Chapter 77: Kayden's point of view
My mind was occupied with so many activities all at once and there was too much for me to handle. I wanted the ball to be perfect and I wanted to be able to address all the people of power that would be attending.
Luckily, I had Nina who had been assisting consistently with all the activities we had to go through.
I had not heard from Killian in weeks and it was suspicious, but yet calming to know he was plotting and not attacking.
I left the venue for the ball and all I had to do next was to prepare my clothes for the main day since we had sorted everything else out. I was a bit nervous about attendance and how things would turn out. Not all the heads of clans had been on board with the idea, but it was something I felt we had to necessarily run with.
Back at home, I still had Jessica around and that was still a bother for me. I was setting up things in place to get her out of the house and everything seemed to be coming along well enough. I had bought her an apartment and even gone to the extent of getting her a job in the hopes that things would change.
I saw her at the venue for the ball, she was with Nina but I said nothing to her. I couldn't look her in the eye but she paid no attention to me either which felt fair.
As soon as I arrived home, I went to my room. It was one of the first times I would stop at my room and not my office recently. I was getting too occupied with all the issues and worries going on, I barely had time for myself.
I undressed and rested for a bit and just then, someone unexpected came in.
"Jessica?" She had walked right into my room. I thought I had left her at the venue and she was still there with Nina.
"What are you doing here and what's your problem? I thought I warned you against coming to see me?" I shouted at her.
"Really? You want to neglect me at this point. Is it fair to me?"
I was bewildered by her statements. Someone who I had done a lot for was talking that way to me.
"What do you even mean? Do you know how much I have done for you?" I questioned her.
"And do you know how much you've led me on? I thought we both had a thing and here you are trying to get rid of me because you don't want me anymore. After everything we both did together!"
During the times I had been with her, I remembered myself being partially sane, but I doubted if I had done anything with her. I was infuriated.
"What do you mean? We barely did anything together and you know that. What are you saying?"
