Chapter 84 Slapping Grace in the Face

Chapter 84 Slapping Grace in the Face

Perfect timing!

Grace immediately stopped her livestream and got up to walk over.

Her assistant nearby nearly jumped: "Hey, Ms. Miller..."

They were in the middle of a livestream - they couldn't just pause it!

The company had finally helped get everything set up properly, and now what was this woman up to?

Grace swayed her slender waist, looking particularly graceful: "Ladies, I just ran into someone I know. Let's go say hello!"

The camera followed her closely, pointing straight at Emily without any hesitation.

Emily's expression instantly turned cold.

She instinctively turned around, holding Eleanor in her arms to shield her face: "Grace, have some self-respect!"

She didn't want her daughter exposed to the public, and even less did she want Grace using her child to make a scene.

"Miss Johnson, what a coincidence running into you shopping!" Grace acted as if she hadn't heard anything, walking right up and speaking with fake familiarity.

But before the livestream viewers could react, she lowered her eyes looking hurt: "I'm really sorry about yesterday. I said the wrong things. Miss Johnson, please don't take it to heart. Can I apologize to you?"

Her deliberately humble attitude pushed Emily right into the spotlight.

The camera swung over, and the livestream comments went crazy again!

"Wow, so that's Emily. She's actually pretty good-looking."

"But wasn't she involved in that scandal two years ago? Why doesn't she know when to back off?"

"My girl is so gracious, actually apologizing to her. I couldn't stand it!"

"Look at her holding that kid with such a mean face. Some people never change - trying to twist the truth again."

Everyone had something to say.

As for those scandal posts from two years ago, they'd been handled by Grace's company back when she first got a bit famous.

Plus Grace's studio had released press statements, deliberately guiding the narrative.

Now, most people believed Emily was the homewrecker who came between her and Alex.

Grace watched the comments, secretly pleased: "Miss Johnson, I know you're still angry. But I really didn't mean to bring up what happened back then. Please forgive me..."

Emily held her daughter, her eyes cold: "Move."

"I just want to apologize. How can you be so heartless..." Grace's tears fell.

She was about to continue when Matthew blocked her.

The man warned: "Miss Miller, that's enough. As for what really happened back then, the Baker family and the Johnson family already issued a joint statement. Anyone who doesn't know can go look it up. And you got plastic surgery to look like someone else - have you told your fans about that?"

Boom!

The entire livestream exploded.

It had only had a few tens of thousands of viewers, but now it shot up to over a hundred thousand.

And it was still climbing!

Grace's expression changed slightly. Looking closer, even the corners of her eyes and jaw were twitching slightly.

It was uncontrollable muscle spasms.

Grace's fingers gripped her skirt, her nails nearly digging into the fabric.

She never expected Matthew would publicly tear away her plastic surgery cover!

She'd wanted to be subtle about it, find the right moment to address it.

But the livestream comments immediately exploded.

The public opinion that had been favoring Grace completely reversed.

"Damn... she does look kind of fake."

"Wait, doesn't she look a bit like Miss Johnson? Looking at them together, they look more and more alike!"

"Comparing them is wild. Grace is like a cheap knockoff, right? You can't fake that high-society lady vibe."

"No wonder I always thought the host's face looked weird. Turns out she had so much work done, and she still doesn't look as good as the original."

Grace's eyes quickly swept across the screen.

Watching the rapidly scrolling comments, her cheeks burned with pain, and she could barely maintain her smile.

"I... this is just growing into my looks..."

"Matthew, let's go." Emily didn't bother looking again, holding Eleanor as she turned to leave.

How could Grace be satisfied? She tried to follow with the camera.

But Matthew stepped sideways to shield the mother and daughter: "Miss Miller, even livestreaming should have limits. Since you're here for a brand event, shouldn't you be professional?"

The man's usually gentle eyes now seemed frozen like ice.

Grace watched them leave, unable to maintain her gentle facade any longer.

She suddenly raised her hand and swatted away the camera, screaming hysterically: "Turn it off! Turn it all off!"

The assistants were too scared to make a sound, fumbling to shut down the livestream equipment.

The large counter area suddenly fell into dead silence.

Meanwhile.

Emily held her daughter and went to the upper floors of the mall.

She looked down, pinching her daughter's soft cheeks: "Eleanor, shall we go pick out some formula?"

Eleanor obediently replied sweetly: "Okay~ I want strawberry flavor!"

Matthew followed behind carrying things, adding with a smile: "Strawberry flavor is for yogurt. We need to pick something else for formula, or our little princess will go hungry."

This made Eleanor laugh.

The high-end baby stores up ahead were global chains with guaranteed quality.

Most importantly, Eleanor had been used to them since she was little in Paris.

Emily was about to go in when her eyes accidentally caught the window next door.

The brand logo displayed there looked very familiar.

It was a top French nutrition line.

Margaret loved this brand's supplements.

"Matthew, can you watch Eleanor for me? I'm going next door to buy something."

Emily handed her daughter to Matthew and turned to go.

But she'd barely picked out a few items when a respectful yet excited voice came from behind: "Mrs. Baker! You... you're here too!"

Suddenly, Emily froze.

She hadn't heard that title in a long time.

She slowly turned around to see Susan standing not far away, holding shopping bags.

Emily smiled: "Susan, are you here buying things for Grandma?"

Susan hurried over: "Yes, yes. The old lady threw quite a fit when she got home yesterday. Even Mr. Baker got kicked out of the old house. You..."

Before she could finish, Emily interrupted with a smile: "I'm no longer the Baker family's daughter-in-law. Please just call me Emily. Why was Grandma angry yesterday?"

Susan shook her head helplessly: "Sigh, ever since you left, the old lady has been different with Mr. Baker. You know, she's always wanted you two to get back together, but..."

Emily looked down: "There's no need. These are nutritional supplements I picked for Grandma. Can you take them back for me?"

Susan agreed repeatedly.

Little did she know these few boxes of supplements would nearly cause trouble.

As Emily was about to head back, something felt off.

Did she feel like someone was secretly taking photos?

But it wasn't quite clear.

Emily didn't think much of it and went to check out with Eleanor.

At the same time.

Top floor of Baker Corporation.

Smack.

"Take a look, Mr. Baker. You're still being stubborn here, but little Emily has long since moved on to a wonderful life with Matthew!"
