Chapter 66 KALLIX'S FIRST TIME OUTSIDE THE VILLAGE

Chapter 66 KALLIX'S FIRST TIME OUTSIDE THE VILLAGE
The next morning, Damien and the guards rose early, their movements quiet as they prepared to depart. The old woman emerged from her room, her face pale but composed, to bid them farewell.
She spent half of the night preparing Kallix's luggage. Kallix came out from his room fully dressed with Seraphina behind him with a grumpy look on his face.
Ever since they arrived in this village, she hasn't had peace. She felt like a voice was calling out to her, calling her betrayal and crying for revenge. She managed to cover up the dark circles on her face with her makeup.
While playing with Kallix the previous night, she had accidentally slept off. So when she woke up and realized that they were still in the same environment, she made her way out of the room, only to see the room filled with the guards all scattered on the floor.
They all seemed to be having a peaceful night rest. Without even asking, she knew what was going on.
She remained grumpy till the next morning.
"Thank you for staying," her eyes lingered Evelyn's face. "May the road rise up to meet you."
After saying that, she turned to her little boy, who was as vibrant as ever. She bent to his height and cupped his face in her palm.
“Always be good, okay?”
Kallix nodded with eyes shining with brightness. He might not be happy leaving his grandmother in this damn village filled with evil spirit but he knew that it was for the better.
“Grandma, just keep hanging. I will find someone to treat you when I grow up.”
His words brought a smile to the old woman's face. Damien flashed a knowing look towards the woman. Even though the boy appeared knowledgeable, there are some things he's failed to notice.
"Thank you for your hospitality," he said, indicating that it was really time to start going. They've had enough time to bid each other goodbye.
The old woman smiled faintly, her eyes clouding over. "Sure," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Let's go," Evelyn said, her voice crisp like the morning sun. She didn't have so much strength left in her. She woke up with her whole body aching. It made her wonder how the old woman was sleeping.
Damien nodded, turning to follow her out of the house. The guards followed as well.
As they walked away from the house, Damien glanced back, his eyes meeting the old woman's gaze. She stood in the doorway, her face pale but resolute, watching them depart. Damien nodded to her, a small smile on his face, before turning to follow Evelyn and the guards.
As they were sbout leaving the old woman's house, Damien suddenly stumbled, his eyes glazing over as he was hit with a vision. He saw a lady, her face lit up and stunning, standing in a garden surrounded by mist. He didn't recognize her, but there was something about her that seemed familiar.
Without even having a clear picture of the woman in the vision, he could sense the feeling similar to the one he could feel here. So strong.
Damien's eyes snapped back into focus, and he looked around, disoriented. He stared back at the old woman, but the old woman had already turned her back at them.
Kallix rode with Evelyn and Seraphina to the palace. He watched with amusement all through trying to be chatty with Evelyn.
Hours later, they arrived at the palace, the imposing structure of the palace looming above them. Evelyn handed Kallix over to Seraphina.
“Take care of him, get him freshened up and make sure the seamstresses come over and make some clothes in his size.”
Seraphina reluctantly agreed, “Okay, Your Majesty. I will get someone to prepare your bath then.”
Ever since, Seraphina had been the one always preparing Evelyn's bath, but since it seemed like she had another one to take care of, she would need to relieve herself off some work
She wasn't the only one who could do it, she just felt like it was the right thing since she was the handmaid.
As Evelyn made her way to her chambers, Seraphina who was tasked with watching over Kallix. She looked down at the boy, who was bouncing around the room, full of energy.
“The palace is so huge, can I go play over there?” He ran over to the lamp which they always turn on during the night. “What is this? Can I go to the garden. I have never been to a garden, will I get to play with you?”
Kallix asked so mshy questions, but Seraphina was too pissed to come up with a proper one.
"Good grief," Seraphina muttered, wrinkling her nose. "You're lousy."
At the energy in him seemed to due dien at that moment. He felt hurt, he was lousy? Does that mean he was disturbing her? All his life he was used to fending off for someone else.
He remained mute after Seraphina scoldee her coldly. He could right from the beginning sense the coldness and nonchalant attitude of Seraphina towards him. But he wanted to be friends with her.
Seraphina took him back to her small court and scrubbed him clean there. Since he didn't have any other clothes than the one his grandmother packed for him. He changed into that.
After he was fully dressed up, he had this clean look. He looked cute and had a different scent coming from his body.
Seraphina felt more better, she decided to take her bath as well after taking care of the child.
“Stay here, don't play games with me. You are only allowed to play within this confided space.”
Kallix nodded obediently, receiving the affirmation that he wouldn't go anywhere, Seraphina trusted him and went to clean herself up.
But to her surprise, when she returned from the bathroom. She searched every nook and cranny of the small court for the boy, but she couldn't find him.
Her heart ran cold at once, wondering where she would look for the boy from.
She hurriedly wore her slippers and opened the door to ask for help. But just as she opened the door, she saw him sitting at one corner by the door, Playing with his finger.
She got annoyed at once, “you brat,” she picked him up aggressively from the ground. “How dare you make me worry, you think yoir life in the palace would be any better? You better have this mindset that you are an ordinary guard in the palace. This is what you will be trained to become. Not a prince.”
She hissed after that, trying to calm herself.
Just as Evelyn emerged from her bathroom, dressed in fresh clothes and looking refreshed, she called out to Seraphina. "Bring Kallix to me for breakfast," she said.
Seraphina got the message from one of the maid and led Kallix to Evelyn's chamber. The boy had been cheerful the whole time on their way to the palace, but as soon as Evelyn saw him, his face fell, and he looked dull.
Evelyn's eyes narrowed, her expression concerned. "What's wrong, Kallix?" she asked, her voice soft.
But Kallix just shook his head, his eyes downcast. Evelyn's expression turned thoughtful, her eyes lingering on the boy's face.
