Chapter 71 THE MYSTERIOUS BEAST

Chapter 71 THE MYSTERIOUS BEAST
Images flashed before her eyes, ones which she couldn't really tell what it was.

She broke out in cold sweat, her heart racing, and she screamed out for help. Her voice was hoarse and raw with pain. And she struggled about in the bed, trying to save herself.

Damien who was just outside the door heard her cry and rushed to the bedroom, his heart pounding in his chest. What made her scream and cry like that?

"Your Highness, wake up!" he called out to her, shaking her gently. "It's just a dream, my lady. You're safe."

He tried to call her back, but it seemed like she was too engrossed in the nightmare. Instead of responding to the calling, she tried to launch an attack. Damien knew she must think this was happening in her dreams.

He tried calling out to her again, but she just kept thrashing about, her eyes closed tight.

Damien's sixth sense kicked in, and his mind told him the only way to help her. But he couldn't bring himself to do that. That would be entirely wrong even though he was just trying to help her. That would be taking advantage of her.

And it wouldn't be good if he gives up without even trying.

He had tried calling out to her, but that hadn't worked. So, he did what his instincts told him to do - he drew her closer to his embrace.

He was reluctant but swift with his movement. He tried to make the contact between their body less.

As soon as their bodies touched, Evelyn stopped moving and she jolted awake, her eyes flying open.

She looked up at Damien, her gaze disoriented, and then she seemed to register where she was and who was holding her.

She took a deep breath, her body trembling, and Damien held her closer, his warmth and strength enveloping her. "Shh, it's okay," he whispered into her ear. "You're safe, Evelyn. I'm here."

Evelyn's breathing slowed, and she leaned into Damien's chest, her body relaxing into his hold. She felt safe, protected, and she knew that she was not alone. Why did she feel so safe in his embrace? This was like never before.

She let out a sigh of relief.

They remained in the same position, wrapped in Damien's arms, Evelyn felt her heart rate return to normal.

She was still shaken, but she knew that she was safe, and was back to life. She was sure she wouldn't be tormented in this world, even anyone try to harm her here, she had Damien to protect her.

She didn't know how long they lay there, but eventually, she stirred, her body relaxing further into Damien's hold. She finally seemed to realize what was going on. She hold back herself breaking the embrace.

"Thank you," she whispered, her voice barely audible. She felt her heart warm up and the same warmth rushed up to her face. She suddenly felt hot all over her body.

Her eyes wandered off to the curtain which was slightly drawn over to the side. Of course she had enough ventilation. So what was wrong with her?

Damien's response was a gentle stroke of her hair, a soothing touch that calmed her further but sent a wave of whirlwind filled with warmth to her heart.

She didn't know how to react to this, she only kept her head down trying to figure out her thought. Why was her heart beating frantically? She was sure her heart beat would he over 60 beat per minute

"You're safe now.”

He noticed the flush on her cheeks and the rapid rise and fall of her chest, and he knew she was still shaken.

"Evelyn," he said gently, his voice low and soothing. "What was your dream about?"

Evelyn's gaze snapped back to his, and she hesitated, her lips parting as if to speak, but no words came out.

Damien saw the hesitation in her eyes, and he was about to tell her not to worry about sharing it if she wasn't ready. But before he could say anything, Evelyn took a deep breath and began to speak.

"It wasn't clear," she said, her voice barely above a whisper, it seemed like she was trying to avoid speaking loud so that no one would hear her, more about the people in the dreams. "But it felt... familiar. I've had this dream different times since the beginning of this week.”

Damien was even more stumped. Since the beginning of this week? That meant she had been having restless night from the beginning of this week.

Damien nodded attempting to get her talking. He was really invested in this dream she's been having.

"In the dream, I felt like I had some kind of power," Evelyn continued, her words spilling out in a rush. "A divine power, maybe. But there was this... monster. This creature that seemed to be waiting for me. And I knew I was supposed to be powerful, but in front of it, I was powerless."

Evelyn's voice trembled, and Damien's fist tightened.

"We would duel," she said, her eyes glazing over as if she was reliving the dream. But she was talking as if she was still in that same dream, now ready to face the said demon. "The monster and I. But I would always lose. And then... it would try to devour me."

She finally said her voice sounding down. Evelyn was not the one to admit defeat easily, but this particular demon in talk seemed to be too powerful.

In her words she said she was a powerful person in the dream, that is she had charm and special abilities, but those wasn't enough to defeat the demon.

With those little details she gave, it became clear that if one want to fight the demon, you must be well prepared and be very powerful fillled with different energy.

Damien's face darkened, his jaw clenched in anger. He didn't like the sound of this at all. How powerful was this demon? How he wished to have this nightmare for once, or he could show his face to him.

He knew that this wasn't just a dream, it was a sign.

Evelyn's gaze dropped, and she shivered, "I don't know what it means," she said, her voice small. "But it feels real. Like it's trying to tell me something."

Damien's expression softened, she felt it also,so it must be telling them something. Though they don't know what it was yet.

"We'll figure it out," he said, his voice full of reassurance. "Together.”

This wasn't something Evelyn could handle alone. She need someone spiritual, someone who possesses the same strong energy as those who resides in Kallix's village.

But why wasn't he having these dreams yet?
