Chapter 17 Waiting at the Bus Stop

Hugh saw the shocked look on Nicholas' face through his helmet.

"FUCK!" said Nicholas as he twisted the throttle, and the motorcycle flew out, disappearing into the night with the roar of the engine.

Even though Elsa rejected Hugh's invitation and indirectly rejected Nicholas, he still didn't want to see Elsa receive even the slightest harm.

While Nicholas's motorcycle is speeding, Elsa is still busy at the Polaris Café.

Kayla, the woman who owns the café, has gone to a basketball game. Her basketball player boyfriend will be starting tonight, and she says she'll go back and fuck him good once in the evening as a reward if he wins the game.

Old Jason, the barista, kept her company for a long time, although he usually just sat there playing with his old pipe.

Now that even old Jason had gone home, Elsa was the only one left in the café, but she had no intention of leaving work.

"Cuckoo ......"

"Oh yeah! I'm coming!"

The clock struck ten o'clock. The coffee shop had a visitor; the only customer was Maggie Clark.

Today is Maggie's birthday. Elsa invites Maggie to the café where she wants to make her a special cappuccino to celebrate her birthday and go back to school together.

Elsa placed the coffee and cake on Maggie's table, which surprisingly had a cute unicorn candle.

"Happy birthday, Maggie."

"Thank you, Elsa, for remembering my birthday. I will remember everything you did for me. This has to be the best cappuccino I've ever had! You are truly my angel!" Maggie was excited like a child.

"You're welcome. I love you, little sister. Make a wish now!" Elsa rubbed Maggie's head like a big sister.

Maggie closed her eyes and made a wish, then blew out the candle.

They quickly finished the cake, and Maggie's face was beaming with happiness.

Maggie's family lives in other cities, and she had thought she would have to spend her birthday alone this year, but she didn't realize that Elsa had made her feel the warmth of a loved one.

They finished packing everything, closed the café door, and walked together toward the bus stop.

Along the way, Maggie happily recounted her story to Elsa, and the two chatted animatedly.

"Look, Elsa, that motorcycle is so cool!" Maggie said excitedly, pointing to a motorcycle across the street from the bus stop.

It was Nicholas, sitting on his motorcycle in a dashing pose. He lifted the visor of his helmet and looked at Elsa, who had just walked to the station.

Inside the helmet, Nicholas' eyes were sharp. His bright eyes shined like the stars in the night sky, making it hard to forget after one look.

"It's him! It's the man who drives the Ferrari at night! So handsome!" Even though Nicholas was wearing a helmet at the moment and only showed his eyes, Maggie recognized him.

Elsa likewise looked across the road at Nicholas, her eyes meeting his, her expression no longer friendly.

"Is he waiting for you again?" Maggie looked at Elsa suspiciously.

"No, I don't know him." Elsa shook her head and looked to the side.

Nicholas hadn't been seen for many days since the last time, and Elsa was thankful for that.

She imagined that time would allow Nicholas to gradually forget her, that he would have the grace to let her go, or that he would find another girl as a replacement.

Either way, she was ready to give up on this not-so-normal relationship for good. At least when Nicholas hadn't been around, Elsa had had an easy time of it, like a fish that had escaped from the tank into the sea.

Elsa also imagined that she would focus all her energy on her studies, finish them with honors, and then find a gentleman with whom she could have a normal, open relationship.

Unexpectedly, he shows up once again anyway, dragging her from her sunny ideals back to the cold reality.

She should have known it was impossible to get rid of Nicholas so quickly.

"Elsa, perhaps he wants to say something to you." Maggie's words interrupted Elsa's thoughts.

"I don't need to ignore him. The bus is here. Let's go!" The arrival of the bus saved the awkwardness. Elsa pulled Maggie's hand onto the bus.

Maggie wanted to say something else but sensed that Elsa's mood was off and stopped talking.

The bus started slowly, and the lights inside were dim. The passengers chose to sit in the back row of the bus.

Elsa did not say a word, and Madge, seeing her face cold, dared not speak but only held her hand tenderly as if to comfort her.

The bus had been driving for a few minutes when Maggie felt something was wrong with the lights at the back of the bus and looked at the bus back through the window.

Maggie saw Nicholas' motorcycle following the bus. The bus wasn't going very fast, and Nicholas could easily pass it if he wanted to. But he didn't; he deliberately slowed down to follow the bus slowly.

"He seems to be following us," Maggie whispered in Elsa's ear.

Elsa knew that, of course, and she knew he would not give up so easily since he was here.

Elsa looked to the back of the bus, the black motorcycle like a panther poised to close in on its prey, ready to bear its ferocious fangs at the perfect moment.

And tonight, she was the prey.
