Chapter 157 The Blood of an Alpha
Chapter 157 The Blood of an Alpha
Cassen dropped to his knees on the cold wooden floor, holding Baby Leon with one muscular arm while reaching out with his other hand to wipe the tears from Sera’s cheeks. The usually cold, terrifying glare of the Black Wolf Alpha softened, cloaked in a warmth no one had ever seen before.
"Sera, listen to me," Cassen said, his voice low yet trembling with emotion. "I know everything now. This child... Leon is my own flesh and blood. We don't have to hide or run anymore."
Sera slowly looked up, catching her raspy breath while clutching her tight, aching chest. "What do you mean, Cassen?"
"Let’s start over," Cassen pleaded, staring deep into Sera’s eyes. "Leave that dark past behind. Come with me to the Black Wolf Pack. We'll raise our child together. I'll make you my mate, and we’ll build a complete, new family for Leon."
Sera froze for a second, staring at the man before her with a surge of disbelief. Instead of softening, her features hardened. A fire of fury and rejection flared brightly in her bloodshot eyes.
Sera shook her head firmly, pulling her body back from Cassen's touch. "No, Cassen! I will never agree to that!"
Cassen furrowed his brow, stunned by her swift, cold response. "Why, Sera?! I am your baby's biological father! I can offer you protection and a far better life than this dump!"
"Because I never asked for it!" Sera shrieked raspily, pointing straight at Cassen’s chest. "Don't you ever think that just because this baby carries your blood, we can suddenly be a family! It's way too late for that!"
"I can fix this, Sera!" Cassen barked, his voice rising as he fought his annoyance. "I can avenge you against Maya! I can tear down anyone who ever hurt you in that cave! Why are you rejecting me?!"
"Because I belong to someone else!" Sera cut in sharply, her voice echoing resolutely through the room.
A sudden silence crept over them. Cassen froze in place, his eyes narrowing dangerously. "What... what did you say?"
"I am Rolex's mate," Sera whispered, putting cold emphasis on every single word. "My soul and heart belong only to Alpha Rolex. My past with you was a tragedy forced by circumstances and Maya's evil deeds!"
"Rolex?!" Cassen growled, a dark aura radiating from his body at the mention of his sworn enemy's name. "That weakling who couldn't even find you for three years?! The man who let you rot in a cave?! He's the one you choose?!"
"Rolex never knew the truth because of Maya's silver magic!" Sera defended without a shred of hesitation. "But by fate and the natural law of the clan, I am Rolex's official mate. And you will never be able to change that!"
Cassen clenched his fists tight until his knuckles turned white. "What about Leon?! This child is a descendant of the Morenos! He carries the blood of the Black Wolf Alpha!"
Sera let out a faint smile filled with a mother's fierce determination. "Leon will never be a Moreno."
"What right do you have to say that?!" Cassen roared in fury.
"My right as his mother!" Sera asserted, stepping forward to close the distance. "Leon will be raised under the Borne Clan name! He will be the legitimate successor of the Borne Clan, not your rogue pack! I was the one who gave birth to him, and I am the one who decides his future!"
"No way!" Cassen shouted frantically. He surged to his feet, clutching Baby Leon tightly against his chest while roughly grabbing Sera’s shoulder. "This child is mine! You and Leon are coming with me tonight, whether you like it or not!"
"Let go of me, Cassen! Let go!" Sera screamed hysterically, thrashing and pounding against the man’s broad chest. "Don't force me! Give me back my baby!"
Hary, who had just recovered from the shockwave of aura, tried to crawl up. "Cassen! Let Sera go!"
"Shut up, you little insect!" Cassen snapped, throwing his hand out to trigger a wind force that pinned Hary back against the wall. "Sera, you don't have a choice! You come with me now or"
Wail... wail... wail...
Suddenly, the blare of loud sirens split the night from outside the house. Red and blue strobe lights flashed through the gaps of the windows, illuminating the dimly lit room.
The sound of heavy, coordinated footsteps surrounded the entire structure.
Crash!
The front and back doors were kicked down simultaneously, shattering into pieces. Dozens of special clan police officers equipped with wolf energy-suppressing weapons stormed inside, aiming their gun barrels and silver spears straight at Cassen.
"DON'T MOVE! GET YOUR HANDS UP RIGHT NOW!" the clan police commander bellowed through a megaphone.
Cassen gasped in shock. His eyes widened, taking in the rows of officers filling every corner of the room.
"The police...?" Cassen whispered in disbelief.
"Alpha Cassen Moreno!" the police commander declared firmly, stepping forward with silver handcuffs in his hand. "You are under arrest for escaping the underground dungeon, committing kidnapping, and posing a threat to public safety!"
"Damn you!" Cassen growled, his eyes glowing red with pure Alpha rage. "You think these toy weapons can hold me back?!"
"Cassen, surrender!" Sera shrieked, snatching Baby Leon from Cassen's grip, which had loosened from shock. Sera immediately clutched her baby tight, taking several steps back toward the police line. "You've lost! Don't make this situation any worse!"
Cassen stared at Sera, his face filled with sheer disappointment and betrayal. "Sera... you called them?!"
"Your place is behind bars to answer for all your crimes!" Sera shot back, stroking the forehead of Leon, who had started crying softly from the noise.
"Fire if he resists!" the police commander ordered.
Several officers fired high-voltage electrical cable nets specifically made to suppress wolf auras. Zzzzt! The silver net clamped around Cassen’s muscular frame, locking his muscle movement and halting his wolf transformation instantly.
"Arghhh!" Cassen growled, dropping onto one knee as he fought the numbing effect of the silver spreading through his bloodstream.
Two burly officers immediately pinned Cassen’s arms behind his back, slapping high-grade silver handcuffs onto his wrists.
"Take him to the main transport vehicle!" the officer commanded firmly.
Cassen looked up as he was dragged out of the house. His red eyes glared sharply at Sera, who stood behind the protection of the police force.
"Sera! This isn't over!" Cassen shouted raspily, his voice laced with suppressed vengeance and desperation as he was dragged through the doorway. "You and that child... are mine!"
Sera stood in complete silence, watching Cassen's back disappear into the dark night and the flashing police lights. She held Baby Leon closer to her chest, listening to her baby’s heartbeat gradually calm down. The storm of Cassen's escape and threats had finally ended, but the real battle to restore justice and reclaim her life had only just begun.
