Chapter 129
Chapter 129
Kelly
I had spent my entire life facing cameras. But this was different. This wasn’t a music concert nor a live broadcast. This wasn’t a scandal that would fade in a week. This was war, and the world was watching.
The second I stepped outside, hundreds of voices crashed down on me.
"Kelly! Did you manipulate your father’s will?"
"Why are you avoiding the DNA test?"
"Are you even legally entitled to his estate?"
Cameras flashed, microphones shoved toward my face, the heat of the spotlights burning into my skin.
I kept my face calm, unreadable. But inside? I was boiling. This was exactly what Kate wanted.
She wanted me cornered. But I wasn’t going to let her win.
I lifted my chin, walking up the stage, my heartbeat steady, my steps measured.
Kate was already there, smug, composed, victorious. She wasn’t just enjoying this, she was thriving in it.
And in her hand? Lay a white envelope. The DNA test or so…..
Kate took the microphone, her expression full of fake sorrow.
"I never wanted this," she said, her voice trembling just enough to sound believable. "I wanted us to be a family, Kelly. But you left me no choice.”
The audience waited on her every word.
"I had to seek the truth myself. So I took the DNA test, without Kelly's permission. And the results?”
She paused, letting the suspense drag. Then she held up the envelope.
"The truth is in here."
The crowd roared. Reporters shouted, cameras zoomed in, flashes firing from every angle.
And then—she smiled directly at me, voice sweet as poison.
"But before I reveal anything… I want Kelly to answer something first."
The audience went silence, waiting.
"Kelly," she said. "Did you or did you not manipulate Dad’s will?"
A ripple of shock went through the crowd. My fists clenched. She was twisting everything.
I stepped forward, voice strong.
"I never touched my father’s will. And you know that, Kate."
She tilted her head. "Do I?"
She turned to the crowd.
"Kelly has controlled everything from the beginning. She’s always been the favorite, always had the final say. And now that Dad is missing, suddenly the will benefits her completely? How convenient."
The murmurs grew louder. I forced myself to stay calm.
"You’re lying," I said.
She shrugged. "Then why don’t you explain these?"
She pulled out printed documents. Photos of legal papers. Pages that looked like I had altered our father’s estate. The perfect illusion.
Gasps filled the air.
"Fake," I snapped. "You know these are fake."
"Am I?" Kate turned, facing the reporters. "Then why not take the DNA test? Prove to the world you belong in this family."
The crowd roared. She had trapped me, I could feel the noose tightening. But I wasn’t about to let her win.
I stepped forward, locking eyes with her.
“You want the truth, Kate?" My voice was steady, sharp.
"The truth is, you don’t care about this family. You don’t care about Dad. You only care about one thing, the will”
Kate’s eyes darkened. I turned to the reporters, making sure the cameras caught every word.
"Kate has spent years trying to destroy me. She stole everything from me, she twisted my past, and now she’s doing this? Why? Because she couldn’t stand that I was chosen over her. She doesn’t want the truth, she just wants nothing but what she would gain”
The crowd shifted, whispers grew. Kate’s smugness cracked. But just as I thought I had turned the tide, she pulled out one last trick.
Kate sighed, shaking her head.
"I wanted to settle this privately, Kelly. I really did."
She pulled out another document. Bigger and Bolder.
Then she held it up for the world to see.
A fake payment record. A list of transactions, money wired from my account to a private medical facility, Adrian’s hospital.
The headline printed on top?
‘Funds Wired to Hide Louis Brook in Secret Location’
My breath hitched.
Kate smiled, soft, pitying.
"I hate doing this, Kelly. But this? This proves everything."
The crowd erupted. I could barely hear myself think.
The reporters swarmed:
"Kelly! Did you pay to hide your father?"
"Are you involved in his disappearance?"
"Is this why you’re avoiding the DNA test?”
I turned to Kate, my voice sharp.
"This is a lie."
She sighed. "Then prove it."
She knew I couldn’t, for now. Not with everything stacked against me. And then, something shifted in the crowd. A hooded figure. My pulse slammed.
I knew that hoodie, I had seen it before. And just as my eyes locked onto the figure—it disappeared.
A chill crept down my spine. Because suddenly—I realized something. This wasn’t just Kate’s game.
Someone else was pulling strings.
And things are turning out in their 𝕗𝕒𝕧𝕠𝕦𝕣.
