Chapter 72: Kayden's Point of View

I couldn't contain my joy at knowing that I had found Nina. I decided to hold a banquet in the land to celebrate her return and Jessica's. I still had to do something about Jessica. I needed to find a place for her and get her out of the pack house as soon as possible and that was what I was up to.

I had asked my beta to secure a place for her and she would be moved after the banquet had been held for everyone. Till date, I couldn't grasp what she had done and how I had been so susceptible to the things she did to me, so much that we were almost in bed with each other.

Nina was discharged later in the evening and the two of us went back home together. At dinner, a feast had been prepared and everyone got to eat thrice as much as possible.

The starvation from the plenty of days she had no food reflected deeply on her body and her eating manners when she wouldn't stop packing as much as she could. Jessica did the same and I couldn't stop laughing at them. It was definitely cute to see and I was mostly glad they were back.

Who would believe that a day like this would come when I would be so caring about my Luna and someone else? It definitely wasn't something everyone had predicted, not even me.

"So, you told me about a banquet, when do you plan to hold it?" Nina asked.

" It should happen soon. It is simply an idea but I plan on holding it. After all, we've been through so much and I think it's only right we held one."

" True, I'm sure no one argues the idea."

The discussion went on about the procedures and the things that took place while they had been kidnapped. Jessica was mostly left out of the conversation and it was as if she was an outcast. It was something I had done and caused but I couldn't take it back. I wouldn't let her ruin me completely.

I missed the times when things were simply jovial and platonic between us.

My mind went back to the night I had come to my senses again. Maybe I was the one coming into her and she had accepted my gestures, I was feeling guilty for what I had done and was doing, but it was hard to get things to go back to normal.

The meal ended and everyone went to their various rooms, I would have stayed with Nina, but I wasn't sure if things were ready between us to progress yet. We definitely looked at ourselves and felt happy with each other, but that type of relationship that Jessica had almost gotten out of me wasn't what we were offering each other yet.

It was a gap we still struggled to bridge after so many months of being together. I couldn't argue against the fact that I was falling for her already. It was something I no longer argued against myself with.

I went to my office at night as it was my normal routine. Everyone had gone to rest. Even the servants finished early apart from the guards who were on standby and were at the doors too just in case anything happened.

Nina had explained how the men had disappeared from their presence on the day they were kidnapped. I was definitely sure it was the same men who had attacked me. My mind was still heavy from whatever they were brewing against me. It didn't seem like I had enough power against them, but maybe forming alliances to fight against them would be progress enough too.

I had started forging and inviting people to our aid in case we needed them. That was also one of the reasons why the banquet would be held. It would be an opportunity to socialize with everyone and get them to relate with us on a different level. At least, create a different relationship and try to start up things.

If worst came to worst and we had to fight bear shifters, that would be a totally different ballgame.

"Come to think of it, the only known bear shifters stay in the north. So, what could be going on?" I asked myself.

It was something I had failed to click for a while. Like, why would they choose to fight against me or start battles from a distance as such? They wouldn't be able to overtake our land if they tried because they couldn't access it from such a far distance.

Whatever Killian was up to, it was definitely not something that would be obvious and I braced myself to get caught by surprise from him. He was always a master planner from when I was younger and getting him to show me strategies opened my mind for many battles I was able to fight, but fighting against him? A master planner like himself was something else.

"Oh, wait. The bear shifters would fight for him and Killian would be able to take over the reins of power. It won't be too hard if he has everyone under his control through brute force." I thought to myself. It was the easiest option to go with and another question that came up in my mind was what he would be offering the bear shifters and how he had been performing the magics he did with the men.

"Argh, war." I lamented.

Killian had been giving me headaches for days, just then I realised I had given Islidor a job to help me find Killian but he had not reported anything about the progress yet.

I thought about calling to remind him of it, but I remembered the commendable work the recruits had done for me. He was probably on it and I had nothing to worry about.
