Chapter 16: Thomas Falls in Love with His Therapist

"Are you crazy? She's twenty years older than you! I wonder if your head is full of shit." Hugh looked at Thomas incredulously.

"What’s the big deal? It’s just a few years difference! Age shouldn’t limit love at all. Isn’t it funny how society seems to celebrate a man loving a younger woman but not the other way around?" Thomas was upset that he didn't get his friend's approval.

"Hahaha, I'm happy that you have a sweetheart. We've known each other for over twenty years, and this is the first time I've heard you say you're in love with a woman." Hugh didn't want to spoil the fun.

"Thank you, Hugh. I can't believe I'm falling for her either. She's so charming." Thomas smiled.

"Have you fucked her?" Hugh asked curiously.

"Don't use such rude words, Hugh." Thomas frowned.

"Oh, sorry, have you had sex?" Hugh changed his story.

"NO, YET," Thomas said a little sheepishly.

"Have you hugged?"

"NO, YET"

"Have you touched her breasts? Oh no, have you touched each other's bodies? Even, have you taken her hand?" Hugh continued to ask.

"NO, YET"

"Have you dated?"

"Every time I go to her clinic, it is an appointment." Thomas held his head this stubbornly.

"What the fuck? You say you love her but haven't done anything?" Hugh was disappointed.

"I don't need to do anything you mentioned; I'm just happy with her. We sit face to face and discuss our past, hobbies, aspirations, and future. It's a great time with her." Thomas doesn't care about the desires between a man and a woman. Enjoying spiritual pleasures is more important to him.

"OK, your love is pure, and I respect that. So, is she married? Does she have children?" Hugh continued to ask, curious at this point about Thomas' love.

"I don't know. Why do you always ask me such strange questions? You're acting like an endless pussy right now." Thomas didn't want Hugh to keep asking.

"Oh, my friend, this is your first relationship in over 20 years. As your best friend, of course, I care about you. Tell me, what's her name?"

"Dr. Serena, Serena Belsergin. What do you want?" Thomas's expression became puzzled as he thought: did Hugh want to investigate her?

"Serena Belsergin, a fine name. Did you tell her that you love her? Come on, tell me you did. Come on!"

"YES! I did!"

"Cool! Dude, you're so Cool! You confessed to a woman! I can't believe you did that!" Hugh was excited, more so than if he had confessed himself!

Hugh continued, "How about her? Does she love you?" Hugh's speech slowed to a crawl solemnly asked the last and most important question.

"I... I... I don't know. Maybe love, maybe not. She didn't say." Thomas's voice became disarming, and he was a little lost.

Hugh slapped hard on his forehead, turned away, and stopped talking.

Nicholas had been quietly listening to their conversation. Still gazing at the stars in the sky, he exhaled a puff of smoke and said, "Childish! She doesn’t love you. You’re just one of her many patients.".

"Why would you say that? You don't know her at all."

"Forget her, she's not for you." Nicholas was calm.

"Oppose me? You can fall in love with your chauffeur's daughter. Why can't I fall in love with a psychiatrist?" Thomas rarely argued with Nicolas but decided to defend his love this time.

Nicholas sat up sharply and stared viciously at Thomas, clearly enraged by the term "chauffeur's daughter." "What did you say?"

Although Thomas was taller and more muscular than Nicholas, he was surprised to see the fear that came over him when he saw the look in Nicholas' eyes.

Nicholas grabbed Thomas by the collar and gritted his teeth as if he wanted to tear Thomas apart, "I said, what did you say?"

"I said, you can fall in love with the chauffeur's daughter. Why can't I fall in love with the psychologist? Why?" Thomas was angry, too. But there was a little fear in his anger.

Nicholas slammed his fist into Thomas' face, and Hugh grabbed Nicholas' wrist when the fist was two inches from his face.

"Come on, men. can't you two freaks have normal love?" It took Hugh much effort to separate them. "You're my best friend, and now you're fighting before me. Are you guys crazy?"

Hugh helped Thomas straighten his clothes and continued, "There are so many girls who love you both, and you've fallen in love with the most unbelievable person. God! I would love to take both of your brains out and study them."

At that moment, Hugh's phone rang with the sound of a received message, and he opened the message. Nicholas put on his helmet and started his motorcycle.

"Nicholas, where are you going?"

"The Wild Wind Bar."

Hugh grabbed Nicholas by the hand, "Not today. We have more important matters to solve."

"What is it?"

"There's a psychopathic rapist over on Ninth Street. It's near the bus stop that Elsa goes through to get off work."

"FUCK!"

They all know Murphy's Law, "The more you worry about something, the more likely it is to happen ......"
