Chapter 85: The divided worlds

Chapter 85: The divided worlds
Marcus POV

The time passed and before I knew it, it was already 5 years gone.
My search after her never has downed down as I restlessly looked everywhere, in every place, sending search parties to follow leads that were heard only to be fooled away but I never gave up.
There wasn’t a day I stopped my search, to even get rest, nor I cared for myself as all I wanted was to find her and bring her where she belongs, by my side.
Damon and Azrael followed me everywhere, and I was grateful to them both for all their help. The Elders court was dismissed as the ones that the day Olivia vanished into the thin air, they fought against us, wanting to keep the Law alive.
We decided to grant the ones who fought by our side, willing to admit their wrongs, and to take the Law down, we granted them to keep their titles and positions as Elders while the ones that have been captive, locked, are removed from their role as Elders and waiting for their trial.
As everyone heard about the Law that forbids mates to be together was taken down, and they can freely accept the destined ones to be together, happy, I was told that cheers were heard from place to place, town to town, country to country, as everyone celebrated and happily accepted the news.
I was happy for them, but my heart was not full as I was missing the one that is supposed to be by my side and shear our victory, but what kind of a victory is it for me?
I am a fighter, a born warrior, but none of my victories felt like one when I couldn’t shear them with her.
I knew that Damon and Azrael and all of our friends were worried about me, saying I should of slow down and get my thoughts in order, but I didn’t want to waste more time. I just had to find her and hold her finally in my arms.
The thoughts of Tyson keeping my mate away from me, flooded my mind, making my blood boil as I wanted nothing less but to take his life away with my bare hands.
Damon felt guilty for Olivia’s disappearance, saying that he should have surrounded a bigger area and keep his eyes further off and not just at the entrance to the castle. No matter how much I told him that I didn't blame him for her disappearance, he wouldn't stop beating himself up. Therefore he followed Azrael and me, everywhere we would go.
I wasn’t giving up on my search, nor I cared at the moment for my Alpha duties, but thankfully my father stepped in and gave me what I needed…time.
We were home now, in my pack lands, trying to find old maps that could guide us to places that we haven’t yet seen.
I was restless while Logan and Tanner were bringing to my study room, maps that were brought to us with the help of other shifters and even the Elders themselves.
Finally, they unwrap another old map, placing it on the table as I rush to look at it, pointing at the land that we have seen and search already, and eliminating it so we could narrow down our search.
Each time I would get a new scroll of an old map, my heart would race in my chest in hopes that we will finally find her, but to only get disappointed at the end when we would see that we looked everywhere we knew.
As my eyes looked all over the map, I felt my heart shatter making me growl out in frustration.
I grabbed the first thing that my hand could reach for, tossing it with anger into the wall making the pieces of the glass sounding as it broke by the impact.
The memory of the time when my father wanted me to claim Samantha and reject my mate, those words we have spoken the last time we fought together, flooded inside my mind, making me turn my head growling at him as I spoke with venom coating every word, “Do not tell me to calm down! You wanted nothing less but for me to be with the one you chose for me. You fucking picked a traitor, a snake in our own lair to be my Luna!” walking closer not stopping until our chests were close enough, almost touching when I continued, “You must be happy that my mate is gone and I can’t find her.”
My father growled back hearing my words, closing his eyes to calm his temper rising as slowly he opened them a moment later, looking me deep into the eyes as he spoke, “I was wrong Marcus, I will admit that. I was wrong because I miss my mate, I miss your mother, and when she died it took a part of me with her. I never wanted you to suffer as much as I still do, but I see I was wrong trying to force you to do differently. But I am proud of you for standing up against my wishes and following your heart. I wish I have met her and got to know her, and I will not stop helping you to get your mate back.”
I was speechless as even my own growls ceased, hearing my father’s words, but what was more shocking was his honesty that I could sense in his words and see in his eyes.
Taking a deep breath, I nodded my head as I said, “Thank you, father.”
He placed a hand on my shoulder, squeezing it firmly, “We will find her Marcus.”
Giving him a small smile, we both walked back towards the map, rolling it away, about to unwrap another one, but were stopped when we saw Edmond walking inside the room, followed by his mate Lyssa, who was giving me a big warm smile as they walked towards us.
Damon looked over at them, “Edmond? Is everything ok at home?” He asked him, feeling confused as to why the two have come.
That is when I noticed them carry an old piece of the map, making me curious as I looked at them silently, waiting to see what did they brought.
“Oh, everything is perfect at home Alpha Damon. Your father has it all under his control with the help of your Beta and Gamma.” Edmond answered him with a chuckle, turning his eyes towards me.
“The reason we came is that we found the missing map,” Edmond said as Lyssa placed the map on the table, slowly unwrapping the sides of it, revealing the ancient map of the divided world. My eyes widened, seeing the map that everyone believed was destroyed ages ago.
“When I touched Olivia’s hand that day, I saw the darkness that was powerful, wrapped around her, almost like choking her. The necklace calls for the darkness to follow her and find her, but as you all could see, the necklace couldn’t be broken unless the pure, white magic is used.” Edmond spoke to us, as he revealed his thoughts of that day.
Edmond leaned over the desk and pointed out with his finger at the side of a map we have never seen before.
“As I was able to feel and see the strong presence of the dark magic, it made me later realize that Olivia must have been all this time there,” Edmond said.
“All this time, where?” Tanner asked as he overheard Edmond speak while he was storing the maps away.
“In the lands of evil or in other terms, darkness,” Edmond answered him.
My eyes took in the map, memorizing every path there was that would lead me towards those lands.
Damon said, “We can go faster if we fly there.”
I looked up at him, hearing his request and for the first time ever I was grateful that he and I were on the same side. I nodded my head, “Could your warriors carry mine?”
Damon smiled proudly, sparks for the first time in a long time, shining in his eyes as he said, “Hell, we will carry legions plus not only my warriors will be helping so yes they will carry as much as there is needed.”
Azrael and I looked at each other, silently agreeing that we are going and taking the warriors with us, I rushed outside the packhouse, waiting for Damon to come and take us to the Dark lands.
Damon approached Azrael and me, “I just informed my Beta of our plan and they will all come and collect the warriors and bring other warriors of packs that are helping. So we can start our journey.”
Damon started to undress, tossing his clothes to us as his shift started, and there stood his black dragon.
My heart was beating loudly in my chest, finally, after so much time lost, I have found her, and I am not leaving without my mate.
