Nina's point of view
Days had passed and things were still on rocky hills between me and Kayden. I decided I'd just give up on trying to appease him and we would live naturally like that. He would normally relate with me on casual levels, but nothing beyond that. I was getting back to my normal self and I could feel the infatuation towards him reduce in me.
For the following days, he decided he would hold a ball and invite every other delegate and alphas of other packs to join him so as to form better alliances. My role to play? Be the event planner.
Planning the event all by myself wasn't something I could do by myself, I had already gathered a number of people to help decide and work everything out. I was leaving the pack house to go join them at the venue. Even food would be sorted by us.
For someone who didn't want to relate with me on a normal level anymore, I was surprised he would leave such matters cord to take on. The day he approached me, I smiled because of how unexpected it felt and how it seemed like a tease.
He had come to my door in the morning before he would leave as usual.
"Good morning, Nina. Can I speak to you?"
I was just waking up from sleep but seeing him at the door had already kick-started my day by a long stretch.
"Yes, what is it?" I spoke calmly.
"As you know, I'll be holding a ball soon. I'll need you to be the event planner and do things by the side for me. Would you be interested?" He asked me.
"Sure. I would like to help." I took the offer with glee. At first, I was angry at myself for taking it up, but I eventually grew into liking it after I had been able to experience the outside world and activities that separated me from the pack.
As one would expect, I had Jessica's support all through.
I got to the event and everything only needed finishing touches before everything would hold.
All the ladies were present and actively trying to make everything look better even by the tiniest difference. The alpha Kayden, was set to come later in the evening to oversee everything and make final adjustments for himself before the main day. So far so good, everything had been done to a good taste and I doubted he would have anything to complain about.
The day would finally come and there would be so many people to approach and talk to. I thought of how inconveniencing it may feel. I wasn't particularly extroverted and supporting the pack I hated the most was definitely the icing on top to set off a bad look for my patriotic self.
I sighed and went to join Jessica where she was resting.
"Hey, how are you doing? You look very tired." I asked out of concern.
"Aren't we all?" She shrugged.
I laughed at how she was free and easy to converse with and would constantly give witty remarks. We weren't best of friends after the whole kidnapping incident, but she definitely was still friendly enough and that would get me worried over her decline in character. It was unlike her and perhaps might have been the issue that was between her and Kayden.
There was something I never got to discuss with Kayden after the childish fight we had.
"Tomorrow will come and you'll get to meet different and new people. Maybe the man of your dreams too." I teased her.
"I pray I do. " She smiled back.
Just while I was still trying to hold a small talk with her, Kayden appeared. We had not even been alerted by the maids, it was until he entered the hall and everyone was greeting him constantly from left to right.
I stood up and went to meet him when he came in.
"Good day, Alpha."
He looked at me and smiled, maybe a smile of mischief. That was what it was.
"Good day, Luna," he replied.
"How's the progress coming along?" He asked, looking around and taking in the view of the venue for himself.
"I wanted to know if there would be any finishing touches you would want or require. That was why I asked that you be present here." I explained to him.
"Everything seems just fine. I don't think there's anything I need to correct. You guys have made an amazing place look better and invitations have been sent out. You've done well."
I wasn't expecting to be so "praiseful" with his compliments, but he did enough to make me feel happy with myself even when I hated things.
"Well, in that case, that'd be all. I appreciate your opinion on everything." I thanked him.
He left my side and went to interact with the others while they discussed how everything would hold and the bringing in of food too. Everything had been really smooth and should be fulfilled soon enough.
I noticed there was no interaction between him and Jessica. There was no way I'd be able to get her to talk to me about what was going on and I didn't think Kayden was in the mood to have the same conversations.
I went around too and made sure every little thing would be in place just before everyone would leave and all that would be left would be the main day and guest.
A ball, a large one at that didn't seem too fair on the pack with the situation facing the people on my side and I thought about it and possible better options, but my heart was divided and one part, I definitely would like to see the pack in ruins, ok the other, I was beginning to like Kayden and wanted to tell him about his decision.
I wanted to have him come to my room again, but that was a long shot from the present.
