Epilogue

Third Person POV.

Nine months later...

Alpha Jaxon stomped into the delivery room, eyes frantically searching for his mate. His eyes fell on his mate, writhing on the bed, grunting in pain as Astra soothed her. The doctors and two traditional healers stilled, their wolves recognizing their alpha.

"You shouldn't be here alpha,” one of the doctors explained, swallowing thickly when the alpha growled.

"My love," he called his mate, pushing the doctor out of the way.

"J-jax,” Scarlett moaned, a scream of agony passing through her parted mouth when another contraction hit.

"Babe I'm so sorry I wasn't here sooner." He knelt beside her on the bed, taking her hand into his. Jaxon had been at his other pack, alpha Silas's former pack. After killing Silas, he had automatically become the alpha. Because of so much work however, he had appointed Jasper to lead the pack. His was to just go check on things once in a while. He had been there when Scarlett's labor pains started.

"It's so painful," Scarlett wheezed, elevating her back slightly from the birthing rubber ball while she curled her toes.

"Alpha we need to check up on her,” the doctor insisted, the others cowering away from their alpha. He was a ticking bomb, especially with his mate in pain and his pup on the way.

"Shut up!" he hissed back at the doctor, then placed his hands on Scarlett's full stomach.

"You can do it, baby, I will be with you every step of the way,” he soothed, rubbing her lower pelvis where the pain was the worst.

"With all due respect alpha, we cannot do our work with you around." Astra finally stood, putting on a serious yet caring face.

"I am not leaving." Alpha Jaxon stood up, facing Astra from the opposite side of the bed. They stared at each other, with Jaxon clenching his fists while Astra's nostrils flared.

"Aaaah!" Scarlett screamed, breaking the stare-down between the warlock and her mate. The contractions became stronger within minutes and closer apart, making it hard for Scarlett to be coherent. She could feel nausea crawling, while her vision blurred altogether. Scarlett's claws began to extend, as she held on Jaxon's wrist, breaking his skin.

"Remember what we talked about Luna? I need to check the dilation progress, alright?" Dr. Spencer proceeded by moving forward, hands covered with sterile white gloves for vaginal examination. Scarlett spread her legs, bit her lower lip as the doctor lifted her gown to perform a He however stopped in his tracks, trembling in his skin when the alpha let out a warning growl.

"Do you want to lose your mate and the pup?" Astra had had enough of his protectiveness. She wasn't ready to deal with his animalistic behavior at an extremely crucial time like that. The alpha knew what was about to happen; after all the doctor had previously explained during one of the pregnancy visits.

"You are obstructing them from doing their work." Astra pointed at the doctors and traditional healers.

"Get over it and calm your wolf down. If you don't, they will die." Astra gave him a once over and then turned her attention to Scarlett who was blinded by pain.

The contractions weren't giving her any time to breathe. Her throat had dried up, her legs could no longer move, her senses were overridden by the labor pains.

"Good decision." Astra nodded to the alpha when he allowed the doctors to work. Astra had managed to talk sense into him.

"I can see the head...remember what we said?" They all huddled around her, whispering words of encouragement. Scarlett could only nod, with sweat trickling down the sides of her cheeks.

"Baby you can do this." Jaxon smoothened her hair, his touch bringing a little relief to the Luna.

"When I say one, you push, okay?" Dr. Spencer was satisfied with her response. He waited as the contraction hit and proceeded with his instructions.

"Astra, I need you lift her shoulders up slightly as she's pushing okay? Luna, try to close your eyes and your mouth as you push so that all the energy goes down to assist with aiding the baby out." Scarlett heard the instructions from her afar. But she did it anyway. It didn't take long before the cry of a newborn pup was heard in the room.

The alpha was beside himself as he held his baby, his heir, his son. He couldn't take his eyes off his perfect little face, with little everything. But it was the eyes of the pup that had him smiling, green like the ones of his mate, yet with blue freckles. He decided there and then that he needed more pups, just to relive the feeling of welcoming one over and over again.

Three years later "Jax you need to come home right now." Scarlett's voice, full of panic, invaded Jaxon's mind. He was currently in his office, presiding over a meeting with his head warriors.

"Baby the meeting isn't over yet,” Jax tried reasoning but Scarlett wasn't having it.

"Draven just stopped a knife from stabbing my leg with just a single word,” Scarlett said, looking at her son who was busy assembling building blocks.

"What!" The alpha was out of his office without uttering any word to the warriors. When he arrived, Astra was already there, trying to calm down a panicky Scarlett.

"What happened?" Jax picked up his son from the mat, as he inspected for any injuries.

"He was playing while I was cutting melon to blend it for him. I got distracted when he put one of the blocks in his mouth. I forgot I was holding a knife and just let go. By the time I came back to my senses, Draven had already spit it out and mumbled a word that I didn't even understand. The next thing a bow-shaped barrier appeared right above my leg, making the knife bounce off, then fall on the floor."

As Scarlett narrated, Jax couldn't stop his heart from racing. He was excited and scared at the same time. "When the knife bounced off he giggled, then went back to his blocks, then the barrier was gone.”

"How can he perform such at such a young age. He's three years for goodness sake,” Jax mumbled, smiling at his son.

"That's not all babe...his eyes." Scarlett paused, only continuing when Astra nodded at her.

"They glowed a mixture of green and...red,” she hesitated to say the last word. She knew deep down that the red was associated with her dead mother.

"So you did absorb some of her power," Astra whispered, eyes fixed on her grandson.

"What are you saying, Mom?" Scarlett had since referred to Astra as her mother. Their bond had only grown stronger since they discovered they were related. Scarlett was the daughter Astra never had and Astra was the mother Scarlett always wanted.

"I'm saying when your green roots swallowed the red tendrils, some of that magic might have been absorbed by your embryo back then. Remember you were pregnant, you just didn't know it." It seemed to make some sense to all of them. It was the only explanation they could come up with.

"So you're saying that my son might have magic from two powerful warlocks flowing in his veins?" Jax asked, tickling his son.

"Yes. Draven here is clearly powerful than his mother,” Astra explained.

"He will be one heck of a leader, I can feel it,” Scarlett replied, stepping closer to her husband as the three huddled into a family hug.

They were ready to see what the future held together, because to them...their journey as mates had just begun.

The End.
