61| HAVE A GOOD LIFE

Eron walked into his company's conference room, feeling as lifeless as he looked. He had not yet figured out what to do with, or to Kayla for messing his life up like this. It was obvious that he had been drugged, but he was sure at that point, that he did not have sex with Kayla. But only if his woman would believe him. How could she? There were tons of evidence pointing to the farce that he was guilty, and until he came up with something that would vindicate him, he knew he had to stay away from her.

"Let's go straight to the point with the meeting. The presentation first, any other thing will be postponed until the next meeting." Eron spoke rigidly, as soon as he took his seat. A nudge here and there, some mumbling, before the board member responsible for the presentation stood up and began to dish out his speech.

Eron zoned out during the course of presentation—a habit that was very much unlike him. He missed everything that the man said and as a result, he had to tell him to repeat the whole pitch again. Of course, the man was annoyed, but he said nothing, starting over once more.. without complaints.

Eron willed himself to pay attention to what the man was saying this time, not until a commotion was heard outside. Everyone got distracted almost as soon, and before they could pick up on what it was, the conference door busted open and in Eron's mind, his jaw dropped when he noticed who it was.

Frema charged at him with the speed of light but before she could get to him, someone grabbed her and held her back firmly.

"If you do not tell her to leave me alone this instant, Eron, I'll scream down this place! I'll cause serious damage to this place, I promise you!" She shouted and thrashed in the man's arms. Eron was up in seconds and his gaze zeroed in on the hands of the man on Frema's body until the man let go of her and she lunged towards him like a possessed woman. He had never seen her in the state before, the view of the change almost made him lose his footing.

In two steps, he grabbed her hand and pulled her along with him as they headed to his office. Frema kept her mouth shut on their way there, gathering her breath and strength for the assault she planned to unleash on him.

"Now, explain. What was that madness all about?" Were the first words that left Eron's lips as he shut the door of his office behind him with a bang. Her lips trembled as she bunched her palms in a fist. He looked down at the poorly made fists, holding back a laugh at how feisty she was. Frema saw through his composure. Was he about to laugh at her? He probably thought she was crazy, but of course, what else would you term a woman that has been believing a devil's lies for years?

"You are such a psychopath." She started, tears brimming in her eyes.

"Noted. What brought you here, Princesa?" Eron asked again, never loosing the calm edge his voice possessed. Instead of replying, Frema tossed her phone in his direction and glared at him as he read through. When he was done, he looked up at her and she saw his jaw tick for a mini-second, but that was the only emotion he showed.

"I did not do this." Eron spoke and Frema now lunged for him, scattering harmless blows against his broad chest. He let her carry on with her assault for some minutes and then, he grabbed her by the wrists and pulled her flush against his chest.

No matter how much Frema tried to lie to herself, she could not deny the erratic beating of her heart or the jolt of electricity that passed through her entire body when their bodies made contact. Maybe she was still in love with him, she thought, but she would not allow herself to be stupid enough to act on that love again. So, she pushed him off her and pointed a finger at his face with a sneer,

"Don't you ever.. I repeat, don't you ever, think of laying your hands on me ever again." She spat at him and instead of the downcast reaction she expected to see from him, his expression morphed into a smirk.

"Oh, love, you wish you meant that." He said and without missing a beat, he pulled her to him and smashed his lips against hers in a passionate kiss. She fisted his shirt in her right hand, with every intention of pushing him off her but her hand grows weak against his chest and she just lets it lie there, parting her lips for him in encouragement. Eron's breathless groan was what jerked her back into reality, and it was then that she finally pushed him off her ferociously. Eron glared at her lips, then at her, but he willed himself to remain calm as he watched her like a hawk.

"I'm filing a restraining order against you. I can see you've moved on with your new family—handing out wills to them like worthless cheques, so I plan on moving on, also and I expect you to make this easy for me. Leave me the hell alone." Frema gritted out and Eron laughed. Laughed! For someone who rarely laughed, he laughed long and hard; when she was being dead serious.

"I see. Do you know I control the cops, still?" He asked her in a domineering voice. She glared harder at him, repeating how much she hated him over and over in her head.

"Not surprised. Once a crook, always a crook." She replied. He smirked at that.

"Come home, Frema. Let's sort this whole matter together." Eron's strong voice turned pleading. It was not a usual sight, of course, but as scarce as it was, Frema did not want to see him. She paid deaf ears to her heart that screamed, “look!”, and rolled her eyes at him.

"I'd rather live with a pig at this moment than live with someone like you." She replied bitterly and Eron succeeded in hiding how disappointed he was, nodding once.

"Someone like me, huh?" Eron asked, tilting his head to the side for a bit, before beginning to walk to her.

"You heard me." Frema replied, putting her hand out to stop him from coming any further. This time, he respected her wishes and stood at the spot.

"Did you even love me, princess? If you did, you would know that I am innocent of it all, you would know that this is all a plan to ruin our future together." Eron told her quietly and Frema scoffed.

"Well, whoever plotted this whole thing is really good at it, then. I cannot believe you're still defending yourself with how the amount of evidence that points at you as the criminal. The villain." Frema replied him, even if her heart was torn between believing him and going along with what she already believed. She could not fall prey to him—again. She just couldn't. She witnessed his shoulders slump a little, just before he replied,

"I will not give up on us, Princesa."

"I'd advise you to. Because from today onwards, there is no us. And I am not your Princesa. You can gift Kayla that name too, just like you gifted her my ring." She watched as his brows kissed his eyelids in confusion, but it was only for a brief moment and after the short display of emotion, he said nothing.

"Enjoy the rest of your life, Mr Castile." With that, she was out of his office and consequently, out of his life.
