Chapter 80
Scarlett.
The mood changed as we approached the last cell. The same one they locked me in when Thiery and Jasper found me.
"I'm sorry I put you through that," Jax started when my steps began to falter.
"I forgave that baby... It's just that I'm not sure I want to see her. This..." I gestured at my shaky legs and rapidly rising and falling chest. "It's because of her,” I concluded.
"I am here; I will always be here. So go in there and give her a piece of your mind before she's taken for sentencing. When you can't take it, think about my cum dripping between your thighs." I swallowed thickly, closed my eyes, and took a deep, calming breath. As Jax opened the cell door for me, my mother snapped her face towards the door. She looked frail, her eyes sunken with dark circles under them. She reeked of urine and damp moisture, just like the cell.
Jax motioned for me to enter, but I insisted that he accompany me. I didn't know what I was capable of now that even my finger tips began to burn. She maintained eye contact with me without faltering, then let out a weak laugh.
"I thought you were dead," she uttered then paused, tilting her head slightly to look at Jax. Her mockery alone and the sound of her voice had bile rising up my throat.
"Until I heard you screaming like a maniac," she finished, turning her sight on me. I knew she was talking about my moans in the corridor minutes ago. The memory briefly calmed my beating heart but I wasn't going to discuss my sex life with her, so I ignored her statement.
"Your plan didn't work. As you can see, I'm very much alive,” I responded, clicking at the end. She disgusted me; the words that came out of her mouth were just pieces of trash.
"My bad." She shrugged without a care in the world, while my brows furrowed. A part of me thought that she would be more apologetic. It seemed I was wrong; looking at her laugh when she knew she was awaiting sentencing had me gagging.
I wondered how she was capable of acting as if she hadn't been the worst thing that ever happened to my life.
"You disgust me,” I spat, stepping closer to Jax when my wolf let out another growl. He responded by snaking his arm around my shoulders, pulling me closer to him. The last thing I needed was to allow my hatred for her consume me. I wouldn't live peacefully knowing I had killed my own mother despite what she had done to me.
"Did my mother say anything?" Jax asked out of the blues, his arm around my waist tightening. I could feel his mood change as he brought up his mother in front of the person who took her away from him. It was taking him such immense control to reign in his murderous feelings. His wolf was close to the surface, pushing to rip her apart.
"Who? Your pathetic mother?" my mother mocked, rolling her eyes. Jax's hand was around her throat in an instant, pulling her to her feet as she attempted to free herself.
"Jax, the elders will not like it if you take justice into your own hands before the sentencing." I walked to him and placed my hand on his back to calm him and his wolf. The pack had rules, and as leaders we had to set an example by upholding them. After a few seconds, Jax let go, leaving her with sputtering coughs and wheezing.
"She had something you will never have... even in her grave, she still has it... love, true and genuine love." Jax gritted his teeth as he stated.
"Shut up!" she shouted, covering her ears. Love was a sensitive topic for her, and it was evident.
"Why would he when he's just being truthful?" I chimed in, letting sarcasm drip in my tone.
"I should have gotten rid of you when I had a chance," she spat yet again, coughing in between words.
I raised my left eyebrow and crossed my arms across my chest. "You ruined everything for me!" she screamed at me.
"First, I had to pretend to be a farm worker in a pack like a slave so as not to blow my cover. In return, Silas would take you as his mate, and after killing his own, we'd rule the werewolf community. But you fucking escaped like a coward because of a minor misunderstanding."
I took a step back, uncrossing my arms in the process as every single hair on my body stood. "A minor misunderstanding?" I whispered in disbelief, zeroing in on her nonchalant form as she held her throat where Jax's hand had been. He growled beside me, the sound reverberating in the entire cell.
"Silas forced himself on me, took my virginity away, and impregnated me, and you call that a minor misunderstanding?" My tongue was on fire as I let the steam out. I couldn't believe her—a grown woman who was supposed to be my mother.
"Yes. I call it as it is,” she responded defiantly. My legs couldn't stay still on the ground. I covered the small distance between us at a speed even I couldn't apprehend.
"You are a disgrace to women, a piece of shit that doesn't deserve to live,” I thundered, getting approval from my mate via the mind-link. He could feel my ire for the woman spreading like wildfire.
"I would have loved to finish you off right now." I paused, taking a deep breath to reign in my thirst for revenge. I had no ounce of love or pity for a woman who didn't care.
"But the elders—"
"The elders have already arrived at a decision," the former alpha cut me off as he entered the cell, followed by Astra and the rest of the elders.
"I knew you would come." Her voice changed completely to a soft one as she addressed my mate's father. Her eyes lit up as she raked her eyes from his toes to his face and back again.
"She is one sick woman,” Mr. Weller spoke, adjusting his glasses.
"Sick isn't the word I'd use in this case, more like crazed,” the former Beta chimed in.
"I missed you. I knew trying to kill your son would make you feel something for me, even if it was hatred. Goddess, I love the way you're looking at me right now. All that anger in your eyes is making my heart swell with joy." She closed her eyes and smiled, tilting her head slightly.
"Losing her magic didn't affect her feelings or thoughts,” Astra spoke, sending a nod my way. I couldn't believe it—her behavior was just weird.
"I killed her so we could be together...you know, just you and me." She briefly glared at my mate before turning her attention back to the former alpha.
"What we had was a useless fling. I told you not to fall in love with me, but you still did. Then you murdered my mate...you ripped her away from me with hired rogues. You fucking heartless bitch!" It all happened so fast that a sharp scream filled the cell as we stood unflinching.
The former alpha had clawed at my mother's stomach, and I didn't even feel a thing for her except hatred. She deserved to die painfully for everything she had done.
"I will claw your damn skin out, piece by piece. Then I will cut deep cuts, smiling all the way as you bleed out. I will pierce your eyes slowly, taking my time. I will do much worse than what you did to my mate,” the older man sneered at my mother.
"I hope you burn in hell." That was the last thing I said to her before I left the cell. Her screams could be heard as we left, with Jax promising a nice fuck. I had no business staying there to watch her as she died, she was nobody to me and I intended to keep it that way even in death. To me, she wasn't worth wasting my time on.
"I love how strong you are,” Jax praised.
"You turn me on when you have that don't care attitude,” he added, making me chuckle as if my mother wasn't being murdered.
"And you just got me horny too," I responded.
"Oh, by the way, Silas and Thiery are next. The elders decided to deal with them all and give us space to spend time together after the whole ordeal."
"You sure you don't want to kill them yourself?" I knew he was thirsty for their blood.
"I already cut Silas's dick and forced him to eat it raw." He shrugged.
"You what?" I tried to picture the whole scene, remembering the way he had ripped Cane's dick in front of everyone.
"He forced himself on you, of course he had it coming. And Thiery, he doesn't have a tongue so...I'm done with them, the elders can handle the killing part."
"Glad they realized how bad I need to get laid over and over again. I just want us to be together without thinking about anyone else,” I responded, releasing a heavy sigh.
"What do you say we go make a baby right now?” he said it playfully, but I knew he was serious.
"Actually—" Before I could respond, he stilled for a few seconds, then swept me off my feet abruptly, twirling me around outside the dungeons.
"The doctor just mind-linked me. He did some tests on you while you were in a temporal comma. That is why I'm not even engrossed in murdering Silas and Thiery...something more important needs my attention."
"Well, I don't see why that's making you twirl me... not that I don't love it," I added, holding tightly on to his neck as my heels dug into his muscular back. He stared at me with so much emotion; his eyes became teary, and for a moment I got scared until he spoke.
"You are pregnant, Scarlett. We are having a baby."
