Kayden point of view
My head was still on the table when I heard someone knock on the door. The person didn't knock twice before they opened. I had expected Jessica since it was her behaviour the few times she had tried to seduce me, but to my surprise, it was Nina who was there.
She was in a white nightgown and looked stunning. Maybe it was because I had missed her for days, she definitely looked very different to me and I longed for her.
"Hey, not asleep yet?" She said calmly.
"No, just trying to do a little. I'll be done soon." I replied to her.
"Would you like to join me in my bed? Maybe sleep for a while. We've barely acted like couples throughout our marriage."
I was surprised at what I was hearing from her. Truly, it was time we needed all along. She had changed and she was different from before.
"Sure thing, I just need to clean," I reconsidered what I had just said. If I had concluded the sentence, I would be postponing meeting with her till later.
"Let's go," I told her.
"I thought you wanted to clean up?" She smiled.
"That can wait."
We both held hands and walked to her room. The connection was different and I felt better that I had managed to rescue her
When we got to her room, I climbed into her bed and she did the same. She was wrapped in my hands and that was it. The both of us would breathe on each other immediately as we stayed on each other's body.
It was more than I had expected the night to turn out for me. Maybe things will change for the better after now, I thought to myself.
The gods decided to bless us as the weather changed and it seemed like a heavy rain was going to pour soon. The sky had decided to bestow on us, a perfect ambience for things.
The cold was getting in and she pushed herself into my body deeper. My fingers caressed her lips. I wanted to kiss her, the synergy was there and she moved upward from my chest onto my lips. She pressed hers against me and when our tongues went for each other, the thunder outside clapped. I was sure the gods had something to do with the night.
We would kiss each other for a bit and then go back to hugging and cuddling. Nothing could ever feel better than that to me. We drifted off to sleep after a little while of our shenanigans.
The next morning, she was still in my hands and it was as if she had not moved a bit throughout the time we slept.
I pulled her closer and tried to go for a hug. I was glad I woke up to her beside me.
Just a few minutes after I had woken up, she did the same too. When she woke up, she was all smiles.
"Good morning," she greeted in her slightly hoarse voice.
"Good morning, Did you sleep well?"
"I think it was the best night for me." She said.
We continued cuddling and kissing again in the morning until we both finally decided we had to get something to eat otherwise we would both starve on the bed.
Besides, the doctor had demanded that she take vitamins and eat healthily so she could stay alive.
I reminded her about the doctor's warning and we both laughed about it.
At the table, it was obvious we were getting distant from Jessica continuously. The urgency arose in me to quickly get her out of the pack house. She had taken an early leave from the table and excused herself claiming sick.
Nina was worried, but knowing what had happened between us, I was sure she had decided to eat her food elsewhere. It wasn't possible that she would still be able to stand being around us after so much had gone down and I couldn't explain all of that to Nina. She seemed genuinely worried about things, but telling her might just cause a greater drift between everyone and ruin our moment.
We finished eating and I decided I wouldn't dedicate my time to working apart from spending enough time with Nina. I made a mental note to contact the leader of the bear shifters later though, it was an important duty I couldn't take for granted if I still wanted my pack to be standing after some years.
I knew Killian would definitely be brewing something that could be a serious threat.
My mind drifted from that and I watched Rose finish her meal and take her medications before I went to join her.
"Do you want to go back to the room? We could continue from where we left off." I whispered in her ears.
She smiled and nodded. I took her hands and led her to my room this time around.
I turned on the stereo and it began playing some loved songs I had prepared in it a while ago.
The blanket was already there, everything was perfect and enough for a cosy environment between the two of us.
Nina climbed into the bed and I decide the same. Her back was turned towards me and she held on to my hands from the position she was.
The song played and it was all warm and cozy. Soon enough, I fell asleep and was dreaming.
She was in my dreams and we both making out and running after each other at a beach. The kind of thing you would see out of a romantic movie. I felt myself chuckling as we played with each other, but something happened. A tsunami came and took her away in the dream. I struggled to reach for her, but it was all to no avail and I couldn't catch her as the wind and water took her away.
I instantly woke up from the dream and saw her beside me. I held her closer, I wasn't ready to lose her.
