Chapter 27 Chapter 27

Skylar

I was happy to have told Leo my mind; he could go to hell if he thought he was going to make me look like the bad person.

At least he knew Tiffany’s; it was left to him to do whatever he wanted with it. As for me, I was done playing victim.

I walked down the stairs; they said they wanted to play a game, and I wanted to partake in it.

Tiffany came out of nowhere, pushing me to the floor, and I fell on my knees. She was fuming, and her lips were pouted.

“What do you want from me?” I asked, wincing from my arching knee.

“I warned you, but you wouldn’t listen, you little skank.” As she said this, she rushed towards me, grabbing my necklace.

“Hey, give that back.” I yelled, dragging it with her. She won, but using the sharp edge, she dragged it down from her elbow down to her pulse point.

“Are you insane?” I yelled at her as blood started gushing out from the cut; she threw the necklace to the floor, grinding her shoes on it till it split in two.

I was furious but not only was I wounded; that was my father’s last gift to me before he died. I believe it was a link to me, and it had been with me for years.

I couldn't help it; the tears started shedding uncontrollably. Tiffany was just so mean, and now she was screaming at the top of her voice, calling out to Leo.

She was a despicable psychopath.

Leo came running like a moron, and that pissed me off.

When he saw her bleeding, he ran to her first even though I was crying as well.

“What happened?” he asked worriedly. “Skylar took out her necklace and grazed me with it,” she lied and I stared at her shocked.

What did she just say? That was when, nah, Tiffany had no redemption; she was going to burn in hell. No one was convincing me otherwise.

“Why would you do that to her? What did Tiffany ever do to you?”

“She is lying; I didn't touch her. She even broke my necklace.” I defended, but he still ran to her side.

“You really want me to believe that Tiffany cut herself. Why would she do that?”

I was still crying and didn't have the energy to explain myself.

“I know you don't like Tiffany, and that is why you hurt her. All I need you to do is apologize, and I will let everything slide.”

Leo explained.

Tiffany, on the other hand, the witch of the west, stepped in, “depending on how sincere the apology is. ”,

“To hell with you both, I am not apologizing to anyone.” I said,

Leo made to come towards me once more, but Tiffany shrieked, “Leo, it hurts,” and he ran to her side once more. He was such a fool; I wondered what I saw in him in the first place.

“How would Tiffany hurt herself in the first place? She has an aversion to pain.” Leo explained, and I completed for him in my head, ‘and so did I.’ The boy I loved all my life was lost to me at that moment; he didn't know my favorite color or food, but I knew lots of things about him. I felt cheated at that moment; my heart clenched.

“Fine, I would apologize,” I said. I wanted everything to pass, to be far away from them and Tiffany’s stupid games.

“My girlfriend isn't apologizing to no one,” I heard from behind. Troy came over looking from me to Tiffany. His eyes held pity as he did the most unexpected thing I thought he would do.
He took a bottle that had beer remaining in it, then moved over to Tiffany, pouring the rest of the beer over her cut.

She didn't scream; that was too easy. Nor did she cry, but she wailed.

Hitting a part of the bottle against the wall so that it could shard a person. He pointed at the rough part at them.

“If any of you try as much as to hurt my girlfriend again, I just don't know where you would end up,” he warned, sending a note of threat.

And with the horrified look on their faces, I knew they cherished their lives more as they turned and left.

Troy lifted me up off the ground, taking me to the bathroom as I washed off the blood that was over the necklace.

It was getting late, and I knew I needed to go home.

Troy took me to his jeep; I was wearing his oversized jacket, and my swim trunks were in a bag he provided.

“How do you know I didn't really do it?” I asked because I was curious and needed to know.

The minute he had stepped into the scene, he just knew, and that has surprised me.

“Because I know you have a low tolerance for pain; the way you flinch when any of the team members fall on ice or when they are injured is enough to tell. ”,

“So you have been watching me this whole time? ”,

“Yes, because I have liked you the whole time.

I blinked rapidly, my cheeks flushed.

“You aren't supposed to say that; that is not part of the deal. ”,

“Fuck the deal and playing pretend.”

I was biting my bottom lip, and I really wanted to kiss him now; he was so sweet, and he just knew how to say the right words.

He cupped my cheeks, and I knew what to expect instantly; he was going to kiss me. The thought kept lingering in my head. And I felt like a jet that was flying in clouds; everything was happening so fast.

The chemistry was tugging at us; I had the impulse to tell him to kiss me already, to give me the Troy effect. To take me off the earth and bring me back in the next 365 days—was this how it felt to be with someone you liked? It was an addiction; you just didn't know what you would do without them.

I didn't blame Troy; fuck the deal and kiss me till it rained snow.

Troy wasn't a friend anymore; he was more, and I was going to find that out soon.

“Stop hesitating, kiss me, you dummy,” and he did; he actually did.
