Chapter 68 THE STRANGE NIGHTMARE
Chapter 68 THE STRANGE NIGHTMARE
Damien wrapped his arm around her tightly preventing her from falling.
After a whirlwind of that, Damien released her, coming face to face with each other. They were both about to apologize to each other, but seeing each other faces. They stopped.
Each having a sense of familiarity towards the other.
His curiosity about the lady made hik ask, “have we met before?”
The lady only lifted the corner of her lip, “we haven't, but we are going to have a lot of encouter with each other these days.”
After that, she moved to the other side and walked away.
Damien watched her disappearing figure, he sighed, then turned around to walk back to his house.
After taking few steps, something came to his mind. He halted wanting to stop the lady, but the lady had disappeared. There was no where he could search for her. What if he wasn't correct?
This same scent, this same energy and aura. Which linage is she from?
A week later
The eerie silence in Evelyn's chamber was once again disrupted by Evelyn's gasp and slight movement. Which was more disorganizing than it sounded.
She struggled on the bed as if she was having a nightmare. She clutched the sheet used to cover the bed tightly as if her life depended on that.
Seraphina had been sleeping in Evelyn's chamber for the past three days, as per Evelyn's request. Today was no different.
From the living area, she could hear Evelyn's voice and gasp. She sounded as if she was being suffocated. Seraphina rushed over to her and touched her hand, calling out her name earnestly.
But Evelyn was deeply engrossed in the nightmare. Seraphina called out countless times, before she finally reacted to her calling.
“Hah!” She exclaimed jumping from the bed hurriedly as if something had pushed her off.
“My Queen, are you okay?”
Seraphina was slow to react to this because it caught her off guard.
“I'm not okay, can't you see?” Evelyn growled in pain. What is wrong with me?
For the past few days, she's being having dreams relating to dragons, evil spirit, shaman and all. She couldn't even tell the meaning of one of the dreams.
She was again disturbed while sleeping. Seraphina sat in the bedroom with her watching. She had already turned on the light in the room. So they could see each other's movement now.
Seraphina sat in the room, also in a daze. This was similar to what she felt everyday, as well. Restless nightmares, evil thought and then her waking up with a cranky mood.
All this was new to her. But what was getting weirder was that Evelyn had asked her to start sleeping in her chamber. She was curious and afraid that Evelyn will see what she's been trying to hide.
But then the first night, she realized that they seemed to be going through the same thing. They both had sleepless night and weird dreams.
None of them could tell each other what was going on. They spent the entire night thinking of what the issue was. Evelyn didn't know what was going on with Seraphina. But Seraphina did. But she couldn't share what was going on with her.
Once the realized that another day had begun, Seraphina went to the bathroom to prepare her bath. Then she left for her snall Court as well.
As she stepped out, she saw Damien making his way to the chamber. She greeted then scurried away.
Damien entered the chamber, then stayed in the living area, silently waiting for Evelyn who was oblivious to his presence in her chamber.
Evelyn spent a long time getting ready. So Damien thought she was still sleeping and decided to wait. He didn't know of this untold plague that everyone felt.
It was only when Evelyn's stomach started to grumble that she got to know that she had a visitor waiting for him.
“You should have just called out to me,” she said tiredly.
Damien paused on hearing the tone she used to converse with him. She sounded tired, but she was all dolled up and looked perfectly fine. But thinking back, Evelyn don't dress like this unless she had somewhere to be at.
The makeup said it all, she was stressed again. It seemed like she was trying to hide something behind that makeup.
He didn't pester her.
After Seraphina got dressed in her small court as well, she waited there for the maid to send someone over to come and get the Queen's food. But minutes seemed to turn into an eternity.
No knock came on her door, she growled and made her way to the kitchen. Without stepping inside she knew that they were gossiping. This always happened in the kitchen, but they never forget to serve the Queen her food.
What were they discussing this time? Even if it was something important, she will have to interrupt because she will be the one getting the scolding later on.
Just as she was about to get her kegs moving, an interesting lady interrupted their talks and started a new topic.
Seraphina's attention was caught as well. She halted and listened to the woman.
“These days, I've been having weird dreams. I think I will need to take some time off.”
“What?”
“What?”
“What?”
Many of them answered with what, their eyes fading off as if someone had said something relating to them.
“What's with this what?” The lady asked again seeing their funny reaction. She was only saying what was happening to her, but they seemed to be the one experiencing the horror.
“I'm telling you now that I've been having the same thought. I wanted to tsne a leave.”
Many agreed to this new woman talk again.
“I've been having weird nightmare and the most interesting part is that the next day I don't seem to remember anything again.”
The banter between then continued. Seraphina listened patiently to them, she stood behind the door hearing everything they were saying.
She held the handle of the door tightly and her other fist was curled. What were they saying? She had thought she was the only one experiencing this, but days later she found out the Queen was feeling the same way. Now, not only the two of them but the maids.
What was the assurance that it wasn't the whole palace having this nightmare.
What could have gone wrong?
She tried to calm her storming heart realizing that Evelyn would be waiting for her already.
She regained her composure and walked naturally into the kitchen.
“What's been keeping you all? Gossiping again, right?
They all stopped seeing that Seraphina was there in the kitchen. They dared not utter a word, afraid that Seraphina would scold then for trying to take unnecessary leave.
Those who intendes to speak about the nightmares to Seraphina stopped, having the same thought that she would scold them and say they were slacking off.
Seraphina served the food herself and started going, leaving them to continue with their gossip.
She stride back to Evelyn's chamber with a heavy heart.
