Chapter 62

I woke up on a strapped to a table that was standing vertical. I was looking at a passed-out Hayden. He was on a similar white table strapped down. “Hayden.” I mind linked

“Ember what is going on I can't open my eyes.” Shit he was really drugged.

“It is okay. You can still hear right?”

“I think so.” Just then McConnors walked in.

“Well, well, well Ember, your back with us.”

“What do you want from me.”

“We want information.”

“What do you want this time you already have everything you asked for last time.”

“Not true I want to know how you transitioned and survived being bit.”

“I don’t know.”

“That is okay we will see results some way or another. I am told this is your mate” I don’t say anything

“No response, that is not polite." Then he began to run a knife across Hayden's chest cutting his toned stomach.

“Stop please.”

“Oh, so he is your mate.”

“Yes, okay.”

“Now tell me how you survived.”

“I told you I don’t know how I survived.”

“Lies.” He cut Hayden again.

“If you lie again, I will slit his throat.”

“I told you I don’t know. That is the truth.”

“Fine he is going to die.”

“You can't?”

“And why is that.”

“We imprinted. If he dies, I die too.”

“That is made up.”

“No, it isn't.” He abruptly left the room. I mind link Hayden again.

“Hayden?”

“I am still here. I think I am waking up.”

“Did you hear what I told him.”

“Yes, I did. It was a good call.”

“Look we may not have a lot of time, but play knocked out till I say otherwise it was how I escaped last time.”

“Okay.” McConnors came back into the white room.

“So, turns out you are not a liar. Imprinting is real and extremely rare. It made someone very unhappy to hear you were imprinted.” I didn’t know what he was talking about.

“What are you talking about.”

“Oh, you haven't figured it out, Monroe has been working for us the whole time. It has been why you have been a step behind us the whole time.”

My head beings to start reeling. That bastard. “Yeah, see we made him a deal. He would become alpha over all the packs as he would be the last alpha in exchange, we would give us intel to take the majority of your kind out.”

“When he found out about you, he wanted to strike a new bargain. He wanted you. We made the deal that you wouldn’t die and that he could have you after we were done. Of course, he was an idiot to believe we would keep our word.”

“After all he is an animal why would we make deal with him”

“Let me out.”

“Oh, no, you won't be getting out of here for a very long time. And when you do it will be in a body bag.”

The man motioned for a man to come in and take Hayden out of the room.” What are you doing?”

“Oh, nothing seeing as he can't be allowed to die, we will just use him for some information about imprinting. It will be nice to understand what makes you tick. Who knows we may even be able to sever the bond. You know we still have not cracked severing the mate bond, but we can keep trying.”

“Why are you doing this.”

“Because we can. And because Lycan are vermin. We need to know all your weakness to destroy all of you.”

“Haven’t you done enough. All those packs you destroyed the rabies.”

“Ah yes, the rabies. You know it was a new strain we invented. Highly contagious you know. But, to answer your question no, we have not done enough. We still have those that escaped us, the rogues, and a few smaller packs still.”

“You have more than that what about the ones in other countries.”

“Yes, well once we completely clear this continent then we will clear the next one and so on.” I began to feel my strength returning. But, like before I kept my strength hidden. I needed the right moment.

“I think you may like to see what we are going to be doing to your precious mate. Would you like that?”

I didn’t say anything. Then he went out of the room for a minuet and then returned. He held up a remote and then I noticed the small tv in the corner of the room. Next thing I saw was Hayden. He was being lashed.

“Stop it.” I screamed.

“You want me to stop you will tell me about how you changed. “

I was crying. Looking at Hayden being lashed. He had blood running down his back. “Okay just please stop.” Then McConnors pulled out his walkie talkie from his belt and said.

“Hold off on the whipping.” I looked at the small screen and sure enough they stopped. I took a minute to compose myself. Sniffling. I began to think quick. I knew what I was going to do. I knew how I would kill him. Getting out of here alive would be much harder.
