Chapter 70: The old dragon’s gift
Chapter 70: The old dragon’s gift
We were all patiently sitting and waiting for the old dragon called Edmond to come as Damon went to find him.
Damien called in a pack member that brought us some hot chocolate and it felt good as it tasted absolutely amazing and the warmth calmed down my nerves.
Not that I was nervous, more like excited to meet this old dragon and hear him out.
The door to the study room opened and inside came Damon followed slowly by a tall man that had long grey hair that was tied back into a little ponytail but suited him nicely. He looked more like a hippie as the air around him felt calm and friendly.
He didn’t look at all old, more mature as he had around his blue eyes little lines that showed he smiled a lot.
He looked over at us all the moment he closed the door behind him and Damien spoke, “Ah Edmond, so glad that you have joined us. Please take a seat and let me introduce you to our guests.”
Edmond walked closer and as Damien introduced each one of us to an old dragon, we shook his hand one by one, and finally, he sat down and smiled at us all, revealing pearly whites that brought smiled upon our faces.
“Alpha Damon said I was needed so I came as fast as I could. What seems to be the problem?” Edmond asked looking at Damien.
Damien smiled at him, “Always directly to the point.”
He continued to explain to him, “Well my son and his Beta and Gamma, went with a few of here present friends of Alpha Marcus and Olivia to rescue them from the Elders lands.”
Edmond blew at his hot chocolate, listening carefully as what Damien was telling him, “Really?”
Edmond asked as he smiled up towards Damon who confirmed with a nod of his head.
“Let me guess…Alpha Marcus and Olivia are mates?” Edmond said as he looked over towards us with a soft smile.
“And you disobeyed the Law…” he added, taking a sip of his hot chocolate, “O this is delicious.” He placed the cup down on the coffee table as he intertwined his fingers and looked over at us.
“Well it was about time!” he said happily making us all look at him in confusion.
“Care to explain that Edmond?” Damien asked him making the old dragons eyes shine excitedly.
"It was foreseen that such thing will happen and am glad to see it first hand and meet the chosen ones," Edmond said.
“Can you tell us more about what you are saying?” Damon was the one to ask the question this time.
Edmond thought about it for a moment then finally he said, “Yes as it is my duty.”
He got up and asked Tanner to move aside, as Tanner went and took the seat that Edmond was sitting not long ago on, he took Marcus by his hand making Marcus look at him confused but he said nothing as he silently watched the old man.
Edmond's eyes started to glow in silver light, as his hands that covered over Marcus's hand were lightly shining with white light.
Marcus was about to ask a question but Damien motioned for him to be still and quiet and to let the old dragon do his thing.
Soon enough the light in Edmond's eyes stopped shining, as he looked directly into Marcus and smiled, "Finally." He said in a soft whisper.
Edmond turned his excited eyes then towards me as he extended his hand and asked, “May I?”
I looked down into his inviting hand and placed my own in his huge one. He placed his other palm over my hand and we all could see his eyes started to shine the same light just a moment ago as his hands felt so warm over mine, shining with the same light.
We waited silently for him to finish, and soon enough as he did, his eyes stopped shining and he looked at me, “Yes…” he whispered.
What did he mean with “Yes?”
He sat down comfortably and spoke to us all in a calm voice, “There is an ancient prophecy that says that the Moon Goddess will send two of her creations that will be destined to end the ways that have been forced upon us and they will lead all to prosper and will unite the worlds of shifters.”
“Yes we heard about that but why are you saying that?” Tanner, the impatient one as always beat us and asked him.
Edmond said, “Because the two chosen ones are here with us.”
Gasps filled the room as mouths opened, and all the eyes were looking at Marcus and me.
"There is more." Edmond added, "The two joined together, as they accepted their bond, the power awakens inside of them to gain their full potentials for the Moon Goddess plan…"
Everyone was silently listening, sitting close to the edge of their seats as they were anxious to hear more of what he was to say.
"But if the two reject the bond, and not fulfill the mating process, they will not achieve their powers and the world of shifters will be doomed until the next ones are born," Edmond concluded.
"So what happens to them if they reject the bond?" Lizzy asked as others looked from her to Edmond.
"In the end, they die. They lose their mind and die." He said.
“But they have bonded. Everyone can see that.” He said making me blush as Marcus smirked.
Edmond pushed down the collar of Marcus's shirt, but as he looked over his skin, his eyebrows narrowed.
Then he turned towards me and moved a little my collar which made Marcus growl, but the old dragon ignored him as his reaction was the same. As he was removing his hand away from my shirt, his hand grazed over my necklace making his eyes glow silver, as he stopped and took the pendant and look at it.
In the next moment, his eyes stopped glowing, as he let go of the necklace and said, "You need to take it off."
I looked at him confused as to why would I need to take off my necklace. Marcus's eyes laid down onto my necklace in confusion, as he asked the old dragon, "What is wrong?"
Edmond looked at the necklace, as he said, “It is dark magic. You need to remove it and destroy it.”
Marcus looked at me in question as my eyes went wide and a gasp fell out of my lips.
"That jerk!!" Mandy exclaimed out loudly, making us all look her way.
She was furious as she was eying the necklace.
“What are you talking about baby?” James asked as he tried to calm her down.
"He…he did that on purpose! That no-good son of a bitch!" Mandy stood up and rushed towards me as she reached behind my neck to unclasp my necklace.
“Who gave it to you?” Marcus looked at me with questioning eyes.
Damon cursed under his breath, "Tyson." He said making Marcus look from me to Damon and then in a second at the necklace.
“This stupid thing won’t come off!” Mandy was struggling to take the necklace off but to no use.
Lizzy stood up and walked towards us, “Here, let me try.”
Mandy stopped her tries and let her, but she was still fuming, “I know how to unclasp a necklace you know.”
Lizzy rolled her eyes as she answered her, “I know you do silly, but you are too angry to do it calmly so that is why you couldn’t take it off.”
Mandy snorted as she went and sat down in James's lap, who tried to calm her down as he rubbed her back.
"Why would you wear it?" Marcus question took me by surprise, as I tried to find words to answer, Damon, beat me to it, "Because she trusted him and he gave her no choice as he was the one that put it on."
Marcus looked at him with his eyes narrowed, “How do you know?”
"Hell, I have seen him do it," Damon said as Marcus growls sounded. He took deep breaths to try to calm down.
“Did he say anything as he placed the necklace?” Edmond asked me, looking at me.
I scrunched my brows as I thought about it. I couldn't remember as it was a long time ago, but then I remember, and looked up at Edmond and said, "I think he did mumble something but I wasn't paying attention as I could even barely hear the words."
Edmond nodded his head at that.
"I can't take it off," Lizzy complained as she was struggling to take the necklace off.
“Let me try.” Marcus took the necklace and tried to unclasp it, but as it didn’t show any attempt that is getting off, he tried to break it but no use.
"You won't be able to take it off," Edmond said finally.
Marcus stopped with his tries to break it and turned around to look at Edmond, “Then how are we supposed to take it off?”
"It was made by dark powerful magic and can be taken off by the same magic or white strong magic. Unfortunately, before you ask me, no I can’t take it off as my gift is to foreseen things, not magic." Edmond said.
Marcus leaned over onto his elbows, pressed on his knees as his fingers massaged his temples.
"You both didn't complete your mating, you need to claim each other to fulfill the destiny that is awaiting you both," Edmond said making Marcus look at him silently and me to turn bright red.
"And what about the part in a prophecy that says they take down the injustice that was forced upon the shifter world?" Damon asked him as the old dragon looked at him with a bright smile,
“You need to find the White warriors of the Moon Goddess.” He said.
“But isn’t that just a story?” I asked Edmond.
He chuckled, “No, it is a legend that follows every generation of shifters, spreading it over to the next one to speak of their strength and power as well as an all true powerful one called Azrael.”
Logan spoke, asking Edmond, “So if they are real, and let’s guess alive…”
"O they are very much alive my boy. They are the first creations of the Goddess, placed on this world to keep the peace and will of the Goddess herself. When they defeated Titans, she has sent them to a hidden land, a land that is inside the Moon Goddess sacred mountain itself. You all are to go and find Azrael and seek their help to take down the Law. The task is not easy, but I know you will manage.” Edmond said.
He looked over at Marcus, "The greatest task is still ahead of you, and remember, do not lose your faith when the darkness comes. Great deeds await you both but hard times are ahead."
