Amanda walked into Damien's office, her face passive yet seductive. Adrian had his eyes closed as he was feeling stressed and he had another meeting in the next thirty minutes. He felt his door open but didn't bother opening his eyes.
"Your majesty," Amanda whispered
Adrian finally opened his eyes. He stared at Amanda with tired eyes. He didn't want anyone disturbing his peace.
"Hello, Amanda. Do you need something?" he asked, his eyes briefly staring at the tray she held. It was obvious she brought his meal for him.
"I brought you lunch. You didn't come down for breakfast and lunch. I thought you might be hungry so I quickly made this for you," she explained.
"You didn't have to do it," he said, sighing.
"But I already did," she said, placing the tray in front of him.
Adrian took one look at the food and smiled softly. "You can take it away. I appreciate your effort, but I don't think I want to eat," he said.
Amanda frowned.
"I had this made myself,'' she said
"Well, that's why I said I appreciate your effort," he coldly replied.
"Okay then. But can I stay here for some minutes to at least keep you company?" she asked
"Amanda. You're trying too hard and it's not good for your image. It's a privilege I get to remember your name, but don't push your luck," he sternly warned
"You think I'm doing too much?" she asked
"You're not dumb right?" he stated.
The door opened and Mila walked in, holding a tray as the aroma wafted through the room. She was smiling as she walked in.
She froze in place as she stared at the redhead present in the room.
"Amanda?" she called out.
"Mila," Amanda smirked.

Mila's POV
There was no way for me to find out who the other person might be as the book didn't say so. Guess I'll have to do the rest myself. I took the other books o borrowed from the library to the room. I will study it later
I felt hungry and remembered Adrian wouldn't have eaten either. I went to the kitchen and prepared something for the both of us. After I confirmed he was in the office, I went in. I had a smile plastered across my face as I walked in. I envisioned the look on his face.
Who would have thought once I opened that door, I would see the face I hadn't imagine to see ever again? There she was, Amanda. What did she want again? She was holding a tray in front of Adrian, her face seemed to scrunch as she stared at me.
"Amanda?" I called out.
"Mila," she smirked weirdly.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"Long time no see," she said.
"Yeah," I scoffed
"Well, that's not a good way to greet a friend," she stated.
Before I could respond, Adrian chimed in.
"You two know each other?" he asked.
"Yes," Amanda spoke quickly. "We used to be friends," she smiled sweetly
Adrian seemed to contemplate something.
Amanda's eyes seemed to look down to my tray. "Looks like you are also here to give him his meal. If you're a maid here? What a pity," she teased.
I scoffed but said nothing.
"Amanda, you can leave," he said.
Amanda stared at me mockingly and walked past me.
Once the door clicked shut, I went over to it and locked it properly so no one would come.
"Feisty," Adrian teased.
I rolled my eyes and walked over and placed the food on the table.
"I made something for us. I figured you might be hungry," I said and made to sit on the chair opposite him but he drew me back. He placed me gently on his legs and I smiled.
"Do you want to talk about it?" he asked, referring to Amanda.
"The only thing I can say is we are far from being friends," I said and grabbed a fork.
Adrian didn't seem to pursue the issue and grabbed his fork.
"So you're this thoughtful?" he questioned
"What do you mean?" I curiously questioned.
"Well, you made food for me, knowing I would be hungry," he said.
"Well, don't think too much of it. I just wanted to be kind," I argued.
"So it's not a form of you telling me you care about me?" he asked, smirking.
"It's not," I hit him playfully.
"Right..." he smiled and took a bite of the meal.
I stared at him eagerly.
He closed his eyes and moaned.
"This is amazing. I didn't know you could make such delicious food," he complimented.
"You're not lying about it being good, are you?" I pouted.
"Have a bite then and judge for yourself,'' he said and raised it to my lips
I smiled and ate it. I knew it was delicious. But he might have been eating delicious meals all his life, so mine might be a little less than he was used to. They hire the best chef in the kingdom and he prepares all the meals.
"Why didn't you accept the food she brought for you?" I asked, staring at him intently.
"I had a hunch you were going to bring me something much more delicious. I didn't want to ruin my big appetite," he teased again.
"You're making jokes," I laughed
"Glad you know. But I don't accept food from people who aren't your friends," he raised his brows playfully
I laughed.
Why was he showing me all his playful side lately? And what's more unsettling was I was enjoying this side of him. I didn't want him to change anything. There were many things left to uncover and things to do.
My mind drifted off again.
Why was Amanda here? She had taken my first mate and now, she had come and it seemed she was trying to get Adrian's attention. Although I had the feeling Adrian would keep to his promise, I wasn't sure abou
t Amanda's motive.
Guess I'll have to find out things for myself.
