Chapter 57

Clemencia POV

‘Stop pacing, you’re going to dig a hole in the floor.’

I grumbled at Terra’s comment, nibbling on my nails, as I stared at the closed door in front of me.

‘I’m really uncomfortable with that plan. What if she is lying? We can’t risk losing her, it is pretty soon in her recovery, and I’m pretty new at this, and it is a very advanced level of healing, I’m not even sure if…’

I jumped at the contact of a hand covering mine, stopping me from gnawing it to the bones.

“Please be confident in yourself, love. You are the strongest she-wolf I know.” Kylon leaned down and kissed my scrunched nose, making him chuckle. “And the more stubborn I know.”

I didn’t hear coming, too focused on the thoughts I thought I was thinking but was actually speaking out loud.

“Kylon, I’m really not sure about this. So far, she came a long way, but isn’t it too soon for her to see the Elder?”

“I know… I’m worried too. But she agreed, and you guys bonded enough, enough so that the emergency code you agreed on seems solid. And she is the only one who can save him.”

Pressing my hands softly, I could feel the heavy burden he carried in his firm voice. Freeing myself from his grasp, I grabbed his face and pulled it down toward mine, lifting myself on the tip of my toes to reach his cheeks and kiss him swiftly.

“And you saved me.”

“You guys are so cute.”

For the second time today, I didn’t notice someone intruding. Sarabella had opened her door and was looking at us, a huge grin on her delicate face, with a strange sparkle twinkling in the corner of her eyes. The doubt of ME being ready surged through my body, igniting my mind, increasing my heart race to an impossible pace. Sensing me, I felt the arms of my mate closing on me, holding on tightly as he stuck his cheek against mine, slightly rubbing it.

“Aren’t weeeeeee?” Kylon said in an overly high pitched voice, distorting his usually suave tone. Half laughing, I pushed him away and turned to Bella, my face probably expressing all my worries because hers switched to a matching expression.

“Don’t look at me like that.” She sighed, taking my hands into hers. What was with my hands so much that everybody felt the need to touch me that way? I must have stared at my hands so long frowning that I made her laugh. “Your energy feels good.”

“Get out of my head.” I mumbled, the red flushing my cheeks.

“You are just so easy to read now.”

Both chuckled, staring at me like I was some kind of entertaining clown.

‘You are thinking too much. Calm down.’

‘I don’t want to go there. I know why we should, but getting there… what if we get trapped there trying to take him out? It took us years to have an opportunity to escape and yet again, we’ve been there a few times without problem but I can’t help but think of the what if…’

‘Think about what changed… We are not alone anymore.’

I looked up at the two airheads looking at me. I couldn’t resist and smile, as a warm wave washed over my body, comforting me. Sparkles flew out at the tips of my fingers, and I followed their intrigued gazes. I shrugged, grinning.

“Not so easy to read now eh.”

Laughing, with the most beautiful ringing laugh, her cristaline voice filling the space around, bringing Kylon to laugh too, she stooped out of her room, lacing her fingers with mine.

“I’m ready. And you are too. Let’s go.”

“Let’s go.” I answered, firming my grip on her fingers in return.

Smoke was coming out of under the hood, as the car was belly up, like a puppy that wished to be pet. Grunting, I got out, crawling, out of the window, frantically looking right and left, searching for Kylon’s or Sarabella’s silhouette or sign.

“Everybody’s alright?” I called, waiting for an answer.

“They’re already with us. Don’t look for them.”

The voice seemed familiar. Too familiar. And just when I wanted to reached out to the person in front of me, I blacket out, focusing on their feet.
