Chapter 15
Felix felt a wave of happiness as he settled into his luxurious penthouse and noticed a message from Selina on his phone. "Can't stop thinking about dinner tonight. Thank you for the phone," and included a heart emoji.
Felix smiled as he read the message, his lips twitching with possessive pride. But his mood fell the moment he noticed a notification from the tracking app he had installed on Selina's phone. Felix felt sick to his stomach when he accessed the app and saw that Selina was speaking with Simon on the phone.
His jaw clenched with anger as he watched the screen, his mind spinning with jealousy and resentment. "Why is she talking to him?" he muttered to himself, his hands trembling with fury as he watched the call continue.
As the call ended, Felix's mind raced with thoughts of betrayal and deceit. "She's supposed to be mine," he growled, his voice laced with venom as he clenched his fists in frustration. "No one else should have her attention."
In that moment, a dark and sinister plan began to form in Felix's mind. He knew that he couldn't let Selina slip away from him, not now that he had her within his grasp. With a determined glint in his eyes, Felix vowed to do whatever it took to keep Selina by his side, even if it meant imprisoning her in his world forever.
After the call with Simon, Selina decoded to shower. She had been confused with her friend's attitude and why he just left like that so she had to call and confirm.
During their call, Simon didn't want to tell her the truth, being scared of what the king of the underworld might do, so he only assured her that it was nothing personal, that he had to be somewhere else at that time and it was an urgent matter.
Luckily, Selina bought it and everything was alright. She decided to shower and relax, preparing for the next day already. Selina made sure everywhere was locked before she went to bed.
As Selina jolted awake to the sound of someone tampering with her door lock, fear gripped her heart, sending shivers down her spine. With trembling hands, she reached for her phone and dialed the emergency number, her voice shaky as she called to report the break-in to the police.
Luckily, someone answered. "Please, you have to hurry," she pleaded, her voice barely above a whisper as she relayed her address to the dispatcher. "I think someone's trying to break into my home."
As she waited anxiously for help to arrive, Selina carefully went close to the door, her heart pounding with each step. To her horror, she discovered that the lock had indeed been tampered with, confirming her worst fears.
When the police arrived, Selina's hands trembled as she retold the terrifying story. "I heard someone trying to break in," she explained, her voice trembling with fear. "But by the time I called the police, they were gone."
The officers examined the door carefully, their brows furrowed in concentration as they searched for clues. "Looks like the intruder wiped their fingerprints clean," one of them remarked confusedly, his tone tinged with frustration.
Selina's stomach turned with unease as she realized how big the situation is. "What if they come back?" she asked, her voice filled with fear.
The officer reassured her with a gentle smile. "Don't worry, Miss Nash," he said soothingly. "We'll do everything we can to keep you safe. In the meantime, we'll review the surveillance footage and see if we can identify the intruder."
As Selina watched the officers depart, a sense of dread settled over her like a heavy blanket. She couldn't shake the feeling that she was being watched, that danger lurked just beyond the shadows. And as she waited for answers, she knew that her life would never be the same again.
The officers positioned people to stay at various places for 2hours straight and confirm if the intruder will come back while the rest headed back to the station to check the surveillance camera footage.
Selina couldn't sleep a wink that night. She feared if she closed her eyes, everything will shatter and the intruder will be able to attack her.
Early in the morning, Selina got a notification to enter school and submit some internship files. So she prepared to stop by school, submit it, see her friend Amara and then head back to the office.
With her head spinning after the previous night's events, Selina went to find her trusted friend, Amara, as soon as she arrived at the school. She spoke, her voice shaking from the previous night's trauma, "Amara, you won't believe what happened last night."
As she heard Selina's story of the break-in, Amara's eyes grew wide with worry, her heart reaching out to her friend. Her voice was filled with sorrow as she said, "Oh my goodness, Selina, that's terrifying. I'm so glad you're okay."
Just then, Martin, Selina's university senior and current colleague, appeared unexpectedly, his expression filled with genuine concern. "Selina, are you alright?" he asked, his voice laced with worry as he approached her.
Selina forced a smile, grateful for Martin's concern. "I'm okay, Martin, thank you," she replied, her voice confused on why he would ask. But Martin's gaze fell on the wound on her finger, and Selina looked down to check what he was looking at.
"Did you get this injury last night?" Martin asked, his brow furrowed with concern as he reached out to gently touch the wound.
Selina's mind raced with memories of the previous night's events, her suspicions growing stronger with each passing moment. Could Martin be connected to her stalker? Was he somehow involved in the break-in? How did he know about the break-in?
"I... I'm not sure," Selina replied hesitantly, her voice barely above a whisper as she met Martin's gaze. "It's all a bit of a blur."
As Martin's concerned expression turned to one of confusion, Selina couldn't shake the feeling of unease that settled over her like a dark cloud. Something wasn't right, and she was determined to get to the bottom of it, no matter what.
