Chapter 84 DAMIEN'S BEEN POSSESSED
Chapter 84 DAMIEN'S BEEN POSSESSED
Damien and Evelyn remained in the room. They were unable to get a wink of sleep again. They just kept staring into the wall. Damien made sure to maintain a very good distance from Evelyn.
Even though he knew that the spirit had no power over him now. He just want to have it aybtbe back of his mind.
As the morning brightness peeked through the windows, Damien stirred into action. Evelyn didn't allow him be, she had been waiting for the day to break. She just had her eyes fixed on him the whole time. That was enough to take her sleepiness away.
Damien carefully lifted Kallix's lifeless body, cradling him in his arms. He treated Kallix like a precious Jewel. He had to because Evelyn's Gase was all over them.
"I'll take him back to his room,"
Evelyn nodded, her eyes still red-rimmed from lack of sleep. It was easy to tell that she pebt the night without sleeping and she cried. She followed Damien out of the chamber, her footsteps quiet after Damien.
Damien hadn't expect Evelyn to follow after them. They reached Kallix's room, and Damien gently laid him on the bed.
Amara quickly stood up, "Your Majesty, I've been searching everywhere for Master Kallix! Where was he?" She gasped, seeing the wound on tummy, it was full of blood. "Oh dear heavens, what happened?"
She didn't want to alert the Queen earlier on but since she was here already what else could she do? But the wound on his body. She knew she had failed in her mission. How did the little sneak out under her watch?
She fell to the floor, her head touching the ground. “I deserve to die, Your Majesty. Please forgive me.”
Evelyn didn't look dosn at her, she was in no mood for this. Even if she would be punished, it would be after Kallix has been treated.
"He...had an accident. Please, send for the physician immediately."
The caretaker nodded, hurrying out of the room to fetch the physician.
Damien stood watching a this with his eyes fixed on Kallix's pale face. Evelyn sat beside him, gently stroking his hair. In a matter of how many hours, she had forgotten how to feel some emotions. She just stared at the boy's face which was deprived of color.
How long was it going to take the physicians to get here?
The physician arrived, a wise old man with a gentle touch. Evelyn stood up on seeing the physician. He examined Kallix's wound, his brow furrowed in concentration. "The wound is deep, Your Majesty. I'll need to clean and dress it carefully."
Evelyn sighed inwardly losing her focus. Damien saw this and provided a chair for her. Evelyn sat down grumpily and kept staring at the old physician who was rummaging through his bag.
Then he brought out some leaves. “This will help promote geakung and prevent infection.”
He carefully grinded the leave and then applied Kallix's wound. This kind of leave was supposed to sting when applied to a wound but Kallix didn't even flinch.
As the physician watched, Evelyn watched anxiously. “How long is it going to take for him to heal completely?”
The physician's face twitched with doubt, “I can't really tell. The wound is deep and it depends on the type of body he has. If he has the strong will to leave, he will surely survive this.”
Damien was put in a difficult position with this, had he done a mistake by lunging the sword in? He was only trying to protect both himself and Kallix. By the time the spirit leaves Kallix's body, Kallix will feel some terrible ache in his body having been used up by the spirit.
He felt awkward standing beside Evelyn, wouldn't she place the blame on him?
After what felt like an eternity, the physician finished dressing the wound. "He should recover well, Your Majesty. But he'll need rest and care."
Evelyn nodded, relief washing over her. She knew that Kallix will definitely survive this. If it was based on his will to live, Kallix had lots of dreams. So he definitely would survive this.
"Thank you, Physician. Please, ensure he's well taken care of."
The physician nodded, packing up his bag. "I'll check on him regularly, Your Majesty. For now, let him rest."
As the physician departed, Damien turned to Evelyn. "I'll keep watch over him, Your Majesty. You should rest too."
Evelyn hadn't slept well for quite a long of time. So the best thing to do was to take her bath and then sleep. Since the beast has been dealt with, she should start having a good sleep.
Evelyn smiled weakly, her eyes drifting back to Kallix. "I'll stay with him for a while longer."
Damien could already predict what Evelyn's answer would be, so he didn't argue with her.
They stayed in Kallix's room until the sun hehsj to rise up in the sky. The room was quiet. Evelyn had managed to sleep during that time and was just awake. But they haven't eat yet.
Seraphina only came while Evelyn was sleeping and dropped the food. Evelyn ate that as soon as she woke up.
As Evelyn ate, Damien's eyes narrowed, his senses on high alert. There's something in this room. Someone's presence aside the three of them. There's an eyes watching him, cautiously on him, amalevolent spirit that seemed to be watching them. The ghost beast.
Damien realized that the spirit was back. Back with full energy. He scanned the room with his eyes trying to not alert Evelyn and disturb her while eating. Then he sighted the spirit sitting at the window. He was covered with dried stalk. More like the dried stalk was his cloth. He had a hat on,made with that same dried stalk.
This time, the spirit seemed to be drawn to Damien. He could fell its cold eyes on him, trying to invade his soul. Damien's hand instinctively went to his sword, drawing it from its scabbard.
Evelyn who was eating noticed the weird atmosphere in the room. She lift her gaze then widened her eyes in concern as she saw Damien's tense expression. "What's wrong?" she whispered.
Damien didn't answer, his focus on the spirit. He raised his sword, ready to strike. But the ghost beast was too powerful, and it knocked the sword out of his hand. Damien stumbled back, his eyes locked on the empty space in front of him.
Evelyn's worry turned to fear as she saw Damien struggling with something she couldn't see. "Damien, what's happening?" she cried out, rising from her seat.
Damien's voice was strained. "Run, Evelyn. Get out of here."
But Evelyn didn't move. How could she run and leave both Kallix and him in this room? She didn't even know what she was running from. She stood frozen, her eyes fixed on Damien's face. Damien saw her doubt and curiousity and realized she wouldn't leave him.
How dumb can she be in situations like this? Shouldn't she have figured out that the ghost beast had appeared again?
But why was the beast attacking him this time? The spirit wanted to take over Damien's body and use it for its criminal act.
The spirit took advantage of the chance, having knocked away Damien's sword. It tried to focus it's eyes on Damien's body, wanting to take away Damien's soul then replace it with its.
Damien's eyes widened in horror as he felt himself being consumed.
With a final glance at Evelyn, Damien's body jerked convulsively. The ghost beast had taken hold. Damien's eyes turned cold, and his body stiffened.
As the spirit fully possessed him, Damien's body turned and walked out of the room, leaving Evelyn staring after him in shock and fear. She didn't know what to do, trapped in a nightmare she couldn't wake up from.
Damien's sense was not really consumed, he was able to think and control the body, just in time. He moved around the palace weirdly trying to find a way to escape from where people are.
"Kallix," she whispered, turning to the sleeping boy. "What have we gotten ourselves into?"
But Kallix remained silent, lost in his own world. Evelyn was alone, she was hardly shaken, but she had learnt to keep her calm. What was the next thing for her to do? Where had Damien gone to?
