Chapter 156 Bloodline Revealed
Chapter 156 Bloodline Revealed
At Mr. Hary’s House
Meanwhile, Sera's sobs shattered the silence of the small room in Hary's house. Her body trembled violently on the cold floor, tears streaming down her deathly pale face. Her fingers tightly gripped the fabric over her chest, which felt crushed and suffocating.
"Leon... my baby... where are you, sweetie?" Sera whispered through her ragged breaths, consumed by despair.
Hary knelt beside Sera, holding her shoulders with a look of deep regret and panic.
"Sera, calm down! We'll definitely find Leon. I've already sent my men to comb the surrounding area!" Hary called out, trying to soothe her.
"How can I calm down, Hary?!" Sera shrieked hysterically, shoving Hary's hands away. Her bloodshot eyes were filled with tears. "I was just happy! It's only been a few hours since I celebrated my freedom from Maya's prison! I thought... I thought I could finally hold and raise my child in peace!"
"I understand, Sera. But if you get hysterical like this, we won't be able to think clearly!" Hary urged firmly.
"God is so cruel to me, Hary..." Sera said faintly, her voice breaking and terribly raspy. "Why is it that every time I find a ray of happiness, fate snatches it back without mercy? Why does my baby have to be the victim?!"
"This must be the work of Maya's henchmen or the clan's loyalists," Hary remarked, glancing toward the open front door. "But Sera, there's one thing that has been bugging my mind..."
Sera looked up slowly, wiping the tears from her cheeks with trembling hands. "What... what do you mean?"
"About the question I asked you in the forest earlier," Hary said, staring intently into Sera's eyes. "Who is Baby Leon's real father? You said his father was your ultimate enemy. Who is he, Sera? Please be honest with me!"
Sera fell silent for a moment. A suffocating stillness crept between the two of them. Sera bit her lower lip tightly, holding back the bitter truth that had been burning in her chest for months inside that dark cave.
"Why do you need to know now, Hary?" Sera hissed softly, turning her face away.
"Because it concerns Leon's safety!" Hary demanded, his voice rising. "If his father is a dangerous figure, it could be rogue wolves or pack enemies who kidnapped him! Tell me, Sera!"
Sera squeezed her eyes shut, letting out a hot breath laced with deep grudge and bitterness. Tears trickled down her cheeks once more.
"The biological father of that baby..." Sera whispered raspily, her voice sounding cold and trembling, "...is Cassen."
Hary froze in place, his eyes wide in absolute disbelief. "W-what? Cassen?! The ruthless Alpha of the Black Wolf Pack?!"
"Yes," Sera admitted, clenching her fists tightly on her lap. "That night of the attack... when Maya framed me and locked me away, Cassen was the one who"
"Turns out my guess was not wrong at all."
A deep, heavy, and extremely cold voice suddenly echoed from the back door of the house. The voice was so dominant that it cut Sera off mid-sentence, instantly freezing the blood of both people in the room.
Sera jolted in shock. Her heart felt as though it stopped beating on the spot. That voice... a voice so familiar, yet her ultimate nightmare.
Sera turned around slowly, her body trembling violently. Her eyes widened in horror as she caught sight of the tall, broad-shouldered man standing casually in the doorway. He wore a thick black cloak, featuring sharp facial features and eagle-like eyes that gleamed mysteriously.
And cradled against his broad chest... Baby Leon was sleeping soundly and peacefully.
"Cassen?!" Hary gasped spontaneously, stepping forward to shield Sera.
"Leon!" Sera shrieked hysterically. She tried to push herself up, even though her knees felt completely weak and powerless. "Leon! Give my baby back!"
Cassen ignored both Hary's threat and Sera's hysterical cries. He stepped forward slowly, lowering his gaze to look at the tiny baby in his arms with an unreadable expression. His large, scarred finger gently stroked Baby Leon's chubby cheek.
"So..." Cassen whispered in a low, trembling tone, "this little boy who was crying on the porch... is my own blood and flesh?"
Sera froze, her breath catching in her throat. "C-Cassen... don't touch my baby!"
Cassen slowly shifted his sharp gaze from Baby Leon's face straight into Sera's terrified eyes. A faint, cold, and mysterious smirk formed on the Alpha's lips.
"I picked him up right at the front door while you were busy mourning your fate in the kitchen, Sera," Cassen said softly, yet every word pierced through like a blade. "I intended to use him as bait to lure you out... but who would have thought I'd hear such a fascinating confession straight from your own mouth?"
"Cassen, please... give Leon back to me!" Tears burst from Sera's eyes even harder. She stepped closer, pressing her palms together in a desperate plea. "Don't hurt him! He knows nothing! Don't take your revenge against me out on a helpless baby!"
"Hurt my own child?" Cassen asked, furrowing his brow. His voice dropped low, shifting into a dominant threat distinct to an Alpha. "Do you think I'm a monster who would kill my own flesh and blood, Sera?"
"You are the enemy!" Hary interjected, pulling a dagger from his waist. "Hand over the baby right now, Cassen! Or I'll—"
Crash!
Without even touching him, a wave of dark aura released by Cassen slammed Hary against the wooden wall, leaving him coughing in pain.
"Be quiet, little insect. This is between me and my mate," Cassen hissed coldly, without glancing at Hary who was slumped on the floor.
Sera rushed toward Cassen, dropping straight to her knees before the tall man, throwing all her pride away. She clutched the edge of Cassen's black cloak with her trembling fingers.
"Cassen, I'm begging you..." Sera sobbed, her words broken by agonizing wails. "I've suffered for so long in that cave. I was tortured, humiliated, and lost everything! Please... don't take Leon from my life. He's the only reason I'm still alive!"
Cassen looked down, gazing at Sera kneeling at his feet. His initially cold expression softened for a brief second upon seeing the sheer terror in the woman's eyes.
"You said I'm your ultimate enemy, Sera," Cassen said as he dropped to one knee, bringing himself down to Sera's eye level without releasing his hold on Baby Leon. "But the truth is, the seed that grew inside your womb belongs to me. This child carries the Alpha blood of the Black Wolf Pack."
"I don't care whose blood runs through his veins!" Sera screamed raspily. "He's my child! I'm the one who gave birth to him in that rotting cave!"
"And starting today, he is our child," Cassen cut in firmly, his voice leaving no room for argument.
He wrapped his free arm around Sera's shoulders, pulling the sobbing woman into his embrace alongside Baby Leon.
"I heard everything, Sera. About Maya, the torture in that cave, and how you were discarded," Cassen whispered right into Sera's ear, his tone laced with a chilling promise. "Whoever tortured the mother of my child... will pay for it in blood."
Sera froze inside Cassen's embrace, suspended between tears of despair and the comforting warmth of her baby's body, safe once more.
