing there, staring out at the water, as if lost, I felt so drawn to him, I slipped away while my parents were still busy with the ducks", Grandma's smile grew at this memory, "I walked right up to him and stood beside him, watching the water, trying to see what he was seeing, I felt his gaze on me suddenly and I looked up to gaze back at him, there was sadness in his hazel green coloured eye's, but he had infected my heart in that moment, I knew he was not someone I could easily forget", Grandma's expression changed, seeming like she was completely infatuated, "his eye softened with our locked gazes, he smiled and asked me who I was, we introduced ourselves and found that we were each others future betroved, we were shocked but his worries seemed to have washed away in that moment of realisation", Grandma shook her head and giggled like a love sick teen, "we become inseparable, almost instantly and we were reprimanded by our parents quite a lot for cuddling and kissing before marriage, but we never listened, we were completely in love", Grandma's eyes darkened with sadness, "we were still so younge when Henry passed away, I wanted to follow him so badly, but I your mum to take care, so I just pushed my shattered heart to the back of my mind and continued to push on with life", my eyes became wet and tears streamed down my face as Grandma recounted the past, she turns and looks at me with sincerety, placing her hand on mine, "when you are here, you can be as free as you like with John", she finished, patting my hand before standing up and walking back to the house. I sat there a little stunned, unsure on my next move, Grandma definitly has a point, I will never be as free with father, not now anyway and there is no telling if he will ever approve, his heart has turned to ice and there is no melting it. I heard footsteps approaching and I turning to see John walking up with a cheery smile on his face, it melts my worries away instantly, "Mrs Woods told me where to find you", he said, joy in his tone, he gently gathered my hands in his, "care for some breakfast my lady", he asks, gazing down at me. I stood with John's aid, he let go of my hands and and brought his arms around me, pulling me in and pecking my forehead, I lifted my head to meet his gaze, "I wish we could be like this forever", I say with out a second thought, his eye lit up at the sound of my words and his smile grew bigger, "I wish for an eternity", he replies and our lips meet once again, a fierce passion enveloping us, seeping deep into our bones, we held each other tighter, as though we were trying to become one person, we claimed each others lips for several moments before finally stopping for to breathe, our foreheads keeping us connected. After we caught our breaths, I opened my eyes to gaze into his, his deep blue eyes swimming with love and adoration, I did not want to leave this spot, my body had that blissful warm feeling that I never like letting go of, I wanted to hold onto it forever. John lifted his hand to caress my face, "in my heart, you are the most beautiful woman in the entire world, I want your heart and soul to be mine forever" John said, pouring his entire essense into his words, before I could respond, we suddenly heard the sound of a carriage approaching, I decided to climb the hay stairs to see who it may be, with John following close behind.
